2.Therapeutic Observation of Electrothermal Needle Apparatus for Mild Hip Osteoarthritis

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of electrothermal needle apparatus in treating mild hip osteoarthritis.Method Ninety patients were divided into a control group and a treatment group by using the random number table, 45 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened byelectrothermal needleapparatus; the control group was treated with ordinary electroacupuncture plus TDP radiation. After 15-day treatment, the therapeutic efficacies of the two groups were evaluated by using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scores.Result The VAS and JOA scores were improved inthe two groups after the treatment (P<0.05), and the improvements in the treatment group were more significant than those in the control group after the 15-day treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion Electrothermal needle apparatus can produce a significant therapeutic efficacy in treating mild hip osteoarthritis.
3.THE STUDY OF THE CONTENT OF THE ENDOGENOUS DIGOXIN-LIKE SUBSTANCE WITHIN THE PLASMA OF PATIENTS WITH CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE

In this study, endogenous digoxin-like substance (EDLS) in the plasma was measured by radioimmunoassay in patients with congestive heart failure The EDLS levels were significantly increased in patients with heart failure and were positively correlated correlated with the heart function state, Na~+/K~+-ATPasc activity in red cells and the electrolyte change in blood cells. We believed that digoxin-like substance may participatc in the process of the compensatory mechanirsms of the heart failure.
4.RELATION OF PERIOPERATIVE SERUM THYROID HORMONE CHANGES TO HEART DYSFUNCTION IN PATIENTS UNDERGONE CARDIAC VALVE REPLACEMENT

Objective To explore the relationship between perioperative serum thyroid hormone changes and heart dysfunction in patients undergone cardiac valve replacement. Methods The serum concentrations of free tri- iodothyronine (),free thyroxine (),total total reverse and thyroid-stimulating hor- mone (TSH) in 20 patients undergone routine rheumatic mitral valve replacement were determined by radioim- munoassay at preoperation, the end of myocardial ischemia, and 2,6,12,24 and 48h postoperation, respectively. The alteration hormones above mentioned were comparatively analysed of the normal heart function group (group I,n = 14) and heart dysfunction group (group I ,n=6) after surgery. ResultsIn comparing group I with group I , the more severe the chronic congestive heart failure, the lower the thyroid hormone level before operation;and subse- quently both progressively lowered T3 level and acute heart dysfunction emerged after operation. The decreased extent of serum thyroid hormone was closely parallel to the severity of heart dysfunction. GonclusionPerioperatively, de- creased serum FT3 and TT3 concentrations are at least an important humoral factor aggravating heart dysfunction, and the patients with preoperative low T3 should be considered as high-risk valvular surgical cases.
5.A SPECIFIC STAINING METHOD OF MYOCARDIAL CAPILLARIES AND THE EFFECT OF ISCHEMIC PRECONDITIONING ON MYOCARDIAL CAPILLARIES

To explore a method of identifying myocardial capillaries and to use it to observe the effects of ischemic preconditioning on the myocardial capillaries. Anesthetized open chest dogs in ischemic preconditioning (IP) group ( n =6) were subjected to 5min ischemia and 5min reperfusion for 4 cycles before 1 hour of left descending coronary artery (LDA) occlusion followed by 2 hours of reperfusion, while in the ischemia reperfusion (IR) group ( n =6) they were only subjected to 1 hour occlusion followed by 2 hour reperfusion. Myocardial samples in ischemic area were obtained to display capillaries by silver hexamethylenetetramine staining, and their quantitative analysis was conducted by imaging analyzing system. Two growps were then compared. The results showed that myocardial capillaries were clearly shown by silver hexamethylenetetramine, and it revealed that the numerical points density, numerical perimeter density and numerical profile density of myocardial capillaries in ischemic region were obviously increased in IP group compared with IR group. The results suggested the method to identify myocardial capillaries by silver hexamethylenetetramine was reliable and practical, and IP could protect the myocardial capillaries from the damage of ischemia reperfusion.
6.The influence of smoking upon level of serum interleukin and TNF-? in patients with bronchial asthma

Objective To explore the influence of smoking upon the level of the serum interleukin and TNF-? in patients with bronchial asthma.Methods Sixty-five patients with bronchial asthma,grade 3 or 4 as asthma group and 50 healthy examinees as control group were selected.According to the smoking history,each group was divided into the smoking subgroup and the non-smoking subgroup.For each group,the level of cytokines in serum were detected,and at the same time,their smoking history and general condition were collected.The differences between the groups were compared and the relationship of all indexes was analyzed.Results Compared with the control group,the level of IL-2、IL-6、IL-8 and TNF-? of the asthma group was significantly higher(P0.05).The level of IL-2、IL-8 and TNF-? of the smoking asthma subgroup was significantly higher than the smoking control subgroup(P0.05).Conclusion The influence of smoking upon the level of cytokines of asthma patients is significant.The level of IL-8、TNF-? in serum of a smoking asthma patient increases.The level of five cytokines in serum of 65 asthma patients in our research is related to patient's condition severity.
7.Ventricular Endoscopy for Obstructive Hydrocephalus: Report of 33 Cases

Objective To discuss the techniques of ventricular endoscopy for obstructive hydrocephalus.Methods A total of 33 patients with obstructive hydrocephalus were treated by ventriculostomy using ventricular endoscopy from June 2003 to December 2006.The patients had received CT,MRI,and 99mTc-DTPA cistern SPECT before the surgery.Results Endoscopic third ventriculostomy was performed successfully in 32 patients,the other patient died of hemorrhage under the third ventricle fistula.Postoperative fever occurred in 13 patients.One patient developed bilateral chronic subdural hematoma 6 months after the operation,and was cured by drill and drainage.Three patients developed subdural hydroma 6 months postoperation without showing symptoms.They were monitored without any treatment.The 32 patients were followed up for 2-42 months(mean,16.7 months),all of them achieved clinical relieve.In the patients,the intracranial pressure(ICP) was 26(16-39) cm H2O before the operation,and was significantly decreased to 22(12-28) cm H2O 7 days after the operation(t=2.903,0.005
8.A case-control study of intravenous drip and local artery infusion in treatment of severe acute pancreatitis

Objectives:To explore a new way in treatment of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP). Methods:From 1995 to 2001,23 patients with SAP proved by clinic and CT were treated, and compared the local artery infusion with intravenous drip on effect,mortality and time of hospitalization. Results:The mortality and time of hospitalization in 12 artery infusion and 11 intravenous drip were (14.4?3.1),(29.3?6.1) days of hospitalization and 8.33%,27.27%(mortality),respectively. Conclusions:The mortality and the time of hospitalization can be reduced by local artery infusion of medicine.
9.RENAL ENDOGENOUS ET-1 AND URINARY SODIUM EXCRETION AND MICROALBUMINURIA IN HUMAN SALT-SENSITIVE HYPERTENSION

Objective To investigate the urinary endothelin-1 (ET-1) excretion and urinary sodium excretion,microalbuminuria and ambulatory blood pressure(ABP) in salt-sensitive(SS) hypertension patients. Methods Twenty-one cases of normotensive subjects and 32 cases of uncomplicated hypertensive patients were recruited in this study. Salt sensitivity was determined by acute venous saline loading test. Before saline loading, 24-hour ABP measurements were performed. Urine samples were collected to assay ET-1 ,urinary sodium excretion and urinary albumin excretion(UAF). Results Compared to slat-resistant(SR) subgroup, SS showed low urinary ET-1 excretion in normotensive group (P<0.05) or hypertensive group (P<0.01) ,regardless of saline loading or not. The nighttime MAP of SS was higher than SR subgroup in normotensive or hypertensive group. Urinary sodium excretion during 4h of saline loading was significantly lower in SS than that in SR hypertensive patients (P<0. 05). Twenty-four-hour UAE of SS patients was higher than SR group (P<0.01). Results of further correlation analysis indicated that the urinary ET-1 excretion was positively related to urinary sodium content and negatively to ABP and UAE. Conclusion Urinary ET-1 is low in SS normotensives or hypertension patients,which may play a role in renal sodium retention and renal impairment of SS hypertension patients.
10.Expression and purification of rat brain NT-3 fusion protein and its antibody preparation

Objective To clone NT-3 gene from normal rat brain and to purify its fusion protein and to prepare specific high titer antibody so that to provide a foundation for further study for peripheral nerve injury.MethodsWe amplified target gene by RT-PCR and cloned it into the vector of pMD-18T,then analyzed its sequence and compared it with the sequence from GenBank.We subcloned it into pRSET-A vector and introduced it into Escherichia coli BL21.The expression was induced by IPTG,and identified by SDS-PAGE.The fusion protein was purified by niccolum purify kit.We immuned rabbits with immunological adjuvant for specificity antibody preparation.Results We got a 777 bp gene segment by RT-PCR.The DNA sequence was identical to rat NT-3 gene sequence in GenBank.It proved that the target gene was correctly inserted into the vector.A new protein band of about 34 ku appeared on SDS-PAGE after induction of IPTG.A specific high titer antibody of 1∶64000 was gained by immunizing rabbits with adjuvant.
