Objective Laterally spreading tumor (LST) has a close relationship with colorectal cancer, its diagnosis and treatment are differed from those of ordinary protuded tumors. The aim of this study is to attract much attention to this particular tumor. Methods Four thousand two hundred and ten patients were examined with magnifying endoscope and mucosa staining from December, first 2000 to May 31 , 2002. Results In 34 patients with LST, there were 35 lesions, including granular type 15, nodular - mixed type 18, and pseudocaved 2; and there were 4 patients with intramucosa carcinoma and other 2 with serrated adenoma. The biggest lesion is 68 mm ? 85 mm, and the smallest 11 mm? 12 mm. Of the 35 lesions the diameters are 8 within 11 -20 mm, 13, 21 -30 mm and 14 above 31mm. The pit patterns of the 35 lesions are mainly IV pit patterns, about 62. 9% (22/35). The pathological diagnoses of 3 patients with VA pit patterns LST are intramucosa carcinoma, and 8 patients with Ⅲ L pit patterns are tubulovillous adenoma. All of the 35 lesions are resected by EMR or EPMR. Complication occurred in two patients during treatment of EMR such as hemorrhage and local peritonitis. Conclusion Mucosa staining and magnifying endoscopy is very useful in detecting LST. We must pay more attention to those signs, such as reddish and eneven mucosa or unclear or interrupted vascular network. Furthermore it is necessary to stain the mucosa with indigo carmine spray to get the evidences of flat tumor. Pit patterns of LST mostly are IV or ⅢL, and LST with Ⅳ pit patterns are mainly villous adenoma, ⅢL tubular adenoma, while LST with the Ⅴ pit pattern signifies the cancerated metaplasia.

Objective: To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in small cell carcinoma of cervis(SCCC) and its relationship with the clinical and pathological features,so as to predict the metastasis of SCCC,to evaluate the prognosis and to manage a proper treatment. Methods: EnVision two step immunohistochemical method was used to observe the expession of VEGF in the samples of small cell carcinoma of cervis. Results: Four samples were obtained from surgical specimens of the patients with SCCC in our hospital. In all the samples, the expression of VEGF was positive. Conclusion: VEGF is closely related with the oncogenesis and development of SCCC.In the earlier period of SCCC,the lymph node involvement and vascular invasion are common. The aggressive progression of SCCC must have something to do with the highly expression of VEGF.The expression of VEGF can be used as an index in selecting treatment and predicting prognosis of SCCC.

12 isolates of thermoacidophilies were obtained from samples of hot springs of Southern China's Guangdong and Yunna provinces. All isolates are heterotrophic. Cells are rods, Gram positive or variable. The optimal pH and temperature for growth are 3.5-5.5 and 43℃-52℃, respectively. Based on their morphological physiological properties and their 16S rDNA sequences, they were identified as members of Alicyclobacillus.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
A bacterial strain Eml isolated from contaminated soil of Shengli oil field was identified as Rhodococcus ruber according to its phenotype, physiological and chemical properties, and its 16S rRNA gene sequence. This strain could degrade various polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as well as alkanes in petroleum, and produce bioemulsifier. The results indicated that strain Eml could produce bioemulsifier efficiently when n-hexadecane was used as sole carbon source. The optimal conditions for the synthesis of bioemulsifier were as followed: 10g/L of n-hexadecane, 1g/L of yeast extract, media initial pH 7, and cultivation was carried out at 30℃ on a rotary shaker at 200 rpm. Under these conditions the surface tension of culture decreased to the lowest value, around 30 mN/m, after 1 day, and the emulsifying capacity was 100% . The concentration of bioemulsifier reached to the highest value, around 68 times of CMC , after 5 days' cultivation. The results also showed that the bioemulsifier produced by this strain should be lipid.

BACKGROUND: +Gz-induced acute dysencephalia and its protection is one of the significant topics in Aero-medical researches. Its pathological mechanism, however, is still unclear and protective measures should be developed further. OBJECTIVE: To observe the expression of inducible nitricoxide synthase (iNOS) in brain tissue after +Gz exposure and to analyze the protective effects of danshen and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on repeated +Gz exposure-induced brain injury. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal study. SETTING: Researching Center of Molecular Biology, Air-force General Hospital of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out at the Researching Center of Molecular Biology, Air-force General Hospital of Chinese PLA from April to August 2000. A total of 20 healthy SD rats of clean grade were divided into 5 groups according to randomly digital table, including control group, +Gz exposure group, bFGF group, danshen group and saline group with 4 in each group.METHODS: All rats were fixed on rotatory arm of centrifugal apparatus, and their heads were towards core of the apparatus. Except the rats in control group, the value of +Gz exposure was +14 Gz, and the growth rate was 1.5 G/s. The exposure at peak value lasted for 45 s. +Gz exposure was done for three times, and the interval was 30 minutes. Rats in the control group were also treated with the same +Gz exposing procedure, but the G value was +1 Gz. Rats in bFGF group and danshen group were intraperitoneally injected with 100 μg/kg of bFGF and/or 15 g/kg of danshen solution, respectively, at 30 minutes before centrifugation and immediateness after centrifugation; moreover, rats in saline group were injected with the same volume of saline. Six hours after exposure, rats were cut off their heads to obtain the brains which were maintained in liquid nitrogen for RNA extraction. The expression of iNOS mRNA in brain tissues of the rats in each group was detected with semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and calculated on the basis of ratio between iNOS and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrognase.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Expressed level of iNOS mRNA in brain tissue of rats.RESULTS: Expression of iNOS mRNA in brain tissue was higher in repeated +Gz exposure group than that in control group (0.452 ±0.014,0.065±0.008, P < 0.01); however, that was lower in bFGF group and dan-shen group than that in +Gz exposure group (0.196±0.010, 0.183±0.011,0.452±0.014, P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Repeated +Gz exposure can increase the expression of iNOS mRNA, this plays an important role in cerebral injury induced by repeated +Gz exposure. Moreover, bFGF and danshen have protective effects on cerebral injury induced by +Gz exposure.
