OBJECTIVETo compare the clinical efficacy on cervical spondylotic radiculopathy between the combined therapy of massage and magnetic-sticking at the auricular points and the simple massage therapy, and conduct the health economics evaluation.
METHODSSeventy-two patients of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were randomized into a combined therapy group, and a simple massage group, 36 cases in each one. Finally, 35 cases and 34 cases were met the inclusive criteria in the corresponding groups separately. In the combined therapy group, the massage therapy and the magnetic sticking therapy at auricular points were combined in the treatment. Massage therapy was mainly applied to Fengchi (GB 20), Jianjing (GB 21), Jianwaishu (SI 14), Jianyu (LI 15) and Quchi (LI 11). The main auricular points for magnetic sticking pressure were Jingzhui (AH13), Gan (On12) Shen (CO10), Shenmen (TF4), Pizhixia (AT4). In the simple massage group, the simple massage therapy was given, the massage parts and methods were the same as those in the combined therapy group. The treatment was given once every two days, three times a week, for 4 weeks totally. The cervical spondylosis effect scale and the simplified McGill pain questionnaire were adopted to observe the improvements in the clinical symptoms, clinical examination, daily life movement, superficial muscular pain in the neck and the health economics cost in the patients of the two groups. The effect was evaluated in the two groups.
RESULTSThe effective rate and the clinical curative rate in the combined therapy group were better than those in the control group [100. 0% (35/35) vs 85. 3% (29/34), 42. 9% (15/35) vs 17. 6% (6/34), both P<0. 05]. The scores of the spontaneous symptoms, clinical examnation, daily life movement and superficialmuscular pain in the neck were improved apparently after treatment as compared with those before treatment in the patients of the two groups (all P<0. 001). In terms of the improvements in the spontaneous symptoms, clinical examination total scores and superficial muscular pain in the' neck were more significant in the combined therapy group as compared with those in the simple massage group (P<0. 05, P<0. 01, P<0. 001). The cost at the unit effect in the combined therapy group was lower than that in the simple massage group (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSIONCompared with the simple massage therapy, the massage therapy combined with magnetic sticking therapy at auricular points achieves the better effect and lower cost in health economics.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2022;34(5):503-506
Objective:
To detect varicella-zoster virus ( VZV ) antibody levels among children aged 1 to 12 years in Lu'an City, Anhui Province, so as to provide insights into perfection of the varicella immunization strategy.
Methods:
Children aged 1 to 12 years were recruited from Lu'an City using the stratified random sampling method from July 2018 to February 2019, and subjects' demographics were collected using questionnaires. The inoculation of varicella vaccines was retrieved through the Anhui Immunization Information Management System or review of preventive immunization certificates, and the serum VZV IgG antibody was detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ( ELISA ). The seroprevalence and geometric mean concentration of the VZV-IgG antibody were estimated, and the changes of serum the VZV-IgG antibody levels were analyzed at different time intervals following varicella vaccination.
Results:
Totally 734 children were surveyed, with a mean age of ( 6.94±2.95 ) years, and the subjects included 412 boys ( 56.13% ) and 322 girls ( 43.87% ). There were 514 children ( 70.03% ) with a history of varicella vaccination, including 501 children ( 68.26% ) with one dose of varicella vaccine and 13 children ( 1.77% ) with two doses. There were 297 children ( 40.46% ) positive for VZV-IgG antibody, with seroprevalence of 40.46%, and the GMC of VZV-IgG antibody was 74.97 ( 95%CI: 65.55-85.75 ) mIU/mL. The seroprevalence of the VZV-IgG antibody were 34.55%, 42.91%, and 46.15% among the unvaccinated children and children receiving one dose and two doses of varicella vaccine, with the GMCs of 53.04, 86.31 and 114.46 mIU/mL, respectively. The mean time interval between inoculation of the last dose of varicella vaccine and blood sample collection was ( 5.21±2.79 ) years, and the lowest seroprevalene (31.48%) and GMC of the VZV-IgG antibody (49.96 mIU/mL) were found 4 years after inoculation of varicella vaccine.
Conclusions
The serum VZV-IgG antibody level is low among children aged 1 to 12 years in Lu'an City, and the seroprevalence of the VZV-IgG antibody is affected by age and doses of varicella vaccine. A 2-dose schedule of varicella vaccine is recommended for children.

BACKGROUND: Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress has been proved to be related to the occurrence of diabetes, dilated cardiomyopathy and neurodegenerative diseases. Indeed, it is closely associated with osteoarthritis. OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of ER stress on the chondrocyte viability as well as the occurrence and development of osteoarthritis in rats. METHODS: Rat chondrocytes were isolated and cultured, and the ER stress in the rat chondrocytes was by 10 mg/L tunicamycin. The expression levels of ER stress markers C/EBP-homologous protein and 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein were detected by western blot assay, and the proliferation and apoptosis of chondrocytes were detected by cell counting kit-8 assay and AnnexinV-FITC flow cytometry, respectively. In the in vivo experiment, 15 Sprague-Dawley rats were selected and subjected to anterior cruciate ligament transection and medial meniscectomy to establish an animal model of osteoarthritis. Tunicamycin, tauroursodeoxycholic acid and PBS (blank control group) were respectively injected into the articular cavity, and then the progression of osteoarthritis was assessed by hematoxylin-eosin staining at 4 weeks after treatment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After addition of tunicamycin, the expression levels of C/EBP-homologous protein and 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein were significantly upregulated, the viability of chondrocytes was decreased gradually, while the apoptotic rate was increased significantly. Results from gross observation and hematoxylin-eosin staining suggested that tunicamycin promoted the progression of osteoarthritis and tauroursodeoxycholic acid delayed the deterioration of cartilage in the rats. These findings indicate that ER stress results in the decreased chondrocyte viability and increased apoptosis, which may be an important pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. Additionally, tauroursodeoxycholic acid can effectively alleviate osteoarthritis induced by ER stress.

Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2020;29(5):275-278
Objective:To investigate the clinical and biological characteristics of relapsed childhood low-risk acute B lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL).Methods:The clinical and laboratory data of 34 children who admitted in Beijing Boren Hospital from July 2017 to July 2018 were retrospectively analyzed, and 127-339 mutations of hematological malignancy related genes were analyzed. Results:The median time from the diagnosis to the recurrence was 871 d (87-1 446 d). The recurrence at early stage and late stage had 26 cases (76%) and 8 cases (24%), respectively. The recurrence before maintenance treatment, during maintenance therapy and after withdrawal of chemotherapy had 3 cases (9%), 12 cases (35%) and 19 cases (56%) (13 cases relapsed within 1 year after withdrawal, 6 cases relapsed after withdrawal 1-2 years and no one relapsed after withdrawal 2 years). The sites of recurrence included bone marrow alone accounting for 26 cases (76%), both intramedullary and extramedullary disease (EMD) accounting for 6 cases (18%), EMD alone accounting for 2 cases (6%). Flow cytometry showed that 9 patients presented minimal residual disease (MRD)-positive (6 cases with one positive, 2 cases with twice positive and 1 case with 3 times positive), including 8 cases occurred at early stage and 1 case occurred at late stage; and the level of MRD was 0.02%-3.82%. Complex chromosomal karyotype appeared in 6 relapsed children with normal or hyperdiploid karyotype at first diagnosis. Hematological malignancy related gene mutation detection was made in 28 cases, and the results showed that each patient had at least one gene mutation, and 2 or more gene mutations were detected in 25 cases (89%). The high frequency of gene mutations were as follows: CREBBP (7 cases, 25%), NRAS (7 cases, 25%), KRAS(7 cases, 25%), TP53 (4 cases, 14%), and NT5C2 (4 cases, 14%).Conclusions:The recurrence of childhood low-risk B-ALL occurs mostly in the maintenance treatment or in two years of withdrawal of chemotherapy. Positive MRD after complete remission is likely to show the risk of early recurrence. The gene mutations after the poor prognosis in cancer cells may be related to the recurrence of childhood low-risk B-ALL, and the common gene mutations include CREBBP, RAS signaling pathways genes and TP53, NT5C2.
