Objective To explore the role and clinical significance of interleukin-6(IL-6) in children with bronchial asthma. Methods Sera were collected from 29 cases with asthmatic attacks,32 asthmatic children who in stable conditions, and 20 health children.Serum IL-6 concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay(RIA).Results 1.Asthmatic children appeared significantly higher levels of serum IL-6 during asthmatic attacks as compared to those in stable conditions and healthy ones respectively(P3 years old had significantly higher serum IL6 concentrations than ≤3 years old children in remission. Conclusion IL-6 may participate pathogenesis of asthma, and it may play different biological roles during asthmatic attacksas or stable conditions.

Objective To identify the different causes of atrial fibrillation (AF) in Chinese by coronary artery angiography, and to compare the episode of stroke in different patients.Method A total of 782 adult patients diagnosed with AF were identified from Anzhen Hospital over a 8-year period. There were 273 patients with rheumatic valvular AF and 509 patients with nonvalvular AF.The results of electrocardiogram, echocardiography and coronary artery angiography were retrospectiwely analyzed to find out the proportion of causes and to compare the episode of stroke in patients with rheumatic valvular AF with those having nonvalvular AF.Results The patients with rheumatic valvular atrial were significantly younger than of coronary heart disease (52.40?5.03 years old vs 64.30?3.25 years old,P

Objective To investigate the disease control status of patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease (DMCKD) so as to provide evidence for patients' management. Methods All medical records during May 2007 to May 2009 were reviewed and 345 outpatients were retrospectively investigated from Department of Nephrology.Body mass index (BMI),blood pressure (BP),HbA1c,fasting plasma glucose (FPG),serum lipids, renal function were evaluated, etc. Results Among them,65.8% patients were overweight or obesity. The standard control rate of FPG,HbAlc,BP,triglyceride (TG),24 hour urine protein loss was 28.7%,43.2%,21.7%,33.7% and 54.3%,respectively.Their BMI level was positively correlated with FPG,BP and TG( r =0.287,0.137,0.328,respectively,P < 0.05 ),while FPG was positively correlated with HbA1c and TG(r =0.434,0.192,respectively,P <0.01 ).DM duration was positively correlated with FPGand HbA1c (r =0.171,0.117 respectively,P < 0.05 ).Conclusions The disease control status of DMCKD patients was poor and disease indicators are influencing with each other. So healthcare provider should enhance effective health education and management to promote patients' self - management and to retard diseases progression.

BACKGROUND: Three-dimensional magnetic field positioning and three-dimensional electric field positioning are two main technologies used in heart ablation, but their required equipments are very expensive. OBJECTIVE: To develop a new method of ablation catheter positioning by combining ultrasonic probe with ablation catheter. METHODS: Three-dimensional data of human heart were obtained from the anatomical data set of the body, and then a three-dimensional vector model of the endocardial surface was established. The basic parameters and scanning strategy of ultrasonic probe were designed and calculated, to compile a corresponding simulation software. Based on the three-dimensional endocardial vector model, the detection data of the ultrasonic probe were obtained by simulation calculation and processed. Then, the target surface characteristics were reconstructed, matching with the surface features of the proposed vector model. The position of the probe was finally determined. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The three-dimensional model of the endocardium was established based on the anatomical data set, and the ultrasonic surface detection data were obtained by the simulated ultrasonic irradiation. The reconstructed surface model with high accuracy exhibited a desired match with the target area in the three-dimensional model of endocardium. The error of the probe position and its theoretical position fulfilled the requirement of positioning accuracy. In conclusion, the use of ultrasonic imaging technology can accurately position the catheter probe in the heart during heart ablation, providing an accurate and reliable navigation for the implementation of heart ablation.

Objective To study midterm curative effect of domestic drug eluting coronary stent in treatment of left main (LM) lesion.Method From April 2004 to September 2005,totally 32 patients with LM lesion received percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) without protection.Thirty-nine coronary stents (Firebird, Microport,Shanghai) were implanted. One stent was used when the lesion only involved the opening or the middle portion of the LM branch. If the bifurcation was involved, the stenosis was treated considering the following factors: the diameter of left main, left anterior descending (LAD) and the left circumflex branch (LCX);whether there was stenosis of the opening of circumflex branch. Methods included"T"stent, stent pass though the opening of circumflex branch and kissing stents. All patients were followed at 1,6 and 12 months after discharge.Coronary angiography of patients was performd at 5 months after discharge.Central necrosis, restenosis, target vessel reconstructive rate (TVR) and target lesion reconstructive rate (TLR) were analyzed. Results Most LM lesion involved bifurcation (53.1%).Treatment for bifurcation included"T"stent in 47% patients, stent passing through the opening of LCX in 35.3 %.No restenosis occurred in lesion involving the opening or middle portion of the LM during follow-up.The 62.3% patients received coronary angiography.Angiography showed 5% of restenosis rate,5% TLR,10% TVR and 6.3% central necrosis rate. Conclusions Drug eluting stent implantation in low risk unprotective left main lesion may achieve satisfactory clinical results.

To analyze the genetic characteristics of echovirus 6 (E6) isolated from meningitis and encephalitis cases in Shandong Province, China, we collected cerebrospinal fluid samples from meningitis and encephalitis cases in Shandong Province from 2007 to 2012 for virus isolation. Viral RNAs were extracted from positive isolates, and complete VP1 coding regions were amplified by RT-PCR and sequenced. Homology comparison and phylogenetic analysis were performed. Six isolates were identified as E6 by microneutralization assay and molecular typing. The homology analysis showed that the six isolates had 78. 6%-99. 8% nucleotide and 95. 5%-100. 0% amino acid identities with each other, as well as 76. 9%-78. 4% nucleotide and 92. 3%-95. 1% amino acid identities with the prototype strain (D' Amori). The phylogenetic analysis based on the integrated VP1 sequences indicated that all Shandong E6 isolates could be separated into four clusters, designated as A, B, C, and D. The six E6 isolates belonged to clusters A, B, and D. Our study reveals high genetic differences between Shandong E6 isolates and suggests different transmission lineages of E6 co-circulated in Shandong Province.

Acta Academiae Medicinae Sinicae 2003;25(3):354-356
OBJECTIVETo clarify the frequency and presentation associated factors, pathogenetic mechanism, treatment and outcome of hyponatremia after surgery of pituitary adenoma.
METHODSRetrospectively reviewed the data of 186 patients who underwent pituitary surgery between January 1999 and June 2000 in the department.
RESULTS72 (38.7%, 72/186) patients had suffered post-operative hyponatremia. Among them, 43 (59.7%, 43/72) cases the hyponatremia appeared at 4 to 7 days postoperatively. 43 (59.7%, 43/72) cases presented with nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, confusion and weakness. The symptoms of hyponatremia was related to the age, tumor size and adenoma cell type, but not to the sex, surgical approach and degree of removal. Treatment consisted of salt replacement and mild fluid restriction in 4 patients and salt and fluid replacement in 68 patients. Hyponatremia had been resolved within 7 days in 63 patients.
CONCLUSIONSHyponatremia often appeared about 7 days after surgery of pituitary adenoma, especially in elderly and in patients with macroadenomas. The principle of treatment was salt and fluid replacement.
