Objective To observe the expression of various antibodies on resection specimens with Hirschsprung's disease(HD), and to find out a special antibody to help the diagnosis of HD. Methods Neuron specific enolase(NSE),S100, Cathepsin D (CAD), Peripherin, protein gene prosuct 9. 5(PGP9. 5) were used as the first antibody to do the EnVision immunohistochemical staining on each end of the resection specimens with HD. Results PGP9.5, NSE, Peripherin were positive both in neuroganglion cells and neuro-plexus in the submucosa and intermuscule; S100 was positive in neutoplexus but negative in neuroganglion cells in the submucosa and intermuscule; CAD was positive in neuroganglion but negative in neuroplexus cells in the submucosa and intermuscule. Conclusion Compared with the other antibodies,CAD is a special antibody which may help the diagnosis of HD; CAD staining results is easy to judge, and it is more faster and economic.

Objective To understand the acute effect of ambient air CO pollution on daily mortality of cerebrocardiovascular diseases among highly and long-term exposed residents of 65 years and over in Taiyuan,Shanxi,China. Methods The relationship of CO concentration and daily mortality of cerebrocardiovascular diseases among residents over 65 years old in Taiyuan(2003-2004) was analyzed by case-crossover design and conditional Logistic regression in SAS 9.0 Results The 48 h accumulated CO concentration had the most significant effect. As increment of CO average was 100 ?g/m~3,the corresponding OR of the effect on the total deaths of the cerebrocardiovascular diseases, the cardiac disease, the ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, cardiac failure, arrhythmia and stroke was 1.006,1.010,1.007,1.005,1.005,1.006 and 1.012 respectively.Under different air pollution conditions, the pollutant presented different effects on deaths of eerebrocardiovascular diseases. Conclusion The current CO pollution has caused a certain adverse effect on the cerebrocardiovascular mortality among residents of 65 years and over in Taiyuan city.More stringent measures should be taken to control the air pollution and decrease CO level, thus reduce the mortality of cerebrocardiovascular diseases.

Objective To explore the blood drug concentration monitoring of sustained-release valproate(DK)in children with epilepsy, focusing on the selection of sampling time and evaluation of the results. Methods Two hundred and seventy-one children taking DK and 155 children taking sodium valproate syrup(VPA Syr)were involved and their serum were taken when achieved steady state to determine the valproic acid level using fluorescence polarization immunoassay. They were divided into 4 groups, which were DK taken once daily group(DK qd group,126 children),DK taken once daily at night and sampled on morning group(DK qn group,26 children),DK taken every 12 h group(DK q12 h group,119 children),VPA Syr q12 h group(155 children).Determine the proportion of the blood drug concentration of each group below, ithin and above the therapeutic range for valproate(50-100 mg/L)were determined. The data were analyzed by t test. Results The Cmin of DK qd group were(73.09?19.91)mg/L,significantly lower from the serum concentration of DK qn and sampled on morning group [(94.94?25.44)mg/L](P0.05).Conclusions DK qn should sampled at night before the night dose. The Cmin of DK q12 h was higher according to the therapeutic range,it's favorable range still needs clinical practice.

AIM: Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, to inspect v sual cortex physical reactions stimulated by rotating grating, and to its components. METHODS: On 1.5T MR scanner, GRE-EPI imaging sequence was carried on 9 h discover ealthy volunteers, the visual cortex response data were processed after delinearation by SPM99.RESULTS: Different components of rotating grating excited different areas of the visual cortex. Dramatic response in the central part of the occipital lobe, which was related to white light stimuli, located at primary visual cortex. Response area in bilateral Broadaman 19 areas was related to vision-motion function. And weak response area in the central part of the occipital lobe was related to shape perception.CONCLUSION: Rotating grating conclude plenty of visual information, and it excites different areas of the optic center as a stimuli. fMRI is a valuable equipment to study the physiology of visual cortex.

Background Researches showed that the content of nitric oxide (NO) and nitric oxide synthetase (NOS) increases in blood, aqueous humor and tear of cataract patient. But the function of NO and NOS in cataract formation is still elusive. Objective The aim of this study was to explore the prevention and treatment effect of NOS inhibitor,1-nitro-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME),on galactose cataract. Methods Sixty clean three-week-old Wistar rats were equally and randomly divided into 3 groups.0.9% Normal saline solution (30 ml/kg) was subcutaneously injected every day for 30 days in the rats of the control group, and 50% of D-galactose solution (30 ml/kg) was used in the rats of the model and L-NAME group at the same way.L-NAME eye drops was simultaneously administered in the L-NAME group 3 times per day for 30 days. The eyes of the rats were examined under the slit lamp in 10,20 and 30 days, and the degree of lens opacification was scored.Lenses of the rats were obtained at the end of this experiment for the detect of NO,NOS contents.Flow cytometry was used to assay the caspase-3 level of rat lens.Repeated measurement two factor analysis of variance was used to analyze the difference of lens opacification scores in different groups and different time points, and one-way ANOVA was used to analyze the differences of NO,NOS and caspase-3 contents in lens among the groups. Results Lens opacification appeared in 10 days after injection of 50% D-galactose solution in the rats of the model group and L-NAME group.Lens opacification score was higher among the different groups and different time points (Ftime =435.251,P =0.000 ;Fgroup =395.120,P=0.000).NO content in the lens was (0.45±0.15) μmol/g,(2.67 ± 0.47) μmol/g and (1.68±0.34) μmol/g in the control group, model group and L-NAME group, showing a significant difference (F=58.872,P=0.000).The NOS contents in the lens was (0.0160±0.0020) U/ml,(0.0370±0.0040) U/ml and (0.0270±0.0010) U/ml in the control group, model group and L-NAME group, showing a significant difference (F =66.174,P=0.000).Caspase-3 contents in the lens was (339.4 ± 37.9),(697.7 ± 46.5) and (650.7 ± 53.1),Showing a significant difference among them (F =100.005,P =0.000).Conclusions The increase of NO,NOS and caspase3 levels are associated with lens opacification.Topical administration of L-NAME eye drops can down-regulate NOS content in lens, reduce the NO formation and inhibit the apoptosis of lens epithelial cells.
