Objective To evaluate the alteration of left atrium function during left ventricular geometric remodeling in essential hypertension (EH) with real-time triplane strain rate imaging. Methods Totally 92 patients with EH and 50 healthy volunteers were enrolled. Base on Ganau, patients with EH were divided into 4 groups:normal geometry (A), concentric remodeling (B), concentric hypertrophy (C) and eccentric hypertrophy (D). Systolic peak strain rate (S_(SR)), early diastolic peak strain rate (D_(SR)) and atrium diastolic peak strain rate (A_(SR)) were measured at left atrium walls. Results Compared with normal group, S_(SR) and D_(SR) decreased in group A, B, C and D (P<0.01), A_(SR) increased in group A, B and C (P<0.01), then decreased in group D (P<0.01). Conclusion Left atrium function has changed before LV geometry changes in patients with EH. Real-time triplane strain rate imaging can assess left atrium function and its alteration correctly during left ventricular geometric remodeling in patients with EH.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of real-time triplane strain rate imaging for the quantitative assessment of left atrial function in normal subjects. Methods Totally 40 healthy volunteers were enrolled. Left atrial expansion index (LAEI), left atrial passive emptying fraction (LAPEF) and left atrial active emptying fraction (LAAEF) were measured using real-time triplane volume analysis. Mean systolic peak strain rate (MSRs), mean early diastolic peak strain rate (MSRe) and mean late diastolic peak strain rate (MSRa) were measured using real-time triplane strain rate imaging. The results were compared respectively. Results MSRs correlated positively with LAEI (r=0.61, P<0.01). MSRe correlated inversely with LAPEF (r=-0.67, P<0.01), so did MSRa with LAAEF (r=-0.78, P<0.01). Conclusion Real-time triplane strain rate imaging is feasible for the quantification of left atrial function in normal subjects.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the safety of induction chemotherapy and the implementation method of consolidation radiotherapy in young children with high-risk Hodgkin lymphoma(HL),by evaluating the effects of intensive induction chemother-apy on consolidation radiotherapy. METHODS:Six pediatric patients with high-risk HL received low-dose involved field radiation therapy (IFRT) via volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) following 6 cycles of intensive chemotherapy [Ara-C/VP16 (cyto-sine arabinoside+etoposide),ABVE-PC(adriamycin+bleomycin+leurocristine+etoposide+metacortandracin+cyclophosphamide)and CHOP(cyclophosphamide+leurocristine+adriamycin+ prednisone)in turn]. Therapeutic efficacy and toxic effects were evaluated af-ter treatment. RESULTS:Intensive induction chemotherapy and consolidation radiotherapy were acceptable by young children, and mild acute or subacute toxic reaction were observed. Intensive induction chemotherapy didn’t affect toxic effects of consolidation ra-diotherapy. In this regimen, the cumulative doses of bleomycin and adriamycin were 20 mg/m2 and 270 mg/m2,respectively. VMAT optimized plan to ensure that the dose that involved organs received was safe. In the patient with mediastional radiation therapy, the mean lung and heart doses were 525.6 cGy and 503.9 cGy,respectively. CONCLUSIONS:It is safe to give high-risk HL young children 6 cycles of intensive induction chemotherapy(Ara-C/VP16,ABVE-PC and CHOP in turn)before radiotherapy. It is feasi-ble to conduct IFRT with 18-20 Gy and an additional 20-25 Gy boost,1.5-1.8 Gy/fraction. VMAT deserves to be advised.

Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2004;0(01):-
Objective: To evaluate methods of detecting various component in the trace sample of the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF). Methods: One sample of GCF was collected from four patients with mild or moderate periodontitis. At first, one half (group A)of every sample was measured for interleukin-6 (IL-6) by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and then detected for Interleukin-1? (IL-1?) in the same sample .Another half (group B) of the sample was used as control for the measurement of Interleukin-1? (IL-1?). Another sample of GCF was collected from nine patients with abutment and non-abutment because of the distal extension teeth lost resulted from the chronic periodontitis. At first, one half (group C) of the sample was detected for tumor necrosis factor -?(TNF-?) by ELISA and then measured for elastase in the same sample. Another half (group D) of the sample was used as control for the measurement of elastase. Results: There was no significant difference of both the measured value of IL-1? absorbency (group A and B are 0.5?0.4 and 0.5?0.4, respectively, P=0.136)and that of elastase absorbency (group C and D are 1.1?0.6 and 1.1?0.6,respectively, P=0.943) between the original elution and the sample after detection of IL-6 or TNF-? in the test 1 and test 2, respectively. Moreover, the values showed high correlation (r=0.993, P=0.000 in the group A and B; r=0.979, P=0.000 in the group C and D). Conclusion: It is practicable that one sample of GCF can be reused to examine for several components of GCF.
