Objective To observe the sub-chronic effects of low doses of arsenic poisoning in rabbits exposed to different periods on some of the serum enzymes and biochemical indicators, and to provide the basis for screening of meaningful hematologic indicators for early diagnosis of arsenic poisoning. Methods Twelve adult rabbits,weighing 2.0 - 3.5 kg, were randomly divided into four groups, 3 in each group, and they were fed with drinking water containing sodium arsenite 0(control),0.01,0.05,0.25 mg/L, respectively. Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate amino transferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), γ-glutamyl transacylase (y-GT), total protein(TP), albumin(ALB), globulin(GLP), and ALB/GLP of rabbit were measured by SYSMEX-180 automated biochemistry analyzer after 8 weeks and 12 weeks exposure. Results The results showed that ALT in 0.05 mg/Lgroup of 12 week[(60.00 ± 4.14)U/L]increased significantly compared with the control[(41.50 ± 2.12)U/L, P ＜0.05];AST in 0.25 mg/L group of 8 week and 12 week[(46.50 ± 3.21 ), (52.33 ± 3.81 )U/L]increased significantly compared with the control[(21.33 ± 3.53), (29.50 ± 3.23 )U/L, all P ＜ 0.05];ALP in 0.05 mg/L and 0.25 mg/L group of 12 week [(78.68 ± 4.85 ), ( 103.00 ± 7.83 ) U / L]increased significantly compared with the control [(45.50 ± 5.50)U/L, all P ＜ 0.05];γ-GT in 0.05 mg/L group of 12 week[(19.33 ± 7.50)U/L]increased significantly compared with the contro1[(8.50 ± 3.53)U/L, P＜ 0.05]. TP, ALB, GLP, ALB/GLP of different groups of 8 week and 12 week were not significantly different statistically(F= 0.77,0.02,0.16,3.14 and 0.51,0.29,0.41,0.52, all P ＞ 0.05). Conclusions Zero point zero five mg/L and higher doses of sub-chronic arsenic exposure has some major damage to the liver. Compared with other serum enzymes and the biochemical indexes, serum AST is a early sensitive indicator of liver injury of the arsenic poisoning.

Objective To explore the danger of lead exposure in newborns who accepted the blood stored in blood bank for blood change treatment.Methods The lead level of blood was examined before and after blood change treatment for 37 neonates with hyperbilirubinemia who accepted 53 cases blood stored in blood bank during Jun.to Dec.2006.The level of blood lead was measured by graphite stove atom absorb spectrum method.Results The average lead level of 53 cases blood stored in blood bank was 101.02 ?g/L,which had attained the level of lead poisoning.There were 15 cases(28.5%) whose blood lead levels was very high(≥100 ?g/L),3 cases whose blood lead level ≥200 ?g/L.After blood change treatment,the percentage of the blood lead level ≥100 ?g/L rose from 2.9% to 19.0%.The average level of blood lead after blood change treatment was higher than before(P

AIM: To investigate the effect of Chinese herbs, Ganxianfang(GXF), on rat hepatic stellate cells (HSC) proliferation and collagen synthesis. METHODS: Two types of herb serum, portal venous serum and circumferential venous serum, were prepared from rats infused intragastrically with 16,8,4 times adult dose of GXF decoction. HSC isolated from rat liver were processed with the above sera in vitro . Then we mensurated the radioactivity of HSC admixed with [ 3H]proline and [ 3H]thymine to judge the effect on proliferation and collagen synthesis of HSC. RESULTS: Both two types of serum collected 0 5, 1, 2 h after intragastrical infusion inhibited HSC proliferation ( P 0 05). CONCLUSION: Inhibition of HSC proliferation and decrease of collagen synthesis may contribute to the GXF antifibrotic action.

Objective To study the sources and the relationship between the management and the outcome of hemorrhage after cephalic pancreatoduodenectomy.Methods The clinical data of 370 patients who underwent pancreatic resection at the Lihuili Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University were retrospectively analyzed.Results Postoperative bleeding occurred in 35 patients with 11 deaths.Among those intraabominal bleeding occurred in 14 cases and gastrointestinal hemorrhage occurred in 22,with one case suffering from both.Bleediug developing within 72 hours after operation in 12 cases (early-stage group),which was caused by improper intraoperative homeostasis.In other 23 cases,bleeding 72 hours after operation(later stage group)was caused by the erosion following pancreatic and/or bile leakage.Relaparotomy was performed in 13 cases and endoscopic homeostasis was performed in 3. Relaparotomy or endoscopic homeostasis was superior to that of conservative therapy in the early-stage group (P0.05).Pancreatic or bile leakage was identified as the significant risk factors for the postoperative bleeding.Conclusions In order to prevent the postoperative hemorrhage and to reduce the mortality of pancreatic resection,skillful techniques,expeditious homeostasis,proper management of stump pancreas and the prevention of pancreatic and bile leakage are essential.

Objective This paper aims at establishing a inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ( ICP-MS) method for quantification and evaluation of iodine in human urine and serum in routine clinical laboratory .Methods This study was methodology validation research on iodine evaluation using ICP-MS.Ammonia, isopropanol and ultrapure water were mixed at certain ratio to dilute samples in the ratio of 1:10, and then the diluted samples were analyzed by ICP -MS.Re was used as the internal standard.And linearity, lower limit of detection, recovery, precision, accuracy, carryover and stability was evaluated thoroughly .Results of iodine of pregnant women who required iodine tests were retrospectively analyzed to evaluate the status of iodine .Results The method only needs 30s for analysis of one sample .It was sensitive with a lower limit detection of 0.87μg/L, the correlation coefficient was higher than 0.999 9 in ten measurements.The recovery in both serum and urine was approximately 100% (95.3% -109.9%). Based on the NIST standard reference material 3668 comparison, the bias was less than 4%( -0.9% -3.9%).The inter-coefficient variation (CV) for serum iodine and urine iodine was 1.2%-3.0%, 2. 0%-2.9%, respectively;and total CV for serum iodine and urine iodine were 3.0%-3.8%, 4.1%-4.9%, respectively.The mean carryover of this method was 0.03% and iodine was stable for at least one month at -20℃ and 4℃.The urine and serum iodine for pregnant women was (154.8 ±89.7) μg/L (mean ±SD),(75.8 ±21.4) μg/L, respectively.The correlation between urine and serum iodine was 0.21. Conclusion Establishe a rapid and simple ICP -MS method for urine and serum iodine measurement with high accurate and precise in routine clinical laboratory .

Objective To master the level of iodine nutrition among population in Jiangxi province,and to provide a scientific basis for establishing the strategy for prevention and control of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD).Methods Retrospective method was adopted to analyze the goiter rate and frequency distribution of urinary iodine of children aged 8-10,the qualified rate of iodized salt,the coverage rate of iodized salt and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt in residents of Jiangxi province from 1995 to 2010.The method of correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between goiter rate of children (by palpation) and the qualified rate of iodized salt,iodized salt coverage rate and residents consumption rate of qualified iodized salt.Results The goiter rates (measured by the method of palpation) of children aged 8-10 were down from 40.17％(482/1200) in 1995 to 0.80％(16/2000) in 2010(x2 =4.864,P＜ 0.05).The median of urinary iodine of children was higher than 200 μg/L; the proportion of people whose urinary iodine content higher than 300 μg/L was above 25.00％ and the highest propoaion was up to 58.01％ (210/362) between 1995-2010.The minimum median of salt iodine was 17.77 mg/kg in 1995,and 29.30-39.10 mg/kg in other years.The qualified rates of iodized salt,the iodized salt coverage rates and the consumption rates of qualified iodized salt increased from 43.58％(452/1037),86.42％(1037/1200) and 37.67％(452/1200) in 1995 to 97.95％ (1916/1956),99.95％(1956/1957) and 97.90％(1916/1957) in 2010,respectively; there was a growth trend over the years(x2 =5.240,6.118,5.631,all P ＜ 0.05).The goiter rates of children were related to the qualified rates of iodized salt,the iodized salt coverage rates and the consumption rates of qualified iodized salt,and the correlation coefficient(r) was-0.833,-0.881 and-0.918 (all P ＜ 0.05),respectively.Conclusions The level of iodine nutrition among residents in Jiangxi province has already gone beyond the appropriate level,and the iodine concentration in salt should be cut to ensure the appropriate iodine nutrition level among people.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of puerarin on ADRP gene mRNA expression in fatty tissue of type 2 diabetes mellitus rats (T2DM).

METHODWiastar rats of T2DM model were made by feeding with high glucose and fat diet and injecting with small dose of streptozocin (25 mg x kg(-1)). 40 model rats were randomly divided into model control group and three puerarin groups (40, 80, 160 mg x kg(-1)), another 10 rats were selected as normal control group. FBG and FINS were measured to calculate IR after rats were injected consecutively for 6 weeks. The level of ADRP gene mRNA in fatty tissue was determined by RT-PCR after rats were injected eight weeks.

RESULTCompared with model control group, high and middle dosage of puerarin can decreased ADRP gene mRNA expression in fatty tissue obviously, FBG, IR level in each puerarin group and FINS in high and middle dosage puerarin groups decreased obviously.

CONCLUSIONPuerarin can decrease the blood glucose level of T2DM by downregulating ADRP mRNA expression and depressing the insulin resistance.
