Objective To investigate the effect of up-regulating miR-34c-5p on cloning formation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line HONE-1 in vitro. Methods Expression levels of miR-34c-5p in nasopharyngeal cell line NP69 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line HONE-1 were investigated by real time quantitative PCR;Cloning Forma?tion Test and Transwell Migration Assay were used to explore the effect of up-regulating miR-34c-5p on proliferation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line HONE-1. Results The expression of miR-34c-5p in nasopharyngeal car?cinoma cell line HONE-1 was lower than that in normal nasopharyngeal cell line NP69. Up-regulating miR-34c-5p signifi?cantly suppressed the cloning formation and migration capacity, compared to those of NP69 cell line and HONE-1 with nor?mal level of miR-34c-5p(P<0.05). Conclusion Down-regulating miR-34c-5p involve in proliferation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and may be a used as a new therapeutic target for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Objective To investigate the efficacy, safety and tolerance of bosentan, a dual endothelin receptor antagonist, in Chinese patients with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH).Methods Totally 79 IPAH patients (hemodynamic criteria confirmed by right heart catheterization) were included in this open-label, prospective multicenter study. Patients received 62. 5 mg of bosentan twice daily for the first 4 weeks, and then up-titrated to 125 mg twice daily for another 12 weeks. The primary end point was the change in exercise capacity showed by six-minute walk distance (6MWD) from baseline to 16 weeks. Secondary end points included the change in World Health Organization (WHO) functional class,Borg dyspnoea scale and systolic pulmonary artery pressure measured by echocardiography. Results The 6MWD increased from (343. 7 ± 93.7) meters at baseline to (397.5 ± 104. 4) meters after 16 weeks ( P <0. 01 ), WHO functional class and Borg dyspnoea scale were also significantly improved after 16 weeks therapy compared to baseline levels (all P <0. 01 ). Furthermore, the systolic pulmonary artery pressure was significantly decreased from (97.8±25.2) mm Hg (1 mm Hg=0. 133 kPa) to (92.8 ±29.5) mm Hg (P <0. 05) after 16 weeks bosentan treatment. There was no patient withdrawal from this study for safety consideration. Conclusion Bosentan therapy is well tolerated and can improve the exercise capacity and WHO functional class in Chinese IPAH patients.

Objective To study on the effect of indicator animals in plague surveillance throngh detecting F1 antibody against Yersiniapestis(Y.pestis)in indicator animals in wild rat plague foci, provide scientific evidence for plague control and determining the range of epidemic area. Methods According to investigation scheme of wild rodents plagne foci in Yunnan Province, indicator animals Canis familiarils and Felis catu(C.familiarils and F.catus)related to the plague were investigated in 75 villages,14 township and 10 counties around Yulong County, and living rodents were captured by cage, sera of indicator animals and rodents relevant to plague were simultaneously collected and detected for F1 antibody against Y.pestis using indirect hemagglutination(IHA).Results Seropositivity rate of indicator animals were 6.76%(202/2987),being 24.69% in C.familiaris and 24.69% in F.catus, there were statistical significance(X2=87.32,P<0.01)between C familiaris and F catus, the latter beingmore than the former. But F1 antibody of rodents sera were not detected, its seropositivity rate was zero.there was a statistical significance(P<0.01)between indicator animals and rodents. Conclusions Through serocpidemiological survey of indicator animals, new wild rat plague natural focus has been confirmed in YuLong County and Gucheng District in LiJiang City, therefore, serocpidemiological surveillance of indicator animals is very important for plague control and prevention.

This study aims to explore the efficacy of interferon-α (IFN-α) combined with either entecavir (ETV) or adefovir (ADV) therapy versus IFN-α mono-therapy for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients, and to identify the factors associated with treatment outcomes.Totally,159 CHB patients receiving interferon-based treatment for 48 weeks were enrolled in this retrospective study, including IFN-α mono-therapy group (group A,n=44),IFN-α plus ADV group (group B,n=53) and IFN-α plus ETV group (group C,n=62).The primary measures of efficacy assessments were the changes in HBsAg.Cox regression analysis was used to identify the predictors of treatment outcomes. The predictive values of the factors were assessed by ROC analysis. For patients with baseline hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) level <1000 IU/mL,the reductions in mean HBsAg levels at week 48 were greater in group C than that in group A (P<0.05).Higher rate of HBeAg seroconversion was achieved in the combined therapy group than in IFN-α mono-therapy group at week 48 (P<0.05).Two factors were independently associated with HBeAg seroconversion:baseline HBeAg level <2.215 log10 index/mL and △HBeAg (.decline in HBeAg from baseline) >0.175 log10 at week 12.In conclusion,interferon-α plus ETV therapy can accelerate HBsAg decline as compared with interferon-α mono-therapy in CHB patients with lower baseline HBsAg levels, and the combination therapy was superior to IFN-α mono-therapy in increasing the rate of HBeAg seroconversion.Baseline HBeAg and △HBeAg at week 12 can independently predict HBeAg seroconversion in patients subject to interferon-based therapy for 48 weeks.
