Objective To evaluate the value of endometrial volume measurement and 3-dimensional power Doppler imaging(3D-PDI) in the differentiation between endometrial polyps and endometrial hyperplasia.Methods One hundred and fifty-six women who diagnosed as thick and inhomogeneous endometrium or hyperechogenic focal intrauterine structures by 2D ultrasound were enrolled,including 50 patients with endometrial polyps in the proliferative phase,51 cases with hyperplasia and 55 cases with normal histology or others.All were scheduled for hysteroscopy,dilatation and curettage,and the ultrasound was performed within 24 hours before the procedure. Endometrial volume, vascularity index (VI), flow index (FI) and vascularity flow index (VFI) were measured. These parameters were compared between endometrial polyps group and endometrial hyperplasia group.Results These parameters (endometrial volume,VI,FI and VFI) were all considered statistically significant between two groups.Conclusions Endometrial volume and 3D-PDI are good diagnostic tools in the differentiation between endometrial polyps and endometrial hyperplasia.

Objective To evaluate the early therapeutic effect of flail chest with pulmonary contusion by using different mode of mechanical ventilation. Methods Twenty-nine patients of flail chest with pulmonary contusion were analysed retrospectively. All the patients were treated with the ventilator Bear1000. Two groups were established: invasion group was treated with SIMV+PEEP(8 cases) and CPAP+PSV (7 cases), noninvasion group was treated with NIPPV(14 cases). Results There was no death in all the patients. CPAP+PSV was more effective than SIMV+PEEP not only in decreasing breath rate and improving hypoxemia but also in decreasing peak inspiratory pressure(P

Objective To investigate the proliferation and identification of dendritic cells(DC)de- rived from peripheral blood of patients with bladder cancer in vitro.Methods The mononuclear cells were prepared from peripheral blood of patients with bladder cancer by Ficoll-Hypaque centrifugation method,and were induced by the recombinant cytokines hGM-CSF(50 ng/ml),hlL-4(10 ng/ml)and hTNF-?(50 ng/ ml)for 2 weeks.The growth and morphology of DC were observed through the phase contrast or electron mi- croscope,and their pheuotypes were determined by flow cytometry.The capacity of DC to activate T cell-de- pendent anti-tumor immune responses was tested by MTT method.Results The DC cultured in vitro turned into suspensive growth from adhesive situation on the 6th day,then the number of DC increased con- tinuously and the cells showed the irregular morphologic appearance of DC with veiled edges on the 8th day. Flow cytometry showed that the mature DC expressed high levels of specific markers such as CD_(1a),CD_(83), CD_(86)and HLA-DR.T cells activated by DC showed strong cytotoxicity to bladder cancer cell line BIU87 with a killing rate of(48.8?3.7)%,while the killing rate of T cells which were not activated by DC was(25.7?1.5)%;the difference of the rate between them was significant(P＜0.01). Conclusions The DC can be cultured from peripheral blood of patients with bladder cancer by induction of rhGM-CSF,rhIL-4 and hT- NF-?in vitro.This may lay an experimental foundation for further research on DC vaccine.

Objective To study the conventional MRI and dittusion weighted imaging(DWI) features of Japanese encephalitis(JE)in children.Methods Sixteen patients with JE were included. Conventional MRI and DWI sequences were performed in all patients.Seven patients received MRI within 10 days of onset and 9 after 10 days.The appearances on DWI and T_2 WI were recorded.The ADC values of lesions were calculated,and then were correlated with the corresponding time interval between onset of neurological symptoms and MRI scanning.Results The lesions of JE mainly showed long T_1 and long T_2 signal intensity on MRI.The thalami were the most frequently involved areas,and 15 out of 16 showed thalamic involvement and 6 patients only showed thalamic abnormalities without other lesions.Seven patients within 10 days of onset showed lesions with high signal intensity on both DWI and T_2WI,but whole or partial lesions showed clearer on DWI than on T_2WI,and 2 patients showed extra lesions that were invisible on T_2WI.As for the other 9 patients after 10 days of onset,the lesions showed clearer on T_2WI than on DWI. Objective To investigate the effects of heparin coating on intimal hyperplasia in implanted decellularized xenografts.Methods The resected canie carotid arteries were decellularized,and heparin coating was partially performed.Eighteen rabbits were divided into non-heparin-coated group(n=9)and heparin-coated group(n=9).During implantation,only the left carotid between the anastomotic stoma was ligated.Doppler ultrasonography was performed 1,3 and 12 weeks post-implantation to measure the luminal diameter,and the hemodynamic parameters such as PSV,RI and PI were calculated.All animals were sacrificed,histological observations were conducted at 12 weeks post-implantation,and I/(I+ M)was calculated.Results Except for 1 week post-implantation in the ligated side,the luminal diameters in non-heparin -coated group were significantly smaller than that of pre-implantation.Besides,those of the non-ligated side at each time points were significantly smaller than the ligated side(P

In order to study the accumulation of Fritillaria thunbergii cultivar, peimine content in Xiaye, Kuanye, Duozi and Xiaosanzi bulbs of different sizes and parts was determined by HPLC-ELSE. The results indicated that the peimine content varied significantly with the cultivar type, the size and part of bulb. The distribution laws of peimine were as follow: Xiaosanzi > Duozi > Xiaye > Kuanye, small-size bulb > big-size bulb, core bud > scale. The peimine yield per plant in Duozi was the highest.

Objective This study was to explore the prevalence of overweight and obesity,and the effects of contextual and individual level determinants on them in the rural areas of Kunming city.China.Methods Shilin County was selected as the study site.Probability Proportional to Size(PPS)sampling method was used to select representative sample of 6006 residents aged 45 years and over from Shilin.Information was obtained from a cross-sectional survey on health.Data was analyzed using a muhilevel logistic modeling.Results The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were 12.10% and 2.15% in the study area.Males had a higher prevalence of overweight than females(13.60% vs.10.71%).Similar situation was seen in the prevalence of obesity(2.82% vs.1.52%).Both village level and individual level variables were associated with obesity.whereas only individual level variables were related to overweight.Elderly had lower probability of being overweight and obese than younger people with odds ratio(OR)as 0.95(95% CI:0.83-0.97)and 0.93(95% CI:0.82-0.96),respectively.Males had higher probability of being overweight and obese than females:OR of 0.89(95% CI:0.78-0.98)and OR of 0.87(95% CI:0.78-0.97),respectively.Individuals with lower family income had increased probability of having obesity (OR=0.81,95% CI:0.73-0.95).Factor as living in a higher income village was associated with lower prevalence of obesity(OR=0.92,95% CI:0.85-0.98).Conclusion Interventions at village level on obesity in parallel with those at individual level were needed.Prevention and intervention on obesity should be emphasized in villages with higher income.

ObjectiveTo investigate the diagnostic value of transgastic peritoneoscopy for ascites of unknown aetiology.MethodsTransgastric peritoneoscopy was performed on 7 patients with ascites of unknown aetiology.Diagnosis and complications were both recorded.ResultsDiagnosis of all the 7 patients were confirmed after transgastric peritoneoscopy,among whom 6 ( 85.7％ ) were found to have tuberculosis peritonitis,and 1 ( 14.3％ ) with liver disease.All patients recovered after the operation.No intraoperative or postoperative complications occurred.ConclusionTransgastric peritoneoscopy is a valuable diagnostic method for ascites of unknown aetiology.

Objective To compare the diagnostic value of magnifying chromoendoscopy with probebased confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) for differentiation of neoplastic from non-neoplastic colorectal polyps. Methods A total of 16 consecutive patients, who were diagnosed as having polyps with endoscopy between December 2009 and January 2010 at Nanfang Hospital, were included in this study. The pit pattern of the polyp was first determined with magnifying chromoendoscopy in all patients. Then, confocal images of the polyps were recorded and subsequently analyzed offline. Using pathological diagnosis as golden standard,the sensitivity and specificity of the two methods were compared. Results A total of 26 polyps from 16 patients were found. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of magnifying chromoendoscopy was 94. 1%, 77.8%, 88. 8%, 87. 5% and 88.4%, respectively,while those of pCLE were 100. 0%, 88. 8%, 94. 4% ,100. 0% and 96. 1%, respectively. There was no significant difference between pCLE and magnifying chromoendoscopy. Conclusion In differentiation between neoplastic and non-neoplastic colorectal lesions, pCLE shows higher sensitivity and specificity than does magnifying chromoendoscopy, although without significant difference. pCLE can be used as a new real time method to determine the property of colorectal polyps.
