1.Effect of understanding of stroke patients for illness on direction of rehabilitation
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2004;10(12):749-750
ObjectiveTo investigate the understanding of stroke among stroke patients and promote the direction of rehabilitation.MethodsA survey was carried out among 80 stroke patients by questionnaire.Results42.5% of those patients knew nothing about the risk factor of stroke and the rate of right behavior related to maintain health was relatively low. The rate of satisfaction with rehabilitative direction was only 66.3% though 98% patients had experienced that direction.ConclusionIntensive and continuous direction of rehabilitation is necessary for the stroke patients. Comprehensive health education should be given to those patients to ensure their best self care and improve their quality of living.

Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2021;40(1):112-115
Objective:To investigate differences in serum uric acid levels between elderly patients with prostate cancer and patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods:A total of 300 prostate cancer patients admitted to the urology department of our hospital between Feb.2010 and Jun.2019 were retrospectively analyzed.During the same period, 240 BPH patients and 400 elderly men with normal prostate size were enrolled as the control group.Serum uric acid and prostate-specific antigen(PSA)levels, C-reactive protein(CRP), neutrophil count and lymphocyte count were determined.Serum uric acid concentrations were monitored in prostate cancer patients with different clinicopathological characteristics. Results:CRP and Neu/Lym levels were higher in the prostate cancer group than in the BPH and control groups( P<0.05). The serum uric acid level was (327.0±58.3)μmol/L in the prostate cancer group, lower than in the BPH group(375.2±68.4)μmol/L and the control group(377.8±73.2)μmol/L( F=55.69, P<0.001). Multivariable Logistic regression analysis indicated that serum uric acid was a protective factor for prostate cancer( OR=0.593, 95% CI: 0.542-0.718, P=0.004). There were significant differences in serum uric acid levels between prostate cancer patients with different ages and pathological grades( t=-4.63, F=12.73, P<0.001). However, serum uric acid levels were not significantly correlated with clinical staging or lymph node metastasis( F=-2.72 and 0.77, P=0.068 and 0.460). Conclusions:Compared with BPH patients and healthy males, serum uric acid levels are reduced and inflammatory markers are increased in prostate cancer patients, indicating that serum uric acid may be a risk factor for the occurrence and progression of prostate cancer in the elderly.

Objective To observe the poisoning components in plasma and histological changes of rabbits with acute toxicity of aconitum kusnezoffii (草乌).Methods Eight rabbits were garaged with aconitum kusnezoffii liquor, aconitum poisoning model was reproduced, electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure were recorded, the concentrations of aconitine, hypaconitine and mesaconitine in plasma after 0.5,1, 2,3 and 6 hours were measured, and the pathological changes of heart, liver and cerebral cortex were observed. Results After garage with poisoning liquor, arrhythmias and the declination of blood pressure, presenting a tendency of progressive aggravation [before garage:(121.98?16.77)/(110.66?8.78) mm Hg, 1 hour after garage:(102.98?8.34)/(90.22?5.85) mm Hg,2 hours after garage:(66.81?9.13)/ (53.40?6.32) mm Hg,1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa,all P

Objective To investigate the role of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in the up-regulation of peripheral blood somatic stem cells after acute myocardial infarction in rats. Methods The models of acute myocardial infarction were established in 16 rata by ligation of left anterior descending branch of left coronary artery through chest incision, and the animal were divided into control group(n=8) and experiment group (n=8). The hearts of another 2 rats were obtained for normal myocardial tissue sections as controls. Monoclonal antibody of ICAM-1 was infused from the caudal vein in experimental group, and no invervention was conducted for control group. Blood samples were obtained from caudal vein on the first, third, seventh and fourteenth day after operation in these two groups. Serum concentration of ICAM-1 was measured by ELISA, positive rate of CD34 cells in peripheral blood was detected by flow cytometry, and the parameters of concentration of ICAM-1 and positive rate of CD34 cells at each time point were compared between groups. Results The concentration of ICAM-1 in peripheral blood of experiment group reached the lowest of (59.01±2.22) pg/mL on the seventh day. The concentrations of ICAM-1 in peripheral blood of experiment group were lower than those in control group, and there were significant differences between these two groups on the seventh and fourteenth day(P < 0.01). The positive rate of CD34 cells in peripheral blood of experiment group reached the highest of (12±2.11)% on the seventh day. The positive rates of CD34 cells in peripheral blood of experiment group were higher than those in control group, and there were significant differences between these two groups on the third, seventh and fourteenth day(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion ICAM-1 can inhibit the up-regulation of peripheral blood somatic stem cells after acute myocardial infarction in rats.
