Objective: To determine the role of intensity of plum-blossom needle tapping in treating alopecia areata. Methods: The BALB/c mice were randomized into a normal group, a control group, a roller-needle (RN) group, a mild plum-blossom needle (MP) group, and a heavy plum-blossom needle (HP) group. An area of hair was removed by external application of 8% sodium sulfide on BALB/c mice. The hair regrowth, hair follicle changes, and local inflammatory factor changes after cutaneous acupuncture were observed. Results: After treated with sodium sulfide, the hair was completely removed, the local hair follicles reached the catagen phase, and the expressions of interleukin (IL)-1α, IL-1β, IL-2, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interferon (IFN)-γ, and IL-17 were increased. Mice intervened by RN achieved the same hair growth rating as the controls but with thicker hair shafts; mice in the MP group had incomplete and uneven hair growth but thicker hair shafts; mice in the HP group didn't show hair growth. Pathological analysis revealed significant inflammatory infiltration into the local follicle bulbs and increased catagen-phase follicles in the control group, while RN and MP groups showed significantly increased anagen-phase follicles, coarser individual hairs, and obvious hair shafts. Meanwhile, most of the hair follicles in the HP group were in telogen phase and showed obvious surrounding inflammatory infiltration. RN, MP, and HP significantly down-regulated the increased IL-2, IL-1α, IL-1β, TNF-α, and IFN-γ levels (P<0.05), but didn't notably affect the increased CD34 expression (P>0.05).Conclusion: Cutaneous acupuncture with heavy stimulation intensity can inhibit hair growth in hair removal mice, while RN, with the lightest stimulation intensity, is unlikely to affect hair growth but may make hair shafts thicker and follicles larger.

Objective To observe the impacts of different storage temperatures on the activities of adipose tissues and the extraction and proliferation of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) situated in harvested fat. Methods Adipose tissues obtained by liposuctions in healthy females were kept in different temperature;all groups of adipose tissues were studied in context of the histomorphology and activity of GAPD as well as the extraction efficiency and proliferation of ADSCs.Results Adipose tissues cryopreserved at 4 ℃ within 24 hours could retain their activities effectively, but their activities would decrease rapidly if they preserved at room temperature. The efficiency of adipose tissues extracting stem cells and their proliferations were affected by storage temperatures and times. If adipose tissues were preserved at room temperature for over 1 hour, the extraction efficiency and proliferation of their ADSCs would be lower significantly. Conclusions Adipose tissues cryopreserved at 4 ℃ can effectively ensure their activities and their extraction efficiency and proliferation of ADSCs.It is important to preserve adipose tissues at low temperature after harvesting fat graft.

Objective To assess the correlation between inflammation, specific immune response and coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods Thirty healthy cases passed the health examination were taken as the control group. Eighty cases who were diagnosised into CHD,affirmed by coronary angiography, were divided into three groups: acute myocardial infarction (AMI) group(26 cases),unstable angina pectoris (UP) group (24 cases),and stable angina pectoris (SP) group(30 cases). All the cases were tested on the concentrations of C-reactive protein(CRP),IgA,IgG,IgM in serum. Results The serum indices of CRP,IgG,IgA in AMI group and UP group were significantly difference than those in the control group (P0.05). Conclusion The correlation between inflammation and immune system activation are closely associated with CHD.

Objective To explore clinical feasibility of liver transplant from child of brain death to adult, to summarize the clinical experiences that a child of brain death transplants liver to an adult. Methods The recipient was a 39-year-old woman patient with primary hepatic carcinoma and posthepatitis cirrhosis (decompensation stage); while the donor was a 8-old-year child of brain death because of brain neoplasms. Donated liver was gained by the method of en bloc multivisceral procurement in a short time; the operative method was classic orthotopic liver transplantation. The postoperative managements included immunosuppression, prevention of infection, hepatic protection, and other relevant supports etc. Results The transplantation operative duration was 6 hours, after which not only did the recipient survive but also her body functioned well including the liver part, with no severe postoperative complications. Conclusions The technology of transplanting livers from children to adults is feasible. The key to ensure the success of transplant operation is systematic preoperative evaluation, excellent operative technique, and perfect postoperative treatment.

Objective To compare the difference of the left ventricular structure and diastolic func-tion in normotensive offspring with or without a family history of hypertension. Methods One hundred nor-motensive offspring were assessed. Fifty had a family history of hypertension (experimental group) and 50 had no family hi.history of hypertension (control group). By eehocardiography and Doppler tissue imaging, the following parameters of left ventricular structure and diastolic function were examined: interventricular septal thickness (IVST), left ventrieular posterior wall thickness (LVPWT), left ventricular internal dimension (LVIDed), left ventrieular mass index(LVMI) and E/A. Results Compared with control group, experimen-tal group had higher IVST, LVPWT and LVMI, lower peak velocity of the early diastolic wave (e) of mitral annulus, and lower e/a (P<0.05). No differences in LVIDed, left atrial diameter (LA),aortic dimension(AOD), E,A and E/A were found between the two groups. Conclusion The results indicate that genetic factor of parental hypertension influence left ventrieular structure and diastolic function in normotensive offspring, which may precede the elevation of blood pressure.
