1.Detection of transfusion transmitted virus infection and genotypes in pregnant women
Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2001;0(06):-
Objective To clarify the frequency, the routes of transmission from mother to infant, the correlation factors and distribution of genotypes of transfusion transmitted virus (TTV) infection. Methods Nested polymerase chain reaction (n PCR) was performed to detect TTV DNA and genotypes in serums and breast milks from 160 cases of pregnant women. Results TTV DNA in serum and breast milk was detected in 64 (40 0%) and 60 (37 5%) of 160 cases of pregnant women respectively. The positive rates of TTV DNA from HBV markers (+) and normal groups were 50 0%, 43 1% and 13 6%, 22 7% respectively in serums and breast milk. There were significant difference between the two groups ( P

Objective To evaluate a preliminary outcome of volar surgical treatment of dorsally displaced fractures of distal radius with open reduction and internal fixation with T shape locking compression plate. Methods From January 2009 to January 2012,32 cases with dorsally unstable distal radius fractures were treated with open reduction and internal fixation with T shape locking compression plate. Results All patients were followed; the average follow-up period was 12 (8-18) months. The patients all healed well.According to Dienst scoring system, the results were excellent in 23 cases, good in 7 cases, fair in 2 cases, the excellent and good rate was 93.75%(30/32).Conclusions The volar fixation of T shape locking compression plate for dorsally displaced fractures of distal radius has advantage of stable and reliable, high healing rate, low rate of complications and early motion. It is especially suitable for osteoporosis patients.
6.Progresses on Biosynthesis of Long Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Plant
China Biotechnology 2006;0(12):-
There is immense interest in the long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids(LC-PUFAs) on account of their health-beneficial properties. There has been considerable interest in the production of LC-PUFAs in transgenic plants to provide a cheap, sustainable and clean source of these fatty acids.Several main LC-PUFAs,their roles and metabolic pathway in plant are introducedbriefly, progresses on biosynthesis of LC-PUFAs in transgenic plant are reviewed, and strategies for improving the yields of LC-PUFAs in plant are also discussed.
7.Advances in Application Studies of FAD2 on Biosynthesis of Industrial Fatty Acids
China Biotechnology 2006;0(05):-
Many unusual fatty acids present in the seed oils of non-food plants are modified at the ?12 position either by the addition of epoxy or hydroxy groups or by the formation of triple (acetylenic) bonds or conjugated double bonds. The introduction of these functionalities into C18 fatty acids is catalyzed by a family of divergent forms of the fatty-acid ?12-desaturase (FAD2) enzyme. Genes encoding these enzymes have now been cloned from a variety of organisms and expressed in transgenic oilseeds. However, the accumulation of the intended fatty acids in transgenic plants has been relatively disappointing, and the mechanisms of these unusual fatty acids biosynthesis and transferring from phosphatidylcholine into storage triacylglycerols still need to be elucidated.

Objective To investigate the long-term effects of xanthine oxidase inhibitor, oxypurinol on myocardial contractility of post-ischemic heart failure in mice, and explore the underlying mechanism. Methods One hundred and twenty SV120 mice were randomly assigned into myocardial infarction control group, sham operation group and Oxy treatment group.Post-ischemic heart failure were induced by left anterior descending coronary artery ligation in myocardial infarction control group and Oxy treatment group, and mice in Oxy treatment group and sham operation group were orally administered with 0.5 mmol/L Oxy each day.Nine to eleven months after treatment, echocardiography was performed in all groups.Trabeculae from the right ventricle of mice were dissected for assessment of changes in excitation-contraction coupling.Sarcomere length was measured by laser diffraction.Intracellular free Ca~(2+) concentration([Ca~(2+)]_I)was detected with fluorescent dye Fura-2,which was microinjected iontophoretically into cells. Steady-state force-[Ca~(2+)]_I was achieved by addition of ryanodine and increasing the stimulus frequency to induce tetanization, and the relationship between myocardial contractility and intracellular Ca~(2+) transients was analysed.Besides,Western blotting was performed to determine the oxidation of myofilament proteins. Results Long-term oral administration of oxypurinol significantly improved myocardial contraction function and reduced ventricular wall thickness.Programming of excitation-contraction coupling was significantly improved, and maximal Ca~(2+) activated force(F_(max))in steady-state wag also significantly increased.Western blotting revealed the oxidative modification of actin in mice of Oxy treatment group was significantly inhibited compared with that of myocardial infarction control group. Conclusion Long-term treatment with Oxy improves the cardiac contraction function and boosts the cardiac force dramatically in post-ischemia heart failure. The increase in contraction is the result of increased myofilament Ca~(2+) responsiveness. Thus, antioxidant oxypurinol,by preventing oxidative damage to contractile proteins, can augment contraction with little changes in[Ca~(2+)]_I,represents new class of inotropic agents with advantages of reducing Ca~(2+) overload, and offers new promises in management of heart failure in the future.

Objective To investigate skin manifestations and comorbidities of chronic arsenicosis due to conta?minated drinking water, and to explore their possible risk factors. Methods Data about demographic characteristics, skin manifestations and comorbidities were collected from 95 patients with chronic arsenicosis due to contaminated drinking water in Inner Mongolia, and retrospectively analyzed. A logistic regression model was established to analyze associations of skin manifestations and comorbidities with patients′ gender, age, age at onset of drinking of arsenic?contaminated water, arsenic concentrations in water and duration of arsenic exposure. Results Among the 95 patients, 77 had hyperpigmentation, 75 hypopigmentation, 93 palmoplantar keratoderma, 27 skin cancer, and 8 multiple skin cancer. Five patients were complicated by tuberculosis, 15 by hypertension, 2 by rheumatoid arthritis, 4 by cerebral infarction, 7 by coronary heart diseases, 3 by internal malignancy, 6 by hepatic cirrhosis and 2 by anemia. Logistic regression analysis revealed a significant correlation between hyperpigmentation and arsenic concentrations in water(OR=0.32, 95%CI=0.10-0.98;ORadjusted=0.27, 95%CI=0.08-0.90), between occurrence of hepatic cirrhosis and arsenic concentrations in water (OR=24.67, 95%CI=2.69-226.57;ORadjusted=22.51, 95%CI=2.38-213.11), and between occurrence of coronary heart diseases and duration of arsenic exposure(OR=6.41, 95%CI=1.09-37.88;ORadjusted=8.55, 95%CI=1.21-60.41). Conclusions There is a high incidence of aberrant pigment metabolism, palmoplantar keratoderma and skin cancer in patients with chronic arsenicosis due to contaminated drinking water. Different arsenic concentrations in water and duration of arsenic exposure seem to have different influences on the human body.
