Objective To explore the effects of surface functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (FMWCNTs) on the cytotoxicity of human peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC).Methods Five different types of MWCNTs (hydroxylated,carboxylated,aminated,nickel-plated and pristine MWCNTs (P-MWCNTs)) with the same diameter and length were evaluated the dispersion and characterizations in physiological salt solution by transmission electron microscopy.PBMC were isolated by density gradient centrifugation from human peripheral blood,and 5 types of MWCNTs were ultrasonically dispersed in serum-containing medium respectively.After incubation with PBMC for 12,24,48 or 72 h,cytotoxicity was detected by CCK-8 kits.Results All the MWCNTs had well dispersion,especially the F-MWCNTs.Cytotoxicity results showed that all types of MWCNTs could induced PBMC death,and presented dose-dependence manner and a certain degree of time-dependence manner.Compared with the P-MWCNTs,F-MWCNTs changed cytotoxicity statistically,with the hydroxylated,carboxylated,aminated MWCNTs weakened,aminated MWCNTs significant (P＜0.05),nevertheless the nickel-plated MWCNTs increased.Compared with the P-MWCNTs (25 μg/ml),cell viability of PBMC after 24 and 48 h incubation with the same dose of nickelplated MWCNTs both decreased,and the differences was statistically significant (P＜0.01,P＜0.05).Conclusions The functional group modification affects not only the MWCNTs dispersion in medium,but also the cytotoxicity of the MWCNTs on PBMC.

Objective To investigate the effect of Buyanghuanwu decoction(BYHWD) on the expression of growth-associated protein 43(GAP-43) and synaptophysin(SYP) after focal cerebral ischemia in mice.Methods Focal cerebral ischemia was induced by 30 min of middle cerebral artery occlusion followed by reperfusion.BYHWD (20 g/kg) was administered orally 24 h after ischemia and once a day.The neurological score and the corner test were used to evaluate sensorimotor function on 1,3,7,and 14 days after ischemia.The expression of GAP-43 and SYP in the ischemic boundary zone was determined by immunohistochemistry 14 days after ischemia.Results Compared with the model group,BYHWD significantly ameliorated neurological dysfunction at 3,7 and 14 days and reduced the number of right turn at 7 and 14 days after ischemia(P ＜ 0.05).The average optical density of GAP-43 and SYP was 0.217 ±0.012 and 0.278 ±0.019 at the boundary zone in model group 14 days after ischemia,respectively.BYHWD also significantly increased the immunoreactivity of GAP-43 (0.250 ± 0.013)and SYP(0.323 ± 0.017) (P＜ 0.01).Conclusion BYHWD promotes axonal regeneration and synaptic plasticity in the ischemic boundary zone,which may contribute to functional recovery after focal cerebral ischemia.

Objective To design and develop a cardiovascular automatic feedback control instrument for rescuing the critical patients.Methods Ten dogs used this kind instrument and the effects were obserred.Resuts The experiment of the dogs showed:the computer collected samples promptly,accurately and rapidly,and the instrument could help us to reach the expected goal.Conclusion In animal experiments,it showed that the whole cycle,from obtaining blood pressure to adjusting the amounts of medicine through feedback,was shortened.The calculating was accuratel and curative effect was reliable.This instrument is wait to be apprnsed by clinic.

Objective To investigate the predictive value of heart rate variability to,and its correlation with ventricular arrhythmias in patients with structural heart disease.Methods 24 hours ambulatory electrocardiogram monitoring was administered during March 2012 and October 2013,and standard deviation of the NN interval (SDNN) in the time-domain analysis and sympathetic/vagal ratio in the frequency domain analysis were collected and retrospectively analyzed in 300 patients.Results The incidence rate of ventricular arrhythmias was higher in patients with structural heart disease in SDNN ＜100 ms group than in control group [4.1％ (3/74) vs.39.5％ (45/114),P＜0.01].The sympathetic/vagal ratio was significantly higher in group with structural heart disease and ventricular arrhythmia than in control group(19.9 ±2.3 vs.10.1 ±1.7,P＜0.01)The time-domain index SDNN was negatively correlated with the frequency domain index (sympathetic/vagal ratio) (r=-0.819,P ＜0.01).Conclusions SDNN ＜100ms and the increased sympathetic/vagal ratio can be considered as the predictors of ventricular arrhythmias in patients with structural heart disease.

Objective To master the prevalence of plague and its trend in Guizhou Province,and to analyze the plague monitoring results from 2000 to 2012.Methods The report of infectious disease,the information of plague natural focus and the epizootic monitoring data of Xingyi City,Anlong County and Dingxiao Distract of Guizhou Province from 2000 to 2012 were collected and the status of the plague natural focus was analyzed.Results There were 137 cases of gland plague in Xingyi City and Arlong county from 2000-2003,1 death,and mt plague occurred in 66 villages.Fifty-four strains of Yersiniapestis were detected and 49 rats were plague antigen F1 positive(49/160).No human plague occurred between 2004-2012.A total of 4 plague antigen F1 positive rats were detected in Dingxiao District and Xingyi City in 2005 and 2006.There was no Yersinia pestis and F1 antibody in 2007-2012.The epidemic stage of plague was from 2000-2003; the active stage was from 2004-2006; and the quiescent stage was from 2007-2012.The dominant species of the plague natural focus was Rattus flavipestus (42.83％,7 966/18 597),but was replaced by Rattus norvegicus at the epidemic stage (47.22％,1 480/3 134) and the active stage(35.35％,2 071/5 196).The density of rodents was 5.34％ at the epidemic stage,which was higher than that of the active stage (3.27％) and the quiescent stage (1.71％,x2 =2 286.15,P ＜ 0.01).Xenopsylla cheopis(56.34％,10 034/17 811) was the dominant species,and the index was 1.537 9,which was greater than those of the active stage(0.959 6) and the quiescent stage(0.540 4,x2 =492.68,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions The plague of Guizhou Province is at the quiescent stage.Both the density of rodents and the Xenopsylla cheopis index are lower than the national standard of controlling.

Objective To investigate the content of cadmium in shellfish in Guangdong Province and make dietary exposure assessment of cadmium in shellfish.Methods The shellfish samples were collected from Pearl River Delta,Eastern and Western Guangdong Province using random sampling method.Point assessment method was used to evaluate the exposure of dietary cadmium intake from shellfish.The risk of dietary cadmium exposure from shellfish were evaluated.Results Three hundred and seven samples were included in the analysis.The median concentration of cadmium in shellfish was 0.630 mg/kg and the exceeding standard rate was 23.8％ (73/307).The exceeding standard rates in Eastern Guangdong,Western Guangdong and Pearl River Delta were 19.4％ (13/67),23.5％ (16/68),and 25.6％ (44/172),respectively.The corresponding median concentration of cadmium were 0.530,0.806 and 0.853 mg/kg,and the difference was not statistically significant (x2 =0.94,P ＞ 0.05).The average (P50) and high level (P97.5) daily intake of cadmium from shellfish by the total survey population was 0.957 μg/d,and 4.511 μg/d,respectively.The monthly intake of cadmium associated with shellfish calculated from average and P97.5 exposure doses accounted for 1.91％ and 9.02％ of PTMI,respectively.Conclusion The cadmium content of some shellfish in Guangdong Province exceeded the standard.However,the cadmium intake from shellfish by the survey population was not high.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the applicability of EuroQol 5-Dimension 3-Level questionnaire (Chinese Version 1.0) (EQ-5D-3L) in the assessment of life quality of patients with idopathic sudden hearing loss. METHOD: In this retrospect study, the EQ-5D-3L was assigned to 60 patients with idopathic sudden hearing loss before and after drug therapy. Audiometry examinations were undertaken and concomitant symptoms were recorded. A Wilcoxon rank sum test was applicated to the comparisons of results of EQ-5D-3L before and after the treatment, a t-test for results of EQ-VAS and a Kappa measurement for the consistency of certain dimension correlated with the symptoms. RESULT: Sixty patients completed the five questions and visual analog scale of the EQ-5D. A statistically significant changes of pain/discomfort, anxiety/depression before and after the treatment were observed (P < 0.05). The domains of mobility, self-care and usual activities did not show statistically significant different (P > 0.05). The dimension of pain/discomfort was in agreement with the concomitant symptoms. And the result of EQ-VAS was in agreement with the therapeutic outcome. CONCLUSION It is suitable for the EQ-5D to be a general health measure with sensitivity to clinical change in idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss, which monitors the patients' outcomes.

We identified the routes of infection and evaluate the effect of disinfection on the field of an outbreak of an-thrax in a village of Wengan County ,Guizhou ,China ,thus trying to provide with basis for the implementation of policies for pre-vention and control of anthrax .The authors gathered the cases information by searching and interviewing the targeted persons house by house ,and reviewed the medical records in hospitals .The samples including patient’s discharging fluid ,residues of died horse ,and soil from the places where the villagers dismembered horse were gathered and cultured for Bacillus anthracis . The technique of multiple-locus variable-number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA-8) was applied for revealing the genetic rela-tionships among those isolated Bacillus anthracis strains .Five cases of cutaneous anthrax occurred in the outbreak and the total attack rate was 7 .58% (5/66) among those contactors evolved in the activity of carrying ,dismembering ,washing ,chopping and eating the died horse .The attack rate was 100% (3/3) for those who carried ,dismembered ,washed ,chopped and ate that horse ,100% (1/1) for those who carried ,dismembered and ate ,and 7 .14% (1/14) for those who washed ,chopped and ate . The 25% (1/4) of the samples of discharging fluid from the cases with cutaneous anthrax were positive .After disinfection , 15 .38% (4/26) of the soil samples retained positive .The genetic similarity was 100% among the 5 isolate strains .The results suggested that the outbreak of anthrax in villagers occurred through the activities of carrying ,dismembering ,washing and chop-ping the died horse .Strengthening the risk communication and disinfection of the dismemberment places should be the crucial strategies to prevent and control anthrax epidemics in Guizhou in the future .

OBJECTIVE: To construct and obtain ideal protein delivery vectors by researching the delivery efficiency and cytotoxicity to Hela cells using mPEG-PLGA-BSA-FITC-NPs. METHOD: The mPEG-PLGA nanoparticle was obtained through surface modification of PLGA with PEG, and deliver BSA-FITC into Hela cells in vitro. The positive cells were counted by Laser scanning confocal microscopy and the survival rate of Hela cells was calculated by MTT assay at different time points. RESULT: mPEG-PLGA-BSA-FITC-NPs shows the classic nanometer size, and the encapsulation efficiency reached 51. 2%. At the same time, the nanoparticles possess characteristics of slow release. By optimizing the delivery conditions, the highest efficiency of mPEG-PLGA-BSA-FITC-NPs was above 65.2%, and the cellular viability was about 85.7%. CONCLUSION mPEG-PLGA-BSA-FITC-NPs nanoparticles can successfully carry the target protein into cells as safe and effective as novel delivery materials of protein in vitro, and has shown slow release characteristics. The mPEG-PLGA-BSA-FITC-NPs provide ideal delivery vector for future application in clinical treatment of disease using nano-materials.
