OBJECTIVE:
To study on clinical significance of acoustic rhinometry and nasal resistance checks by low temperature radiofrequency ablation on nasal endoscopy operation.
METHOD:
Application instrument of acoustic rhinometry and nasal resistance meter on 106 cases with moderate to severe persistent nasal obstruction symptoms. These patients are not obvious or invalid after regular drug treatment. The preoperative and postoperative six months, with the nasal mucosa contraction before and after by inspect respectively, also record nasal resistance (NR), nasal minimum cross-sectional area (NMCA), distance of the minimal cross-sectional area to the nostril (DCAN), mean nasal cross-sectional area (MNCA), nasal cavity from volume (NCV). The other 36 cases of healthy people as a control group. Before and after nasal mucosa contraction by inspect. Two sets of data were statistically analyzed with SAS6.12. The efficacy evaluation of radiofrequency ablation by improve the extent and visual analog scale (VAS) score, with the patient's subjective symptoms.
RESULT:
The group of preoperative rhinitis treatment NR higher than the controls significantly, the NMCA significantly lower than the control group (P< 0.01). The group of postoperative by radiofrequency ablation and rhinitis treatment was 100%, postoperative VAS scores were decreased compared with pre operative (P < 0.01). The group of rhinitis treatment NR was significantly lower than the preoperative, and NMCA significantly increased compared with the preoperative (P < 0.01). Before and after nasal contraction in the same group, NR and NMCA was no difference (P > 0.05). The NR and NMCA of the postoperative in rhinitis treatment group was no difference compared with the control group (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Low temperature radio frequency ablation by nasal endoscopy operation had a significant improvement of nasal ventilation functions for patients with moderate to severe chronic rhinitis, acoustic rhinometry and nasal resistance can be an objective and accurate evaluation to this operation.

The Journal of Practical Medicine 2014;(22):3603-3605
Objective To investigate the correlation of the middle cerebral artery stenosis (MCAS) and the mild cognitive function impairment (MCI),and the clinical efficacy of statins in patients with MCI. Methods Six hundred and thirty-six patientse, who received transcranial color doppler ultrasound (TCD)assay, were enrolled in our hospital hospitalization or outpatients. The simple mental state examination (MMSE) and clinical dementia rating scale (CDR) were used as cognitive function assessment indexes. Forty-four cases of MCI with MCAS and 58 cases of MCI with NMCAS were used as the treatment group , who received the atorvastatin 20 mg every day , 56 cases of MCI with NMCAS were used as the control group , who only received the routine and basic diseases treatment. One yearlater,we determined the changes of MMSE and CDRagain. Results We detected 124 patients with MCAS, 512 patients with NMCAS, and 44 cases of MCAS patients with MCI, the prevalence was 35.5%,114 cases of NMCAS in patients with MCI, with the prevalence of 22.3%, the prevalence between the two groups was statistically different. One year later, the patients in the treatment group, MMSE score was improved, the score of MCI of the MCAS group improved more significantly. Conclusion The middle cerebral artery stenosis correlated with the occurrence of MCI. Atorvastatin could improve cognitive function in patients with MCI, especially for MCI which was caused by middle cerebral artery stenosis.

BACKGROUND:hIL-24, a tumor suppressor gene, can stimulate immune responses, inhibit the growth of tumor cel s, and the formation of tumor vessels, and induce cel apoptosis. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of hIL-24 gene on the proliferation and apoptosis of fibroblasts in the keloid and the underlying mechanisms. METHODS:Al the keloid specimens col ected from 13 patients were used for fibroblast culture and indentification. Fibroblast of the keloid was transfected with or without hlL-24 lentivirus. Subsequently, mRNA expressions of transforming growth factor-β, Smad3, proliferating cel nuclear antigen, matrix metal oproteinase-2,-9, and metal opeptidase inhibitor 1 were determined. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Immunofluorescent staining and flow cytometry showed that vimentin antibody was expressed positively in cytoplasma of fibroblast cultures, and the purity was more than 97.8%. Western blot assay showed that hIL-24 expression was significantly increased in the transfected fibroblasts. Quantitative PCR showed that the overexpression rate of hIL-24 in fibroblasts was 81.7%and mRNA expressions of transforming growth factor-β, Smad3, proliferating cel nuclear antigen, matrix metal oproteinase-2, and-9 were significantly decreased, while metal opeptidase inhibitor 1 mRNA expression was significantly increased in hIL-24 transfection group compared with control group (P<0.05). These findings suggest that hIL-24 gene inhibits the expressions of proliferating cel nuclear antigen, matrix metal oproteinase-2, and-9 in fibroblasts, and the underlying mechanism may involves TGF-β/Smad3 pathway.
