OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy and the relevant effect factors of acupuncture for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in females.

METHODSOf 83 female patients of T2DM, 49 cases were deficiency of kidney yin syndrome and 34 cases were yin and yang deficiency syndrome. Acupuncture was adopted and the acupoints were selected according to the syndrome differentiation. In kidney yin deficiency syndrome, Taixi (KI 3), Shenmen (HT 7), Taichong (LR 3) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), etc. were selected. In yin and yang deficiency syndrome, Shenshu (BL 23), Pishu (BL 20), Yishu (Extra) and Jingmen (GB 25), etc. were selected. In 3 courses of treatment, the changes in fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting insulin (FINS), insulin sensitivity index (ISI), insulin resistace index (Homa-IR), index of islet beta-cell function (Homa-beta), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. The relationship of the efficacy was analyzed in terms of the syndrome differentiation, age, duration of sickness, obesity and hereditary factors.

RESULTSAfter the treatment, the levels of FPG, FINS, Homa-IR, TC, TG and LDL-C were reduced obviously (all P < 0.01) and the levels of ISI, Homa-beta and HDL-C were increased apparently (all P < 0.01). The total clinical effective rate was 80.7% (67/83), in which, that of kidney yin deficiency syndrome was 83.7% (41/49) and that of yin and yang deficiency syndrome was 76.5% (26/34). The efficacy was not different significantly between the two syndromes. But, the younger the age was, the better the efficacy was.

CONCLUSIONAcupuncture positively regulates the glucose and lipid metabolism in the patients of T2DM. This therapy improves insulin resistance, enhances the body sensitivity to insulin and improves insulin beta-cell function. The efficacy is related to the patient's age.

[Objective] To study the effect of anti-infective reconstituted bone xenograft(ARBX)on treating chronic hematogenous osteomyelitis as one-stage grafting.[Method]ARBX was used to treat 24 cases of chronic hematogenous osteomyelitis as one-stage grafting after debridement since September of 2001,17 cases of which were followed up for an average period of 34 months(range,12 to 79 months).[Result]Except 1 case failed to cure,and 1 resulted in recurrence of infection,and 1 with large segmental bone defect nonunion post-operatively,other 14 cases were cured,the cure rate was 82.4% which was better than traditional therapy.[Conclusion]ARBX has high osteoinductive activity and enhanced anti-infective capability,which enables it to be used as primary grafting to treat chronic hematogenous osteomyelitis.

AIM: To study the effects of insulin and glucose on tissue-type plamingen activator (tPA) and its inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) secretion in cultured human endothelial cells. METHODS: Human endothelial cell line ECV-304 was cultured with glucose and/or insulin at different concentrations with or without hypoxic exposure. RESULTS: The tPA, PAI-1 secretion and ratio of tPA/PAI-1 increased in endothelial cells during hypoxia. Insulin and glucose increased the tPA and PAI-1 secretion in endothelial cells exposed to hypoxia, and increase in tPA/PAI-1 ratio was also observed at 4 h and 8 h. CONCLUSION: Hypoxia stimulates the release of tPA and PAI-1. Insulin and glucose also stimulate the tPA and PAI-1 secretion during hypoxia.

Purpose To study the clinicopathologic features and differential diagnosis of primary mucosal melanoma of the nasal cavity (PMMNC).Methods 17 cases of PMMNC diagnosed from January 2003 to September 2016 were studied by clinical pathological analysis and immunohistochemical staining,and relevant literatures were reviewed.Results 73％ of the PMMNC was characterized by unilateral nasal congestion and intermittent epistaxis and 61％ of the PMMNC occurred in the nasal septum and nasal side wall.Microscopically,the organizational structure and morphology were complex and diverse,which had several cell types including epithelioid cell type (6cases,35.3％),spindle cell type (3 cases,17.6％) and snall cell type (5 cases,29.4％),the other 3 cases (17.6％)were mixed cell type.Mitotic activity and tumor necrosis were more likely to be seen in PMMNC,among other clinicopathological features with a small amount of fibrous stroma and melanoma and rich blood vessels.The immunohistochemical study showed that the positive rate of S-100 and HMB-45 were both 93.8％(15 cases) and those of Melan-A and vimentin were both 87.5％ (14 cases),while CK and EMA were both negative (16 cases).Conclusion PMMNC is a rare disease and the phenotype of S-100,HMB-45,Melan-A and vimentin are useful for diagnosis of PMMNC.

Objective: To establish a method for determining the contents of quercetin, kaempferide, and isorhamnetin in Anoectochilus roxburghii and to provide scientific method for quality control of A. roxburghii and its related products. Methods: HPLC was used. Using Lanbo-Kromasil-C18 column, with methanol -0.2% phosphoric acid solution (50:50) as mobile phase; The detection wavelength was 360 nm, flow rate was 1.0 mL/min, and column temperature was 30 ℃. Results: Quercetin, kaempferide, and isorhamnetin showed a good linear relationship in the range of 11.0-165.6 (r = 1.0000), 11.4-170.4 (r = 0.9998), and 10.4-156.0 ng (r = 0.9995). The average recoveries of quercetin, kaempferide, and isorhamnetin were 97.69% (RSD = 1.1%, n = 9), 95.09% (RSD = 1.6%, n = 9), and 95.86% (RSD = 1.7%, n = 9). Conclusion: The method is simple, rapid, accurate, reproducible, and can be used as an ideal method for quality control.
