Objective To analyze the clinical and radiographic characterstics of ureteral polyps with hydronephrosis in children. Methods Thirteen patients with ureteral polyps and hydronephrosis were studied retrospectively. All patients underwent abdominal plain film, intravenous pyelogram(IVP)and ultrasound(US)examinations,contrast-enhanced CT scan was performed in 10 cases. Results Intermittent or recurrent abdominal pain with painless hematuria was presented in most cases.Hydronephrosis was demonstrated in radiographic images.IVP delineated the dilatation of the ureter and filling defects within the ureteral lumen in 5 cases.Computed tomography(CT)showed all abnormal changes of ureter and irregular intraluminal soft tissue masses in 6 cases.Moderate and low echoic structures were showed in ureters by US in 2 cases. Conclusion US and CT,as an important imaging modalities, can improve the diagnostic accuracy for ureteral polyps.

AIM: To investigate the status of myopia in students from different kinds of schools in Shantou city, China.
METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, 2 418 students from 4 middle and high schools in Shantou were surveyed through randomized cluster sampling. Ophthalmic examination and auto-refraction were performed for all subjects.
RESULTS: Among all 2 394 students examined. The myopia rates for students from middle and high school were 48. 07% and 68. 28%. In normal middle school, students from rural area had lower rate of myopia than students from the urban area (χ2 = 13. 879, P<0. 01 ). Students from key rural high schools had lower rate of myopia than students from key urban high school (χ2 =175. 231, P<0. 01).
CONCLUSION:The prevalence of myopia in the middle school of urban area in Shantou was higher than rural area. The increasing rate of myopia in youngsters is correlated with study stress. In order to decrease the myopia rate, it is extremely important to improve study environment in students.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
The genes of maltooligosyl trehalose synthase (MTSase) and maltooligosyl trehalose tetrahydrolase(MTHase) from Sulfolobus solfataricus ATCC 35092 were amplified using PCR. The expression plasmids, pTrc99a-MTSase and pTrc99a-MTHase, were constructed by inserting these two DNA fragments into E. coli expression vector pTrc99a. The specific activity of MTSase and MTHase in E. coli BL21(DE3) at optimal fermentation conditions reached 31.3U/g (wet cell) and 403U/g (wet cell), respectively. The biotransformation of partially hydrolyzed starch to trehalose catalyzed by MTSase and MTHase was carried out at 75℃ and pH 5.0. The highest yield of trehalose (ca. 53.6%) was gained when the original starch concentration was 15%(w/v) and the DE value was 10.

Objective:To investigate the effectiveness of irbesartan in combination with ramipril for treatment of chronic heart failure in patients with rheumatic heart disease(RHD).Methods:A total of 120 RHD patients with chronic heart failure were randomized into treatment group(n=60)and control group(n=60)after valve replacement. All patients received regular ramipril treatment(5 mg/d);treatment group were also given irbesartan(150 mg/d).The patients were followed up for 6 months. The indices of observation included cardiac function(NYHA Class),6-Minute Hall Walk distance, and echocardiographie parameters. Results:Six months later the cardiac function in the treatment group was obviously improved compared with the control group;the patients in the treatment group had significant increase in 6-Minute Hall-Walk distance and improvement in echocardiographic parameters(left ventricle end-systolic diameters,end-diastolic diameter, ejection fraction, fractional shortening,P

Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2013;29(2):106-109
OBJECTIVETo observe the regulation of heart rate to cardiac pump function in the phase of negative force-frequency relationship and their possible mechanisms.
METHODSThe left ventricular pressure, aortic pressure, and cardiac output were measured in isolated working heart of rat from 240 to 300 beats/min of pacing rate.
RESULTSCardiac output of isolated working heart was decreased by a proximally 20% (P < 0.01) with the increase in the pacing rate from 240 to 300 beats/min. Left ventricular end-systolic pressure (LVESP) was declined by 4.8% (P < 0.05), but left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) was elevated by 139% (P < 0.01) with an increase in the pacing rate. Left atrium was enlarged at 300 beats/min of pacing rate. The time from peak to 75% relaxation in left ventricular pressure was shortened with the increased pacing rate. Pressure at aortic valve close was raised (P < 0.01) and ejection duration was shortened with the increased pacing rate (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThose above results suggest that there are different mechanisms between the depressed cardiac output at higher heart rate and negative force-frequency relationship. The frequency-dependent acceleration of relaxation facilitates the decline of left ventricular pressure, and then may elevate the pressure of aortic valve close in the condition that the shape of aortic pressure curve stays the same. Therefore, the ejection duration is shortened at higher pacing rate. The shortened ejection duration may induce a decrease in stroke volume of the left ventricle. The increment of heart rate is not enough to compensate the decreased stroke volume. Finally, cardiac output shows a decrease at higher heart rate.

OBJECTIVETo analyze micromovement of distal tihiofihular joints in different motion range of ankle joint ,and define the micromovement characteristic and range of distal tibiofihular joints.
METHODSTwelve normal Chinese were chosen. There were 9 males and 3 females, aged from 19 to 37 years old with an average (26.5 +/- 0.5) years. Detection terminals of laser photographic scanner were installed near the highest point between medial malleolus and lateral malleolos, the change of detection terminals on the position of dorsiflex, extension, introversion and eversion of ankle joint were scanned by 3D-laser scanner. The displacement of two detection terminals on the X ,Y and Z-axis (X-axis stands for the vertical-axis between coronal plane and Z-axis Y-axis stands for the vertical-axis between sagittal plane and Z-axis Z-axis stands for macroaxis of tibia).
RESULTSAlong with increased range of motion on the position of dorsiflex ,extension, introversion and eversion of ankle joint, the range of micromovement of distal tibiofibolar joints increased too. The max-displacement of X, Y and Z were respectively (1.04 +/- 0.12) mm, (1.70 +/- 0.16) mm and--(0.87 +/- 0.10) mm.
CONCLUSION3D-laser scanner can be used to determine the detailed displacement of distal tibiofibolar joint on the X , Y and Z, and measure the motion of distal tibiofibular joint. The method can be used to study the pathologic change of distal tibiofibular joint ,and provide basic biomechnics data for internal fixtor fitting for the characteristic of distal tibiofibular joint.
