Objective To establish the model of P2 peptide-induced experimental autoimmune neuritis(EAN)in rats and explore the roles of Th_1/Th_2 type eytokines in EAN.Methods Lewis rats were grouped into EAN rats and control rats.The EAN rats were immunized by injection into both hind footpads of inoculums containing 100 ?g or 200 ?g of P2_(57-81)peptide and FCA while the control rats were immunized with FCA only.Clinical scores were compared at the maximum of disease.Supernatant productions of IFN- ?, IL-4 and IL-10 secreted by lymphocytes and obtained on day 14 after the immunization were examined. Objective To study the methods and outcome of 71 patients with Parkinson's disease treated with microelectrode-guided stereotactic pallidotomy and thalamotomy. Method Pallidal and thalamal target sites are chosen by supervision of microelectrode recording technique in 71 patients with Parkinson's disease. The UPDRS motor score was used to evaluate the outcomes 12 weeks before and after operation Result After 12 months follow-up, tremor disappeared completely or nearly completely in 12 patients who underwent unilateral and l bilateral ventrolateral thalamotomy. Dramatic improvement of tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia were observed in 57 patients underwent posteroventral pallidotomy,including 6 underwent bilateral posteroventral pallidotomy. Intracerebral hemorrhage was observed in l patient. Conclusion Microelectrode-guided stereotactic pallidotomy and thalamotomy are effective in treatmenting Parkinson's disease, but with serious complications

BACKGROUND:The majority of published article on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) used healthy animals. In fact, patients commonly have severe heart diseases before CPR, leading to ventricular fibrillation. OBJECTIVE: To investigate outcome of myocardial function and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in myocardial infarction rats treated with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) transplantation.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled animal experiment was performed at the University of Southern California and Second Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from April to August 2007.MATERIALS: A total of 18 adult male SD rats were randomly divided into model control and cell transplantation groups with 9 animals in each group. In addition, 1 SD rat aged 1 month was used to prepare bone marrow MSCs.METHODS: Myocardial ischemia was induced by ligation of the left anterior descending artery (LAD). Animals respectively received 5×106 MSCs (0.1 mL) marked with PKH26 in phosphate buffer solution (PBS) or PBS alone 4 weeks after LAD ligation. Ventricular fibrillation and CPR were performed 4 weeks after MSCs or PBS injection.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Heart function was evaluated by ultrasound cardiography 2, 4 weeks after transplantation; hemodynamics was measured before and 4 hours following CPR. Myocardial tissues were harvested 72 hours after CPR for pathological exanimation.RESULTS: Compared with model control group, ejection fraction of transplantation group was significantly increased 2 and 4 weeks after transplantation (P<0.01), and cardiac index, dp/dt40, and -dp/dt were significantly improved before and within 4 hours after CPR (P<0.01, P<0.05). Moreover, the rats survived longer in transplantation group (72 hours) after CPR compared with control group (P<0.05). Pathological section results showed a large number of PKH26-1abeled MSCs in the rnyocardium.CONCLUSION: Myocardial function, hemodynamics and survival time after CPR were significantly improved in animals treated with MSCs transplantation.

Objective To observe the clinical effects of hyperbaric oxygen combined large dose ganglioside on delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide poisoning(DEACMP).Methods A totol of 72 patients of DEACMP were randomly divided into the observation group(37)and the control group(35).The patients of control group were given the routine treatment with hyperbaric oxygen.In the treatment group patients were given large doses of gangliosides 100 mg,1 times a day,for a period of 20 to 30 days additionally to the routine treatment of hyperbaric oxygen.All patients were examined before and after treatment in EEG examination (EEG),mini-mental state examination(MMSE).Results The abnormal rate of EEG was 37.83％(14/37) in the control group,which was significantly lower than that of 65.71％(23/35) in the treatment group((x2 =5.60,P ＜ 0.05).In the treatment group,the MMSE was(15.45±2.93) and(23.70±2.13) before and after treatment,respectively; in the control group,the MMSE was(14.88±2.84) and(20.33±2.09) before and after treatment.The MMSE was significantly impoved after treatment in both group(t =3.18 and 2.91,Ps ＜0.05).Furthermore,the MMSE impoved more significantly in the treatment group compared to the control group (t =6.28,P ＜ 0.05).The effective rate of treatment group was 86.48％(32/37),which was significantly higher than that of 51.43％(20/35) in the control group(x2 =7.72,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Application of large dose ganglioside treatment had significant clinical effects in delayed encephalopathy after acute car-bon monoxide poisoning,which is better than the effect of routine hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

AIM: To establish the quality standard for Yanqingsong Granule (Radix P uerariae, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, et c.). METHODS: Radix Puerariae; Rhizoma Chuanxio ng; Radix Paeoniae Alba; Radix Angelicae Dahuricae. in Yanqingsong Granule were identified by TLC, and the content of puerarin was determined by HPLC. RESULTS: Radix Puerariae; Rhizoma Chuanxio ng; Radix Paeoniae Alba; Radix Angelicae Dahuricae could be identified by TLC. P uerarin showed a good linear relationship at a ran ge of 0.1716～0.8580?g,r=0.9999. The average recovery was 97.49% (RSD= 1.77% and n=6). CONCLUSION: The methods are available with a reproducibility and ca n control the quality of this granule effectively.

The contents of coumarins in the sulfur fumigated Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, ADR) were reduced significantly. To achieve the quality control of ADR, the qualitative identification of sulfur fumigated ADR and quantitative model of imperatorin content should be established. The near-infrared (NIR) spectrograms of non-sulfur and sulfur fumigated ADR were collected by NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy technology and pretreated by the method of first derivative derivation and vector normalization. The Ward's Algorithm method was used for the cluster analysis. The non-sulfur and sulfur fumigated ADR can be quickly identified in the range of 8,806. 0-3 811.0 cm(-1) based on the cluster analysis. The NIR quantitative model of imperatorin was established by the contents of imperatorin determined by HPLC in combination with partial least squares regression analysis. According to the calibration model established in this study, correlation coefficients (R2), the root-mean-square error of cross-validation (RMSECV), and the root-mean-square error of prediction (RMSEP) for imperatorin were 0.982 8, 0.006 8, 0.011 8, respectively. The quantitative model of imperatorin can be applied to determine the content of imperatorin in ADR accurately.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect and feasibility of acupuncture in uterine involution after cesarean section.

METHODSSeventy cases of cesarean section in primipara were randomized into an observation group (33 cases) and a control group (37 cases). In the control group, the conventional treatment was adopted after cesarean section. In the observation group, on the basic treatment as the control group, acupuncture was applied at Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Hegu (LI 4), Qihai (CV 6) and Guanyuan (CV 4). In 2 h after operation, acupuncture started, once a day, continuously for five times. The daily height of uterine fundus, daily uterine fundus decreasing degree, postpartum blood loss, lochia duration and ultrasonic B test in 42 days of postpartum were compared between the two groups.

RESULTSThe therapeutic methods of the two groups all promoted uterine contraction. The postpartum height of uterine fundus in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (all P<0.05) and the uterine fundus decreasing degree was higher than that in the control group (all P<0.05). The blood loss in 2 h, 6 to 12 h and 24 to 48 h of postpartum was less than that in the control group (all P<0.05). The lochia duration in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONAcupuncture promotes uterine contraction, reduces postpartum blood loss and lochia duration and benefits uterine involution after cesarean section.
