1.Induced differentiation of stem cells into androgen-secreting cells.
National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(8):753-756
Leydig cells are the major source of androgens in males. Stem cells can be induced to differentiate into androgen-secreting Leydig like cells, whose functions are regulated by the hypothalamus and pituitary, so that they precisely secret the necessary hormones to maintain physiological function. Therefore, the establishment of an effective protocol to induce the differentiation of stem cells into androgen-secreting cells is very helpful for the treatment of hypogonadism caused by abnormalities of Leydig cells. This review outlines the recent findings concerning the differentiation of stem cells into androgen-secreting cells.

2.Updated relationship between testosterone and prostate cancer.

National Journal of Andrology 2014;20(8):675-678
Androgen deprivation therapy can effectively suppress the progression of prostate cancer, but accumulating evidence for the relationship of testosterone with prostate cancer challenges the conventional wisdom. High levels of testosterone are not risk factors for prostate cancer, nor promote its development. On the contrary, a low testosterone level indicates a worse pathological stage. So far there has been no strong evidence to prove the role of testosterone in the occurrence and progression of prostate cancer. Therefore, the relationship between testosterone and prostate cancer is quite complicated and deserves further investigation.

Shan Qi soy has busting bags, bacteria sum overproof, continue acidification and other problems occasionally during the storage. It's probably caused by the Lactobacillus continue growth in the soy. We tried expounding the relationship between growth and producing acid when Lactobacillus growing in the thin fermented material.

Peliosis hepatis is a rare benign hepatic vascular disease. There is the lack of specific clinical features and preoperative diagnosis.A patient with intermittent liver area pain was admitted to the Third Central Hospital of Tianjin in April 2014.The patient with space-occupying lessions of the right lobe of liver was preliminarily diagnosed as with hepatocellular tumor or vasogenic tumor by computed tomography and B ultrasound examinations and then received liver resection combined with cholecystectomy. The result of postoperative pathological examination confirmed peliosis hepatis with adenomatous hyperplasia of liver cells. The patient was followed up till October 20,2014 without recurrence.

Objective To explore the effect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS) treatment on the brain derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) serum levels in depressive patients. Methods Sixty-eight unipolar depressions treated with venlafaxine were randomly assigned to the real rTMS group(n =34)and the sham rTMS group(n =34),which were accepted the real or the shame rTMS treatment on the left dorsolateral prefrontal lobes respectively. The Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD) and BDNF serum was assayed before and after 4 weeks' treatment. Results 1) A significant increase of serum BDNF((12.2 ± 1.3) μg/L vs (5.6 ± 0.8) μg/L,t=-9.167,P=0.000;(11.4 ± 1.5)μg/L vs (6.0± 1.0)μg/L,t=-7.421,P=0.000)and a significant decline of HAMD((11.6 ± 1.7) score vs (32.6 ± 2.5) score,t =14.654,P =0.000 ; (4.2 ± 2.8) score vs (31.8 ± 3.2)score,t=12.089,P =0.000) were found after the treatment in the real and the shame group, and the real group changed more significantly than the shame group ((6.7 ± 0.8) μg/L vs (5.1 ± l.2) μg/L,t =2.690,P =0.009 ; (21.0 ± 2.1) score vs (17.6 ± 2.6) score,t =2.693,P =0.000).2) A negative correlation was found between the serum BDNF levels and the HAM D scores before the treatment(r =-0.530,P=0.003; r =-0.490,P =0.004),and a positive correlation between changes of BDNF levels and HAMD scores changes(r =0.439,P =0.006 ; r =0.454,P =0.005).Conclusion The rTMS treatment can increase serum BDNF levels in depressive patients.

Objective:To determine if suitable electric pulses-mediated DNA and DNA and bupivacaine complexes delivery technologies could enhance effects of botulinum neurotoxin serotype A (BoNT/A) DNA vaccines in mouse model. Methods:Vaccination of mice i.m. with plasmid DNA replicon vaccine pSCARSHc and conventional plasmid DNA vaccine pcDNASHc following electric pulses and with DNA and bupivacaine complexes. AHc-specific group antibody ELISA titers and lymphocyte proliferative responses of mice were detected and IgG1 and IgG2a isotype profiles were assayed. Results:Immune effects of DNA vaccines were enhanced following electric pulses and bupivacaine delivery. Effects of DNA vaccines following electric pulses were better than that of DNA vaccines formulated with bupivacaine, and the combined delivery technology of electric pulses and bupivacaine induced the highest level of specific antibodies and lymphocyte proliferative responses. Plasmid DNA replicon vaccine pSCARSHc induced relatively higher AHc-specific antibodies and lymphocyte proliferative responses in immunized Balb/c mice than conventional plasmid DNA vaccine pcDNASHc in these DNA delivery technologies. And vaccine pSCARSHc induced Th2/Th1-type immune responses with a general bias to Th2-type,and vaccine pcDNASHc induced Th2-type immune responses. Conclusion:Suitable electric pulses-mediated DNA and DNA and bupivacaine complexes delivery technologies could enhance effects of BoNT/A DNA vaccines in mouse model. Therefore, the methods described here potentially provide suitable strategies in developing an efficacious vaccine against botulinum neurotoxin serotype A.

Objective To analyze the features of clinical diagnosis and treatment of duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST).Methods Retrospective analysis was performed on clinical data of 5 cases of duodenal GIST treated in our hospital between April 2002 and May 2009.Results The duodenal GIST was mainly located in the 2nd(3/5)and 3rd portion of duodenum(2/5).Clinical diagnosis of the disease mainly depended on barium meal examination, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and CT scanning. Two patients were treated with pancreaticoduodenectomy, 1 with segmental duodenectomy and 2 with local resection. After operation, 2 patients had recurrence and 1 of them underwent adjuvant therapy with Gleevec. Conclusion Surgical resection is the only effective therapeutic method for duodenal GIST.Various surgical procedures are mainly determined by the location and size of the tumors. For patients with a high degree of pathologic grade, adjuvant therapy with Gleevec is necessary.
