OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical efficacy of cannulated screw fixation with percutaneous Poking reduction for the treatment of Sanders II, III calcaneal fracture.
METHODSFrom January 2012 to January 2014, 19 patients with Sanders II, III calcaneal fracture were treated with cannulated screw fixation with percutaneous Poking reduction. There were 14 males and 5 females, ranging in age from 19 to 58 years old, with an average age of (38.3 +/- 4.1) years old. The changes of Bohler angle and Gissane angle were measured and compared preoperatively and postoperatively to observe the recovery of the articular surface. The Maryland Foot Score was used to evaluate operation outcomes.
RESULTSAll the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 12 to 28 months with a mean of (22.3 +/- 5.3) months. The Bohler angle and Gissane angle were improved significantly after operation compared with those before operation (P < 0.05). The Maryland score was 83.2 +/- 8.4.
CONCLUSIONTreatment of calcaneal fractures with screw fixation with percutaneous Poking reduction has several advantages such as satisfactory outcome, less damage, fewer complications, quicker recovery, and shorter hospital stay, and it is one of the effective treatments for Sanders II and III calcaneal fractures.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(8):690-696
Background Many studies and clinical trials of pharmacologic vitreolysis are already under way to try to improve vitreo-retinal surgery and to liquefy and detach the vitreous from the retina ultimately, including chondroitinase, hyaluronidase, dispase and plasmin. However, there has not been any report on purification of human plasminogen from cord blood plasma and inducing posterior vitreous detachment of the animal eye at present. Objective This study was designed to isolate and purify the production of human plasminogen (Plg) from cord blood plasma with ethanol precipitation and evaluate the efficacy of Plg in inducing posterior vitreous detachment (PVD).Methods Human Plg was Separated and purified from cord blood plasma by ethanol precipitation method. The protein band corresponding to Plg with molecular mass of 92 000 was revealed in SDS-PAGE and confirmed by MALDI-TOF and Mascot database. Anion-exchange chromatography and plasminogen activity assay kit were used to obtain purified Plg with biological activity. Twenty-five fresh pig eyes were enucleated and assigned to 5 groups and 5 eyes for each group. The normal eyes were used as control group. Balanced salt solution(BSS)of 0.1 ml was intravitreally group and standard substance group. All of the eyes were then incubatedfor 60 minutes under the 37 ℃. Retinal histopathology and ultrastructure were examined under the light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy ( SEM ) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Results The Plg with potential fibrinolytic activity was successfully extracted and purified from cord blood plasma by ethanol precipitation method. No posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) was seen in normal control group, BSS group and r-SK group following the intravitreal injection under the sem. However,PVD was demonstrated in r-SK+ Plg group and standard substance group under the SEM. The inner limiting membrane ( ILM ) and the retina were well preserved in all of the experimental eyes. No retinal morphology and ultrastructural abnormality were found under the light and SEM and TEM. Conclusion Ethanol precipitation is a feasible way to isolate and purify Plg from human cord blood plasma. Extracted Plg shows potential fibrinolytic intravitreal injection of Plg.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Zheng's Jin Gou Diao Yu (gold-hook-fishing) acupuncture method versus ordinary acupuncture on superficial fascia for treating neck type cervical spondylopathy in Kyrgyz. Methods:A total of 64 Kyrgyz patients conforming to the diagnostic criteria of neck type cervical spondylopathy were included. The patients were randomized into a Zheng's Jin Gou Diao Yu (gold-hook-fishing) acupuncture group and a conventional acupuncture group, with 32 cases in each group. Patients in the Zheng's Jin Gou Diao Yu (gold-hook-fishing) acupuncture group were treated with Zheng's Jin Gou Diao Yu (gold-hook-fishing) acupuncture method to stimulate the superficial fascia, the stimulation sites were primarily located at bilateral sides of the cervical vertebra as well as the trigger points in shoulder-neck region; patients in the conventional acupuncture group were punctured at the same acupoints, with twirling reducing method, and the depth of insertion was determined by the treated region. Patients in both groups received treatment every day for a succession of 5 d as a course, with a 2-day interval between 2 courses, and the whole treatment lasted for 3 courses. After 3 courses of treatment, the McGill pain questionnaire (MPQ) and neck disability index (NDI) were measured to compare the clinical effect between the two groups. Results: After treatment, scores of MPQ and NDI scale dropped when compared with those before treatment, and the differences showed statistical significance (allP<0.05); scores of MPQ and NDI in the Jin Gou Diao Yu (gold-hook-fishing) acupuncture group were substantially lower than those in the conventional acupuncture group, and the differences showed statistical significance (allP<0.05). The total effective rate was 96.9% in the Jin Gou Diao Yu (gold-hook-fishing) acupuncture group and the cured rate was 78.1%, which were higher than 81.3% and 40.6% in the conventional acupuncture group, and the differences showed statistical significance (bothP<0.05). Conclusion: Zheng's Jin Gou Diao Yu (gold-hook-fishing) acupuncture method by stimulating superficial fascia to treat cervical spondylopathy in Kyrgyz can produce a better clinical effect than conventional acupuncture treatment, and is effective in improving pain and stiffness in patients, and thus is worth clinical popularization.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the role of endoplasmic reticulum stress in the apoptosis of testicular germ cells in hyperlipidemic rats.
METHODSWe randomly assigned 42 four-week-old male Wistar rats into a normal control group (n = 12) and a high-fat group (n = 30) to be fed on a normal diet and a high-fat diet, respectively, for 10 weeks. Then we measured the concentrations of triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) in the serum using an automatic biochemistry analyzer, detected the apoptosis of testicular germ cells by TUNEL staining, and determined the protein and mRNA expressions of GRP78 and. caspase-12 in the testis tissue by immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR, respectively.
RESULTSThe concentrations of TG and TC were significantly increased in the animals of the high-fat group ([3.00 ± 0.92] and [3.04 ± 0.39] mmol/L) as compared with the control rats ([1.43 ± 0.41] and [1.55 ± 0.23] mmol/L) (P < 0.01), and so was the apoptosis index of the testicular germ cells ([37.17 ± 2.74]% vs [5.16 ± 0.81]%, P < 0.01). The high-fat group, in comparison with the control, also showed remarkably upregulated protein and mRNA expressions of GRP78 (0.32 ± 0.03 and 0.86 ± 0.05 vs 0.19 ± 0.01 and 0.37 ± 0.03, P < 0.01) and caspase-12 (0.34 ± 0.02 and 0.87 ± 0.01 vs 0.12 ± 0.01 and 0.34 ± 0.03, P < 0.01) in the testis tissue.
CONCLUSIONThe apoptosis of testicular germ cells is increased in hyperlipidemic rats, which may be attributed to endoplasmic reticulum stress.
