Objective To test the reliability and validity of the self-assessed questionnaire of the elderly health care needs.Methods Based on the Zuluaga-Raysmith model, the initial questionnaire was formulated by literature reviewing and interviews.Through Delphi experts consultation, a questionnaire containing 12 factors, 61 items was constructed.A total of 750 elderly residents were investigated to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Results The effective rate of questionnaires was 88.67％ (665/750).The total Cronbach α was 0.871.The test-retest reliability of all the items were all greater than 0.75.The item-level content validity index were all greater than 0.80.The scale-level content validity index was 0.95.14 factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, explaining 66.653％ of the total variance.Conclusions The elderly health care needs self-assessed questionnaire is comprehensive with good stability, which can be used in a multi-center, large sample research.The research may help to get a deep understanding of health care needs of the elderly as well as influencing factors.

Objective The purpose of this investigation was to investigate the neuroprotective effects of rhubarb for ICH,as well as its mechanism.Methods ICH was produced in adult Spargue-Dawley rats by injection of collagenase IV(0.05U/0.5uL).Intraperitoneal injection of rhubarb (70mg/kg) or saline,was started at 3,6 or 12 hours post-ICH respectivdy.Casepase-3 activity.TUNEL and neurological behavior function were performed 24hours after ICH.Results Rhubarb siven at 3 or 6 hours can inhibit casepase-3 activity(P<0.001),reduce TUNEL positive cells(P<0.05) and attenuate apomorphine-induced rotation(P<0.05) at 24 hours after ICH.However,the animals which were treated 12 hours showed no improvement.Conclusion Rhubarb may be a potential drug for ICH patients for its possible effect of inhibiting apoptosis.

Objective To present and summarize the data concerning the treatment and prognosis of acute limb arterial embolism in West China Hospital.Methods Forty three patients with 52 limbs of acute arterial embolism were treated in West China Hospital from January 2003 to March 2006.There were 15 males and 28 females,aging from 26 years to 77 years 〔(58.88?13.90) years〕.The diagnosis was based on clinical manifestations and results of color Doppler sonography or DSA.The follow-up ranged from 1 month to 39 months.The following factors,which might influence the prognosis,were analysed through multiple linear regression of SPSS 10.0:age,sex,uper limb or lower limb,location of embolus,ischemic time,clinical categories of acute limb ischemia,history of smoking,atherosclerosis and other combined diseases,pervious history of acute limb arterial embolism,operative or nonoperative treatment,and postoperative complications.Results Clinical categories of acute limb ischemia include:Ⅰ(n=0),Ⅱa(n=16),Ⅱb(n=29),Ⅲ(n=7).The ischemic time varied from 3 h to 2 weeks.The sources of embolus:heart(n=39),vessle(n=7),iatrogenic origin(n=1),unidentidied origin(n=5).The therapies included embolectomy(n=38),catheter-directed thrombolysis(n=2) and medical treatment(n=12).The following postoperative complications occured:compartment syndrome(n=12),respiratory failure(n=3),alkalolsis(n=3),acute renal failure(n=2),wound infection(n=2) and pulmonary infection(n=1).Two patients died of cerebral infarction in hospital and one patient died of heart failure 3 months after discharge.Thirty-eight patients with 45 diseased limbs were followed up.The results were excellent in 13 limbs,good in 15 ones,fair in 8 ones and poor in 9 ones.The statistically significant influencing factors of prognosis include ischemic time,clinical categories of acute limb ischemia and history of smoking(P

The valuators affect the results of performance evaluation directly.By construing the objective requirements of performance evaluation,the motivation of stakeholders,and the diversity of evaluating objects,we then set forth the necessity of valuator's multipluralism in the performance evaluation of comprehensive prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS.We also put forward another pertinent advice that multiplural valuators should take part in general HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment evaluation,thus providing a reference for guaranteeing the results of performance evaluation,and the advancement and improvement in the performance of HIV/AIDS comprehensive prevention and treatment.

Objective To study the influence and dose effect of ultrasound on the contraction of uterine smooth muscle in rats.Methods Estradiol benzoate was injected into rats three days before conducting an in-vitro experiment.Their uteri were resected and irradiated with ultrasound(0.8 MHz,3 W/cm~2,0-40 rain).The contrac- tion frequency and amplitude were recorded using an MS-302 biological experiment system.Results It could be seen that the contraction frequency and amplitude,and general contractile activity were significantly increased during ultrasonic irradiation(P＜0.01).The increased contraction frequency and amplitude lasted for ten minutes,and then the normal contraction pattern resumed.The contraction frequency as well as the percentage change in eontraction fre- quency were highest during the first 15 minutes of ultrasonic irradiation;the contraction amplitude as well as the per- centage change in amplitude were highest during 40 minutes of ultrasonic irradiation.Contraction activity was at its highest for 30 minutes,but the percentage change in activity was highest for 20 minutes.Conclusions Ultrasound can induce uterine smooth muscle contraction in rats.This biological effect is related to the irradiation time.

Purple bacteria are extensively used in bacterial photosynthesis research. This review describes the structure of light-harvesting I, light-harvesting II and reaction center of photosynthetic apparatus of pur- ple bacteria and discusses the regulation mechanisms of photosynthesis (PS) gene transcription, with an emphasis laid on the transcriptional regulation of PS gene by PpsR/AppA system.

Objective To investigate the expression of hypoxia inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) and glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) in lung adenocarcinoma and its correlation with tumor metastasis. Methods SP immunohistochemistry was used to detect GLUT1 and HIF-1α protein expression in 125 lung adenocarcinoma, including 41 cases without metastasis, 38 cases with lymphatic metastasis and 46 cases with brain metastasis. The correlation of GLUT1 and HIF-1α in lung adenocarcinoma metastasis was analyzed by using x 2 test and Pearson correlation analysis. Results Most lung adenocarcinoma were histologically heterogeneous, which contained more than one adenocarcinoma type. 73.2 % (30/41) cases were acinar predominant adenocarcinoma in lung adenocarcinoma without metastasis; 53.6 % (15/38) cases were acinar predominant adenocarcinoma and 26.3 % (10/38) cases were solid predominant adenocarcinoma in lung adenocarcinoma with lymphatic metastasis; 47.8 % (22/46) cases were papillary predominant adenocarcinoma and 34.8 % (16/46) cases were solid predominant adenocarcinoma in lung adenocarcinoma with brain metastases. The expression level of GLUT1 and HIF-1α in lung adenocarcinoma with lymphatic metastasis group was higher than that of the group without tumor metastasis (P< 0.05); the expression of GLUT1 and HIF-1α were positively correlated (r=0.407, P=0.000). Conclusions Papillary adenocarcinoma is the most histological type in lung adenocarcinoma with brain metastasis, suggesting that papillary adenocarcinoma is more prone to brain metastasis. The expression of GLUT1 and HIF-1α play an important role in lymph node metastasis and brain metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma.

Objective To assess the role of the ferroptosis-associated gene GLS2 in the prognosis of pan-cancer and immunity using bioinformatics methods. Methods GLS2 expression levels in pan-cancer were profiled using publicly available databases: The Cancer Genome Atlas, GTEx, Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia and the International Cancer Genome Consortium. The aim was to explore the role of GLS2 gene expression, gene variation survival analysis, immune infiltration, immune checkpoint related genes, TMB, and MSI in different tumors. Results Difference in GLS2 expression levels between cancer and paraneoplastic tissues was statistically significant in most cancer types, and the expression level was correlated with survival in these cancer types. A positive correlation was found between GLS2 expression and immune cell infiltration in multiple cancer types, and GLS2 expression level was positively correlated with TMB, MSI, and methylation, and its expression is an indicator for potential therapeutic response. Conclusion Pan-cancer analysis shows that the ferroptosis-related gene GLS2 can be used as a diagnostic and prognostic marker of clear cell carcinoma of kidney, adrenocortical carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer.

OBJECTIVETo study the correlation between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression in peripheral lung cancer.

METHODSThe expression of PCNA was detected by means of SABC immunohistochemistry in 45 cases of surgically and pathologically confirmed peripheral lung cancer. The correlation between PCNA expression in the tumors and the MRI findings was analyzed.

RESULTSPCNA expression was correlated to the differentiation, tumor size, lobulation, and mediastinal lymph node metastasis of the tumors (P<0.05), but not to the histological type, clinical stage, pleural retraction, spiculation, or signal feature.

CONCLUSIONCorrelations are found between MRI findings of lung cancer and abnormal expression of PCNA.

Genetic engineering on macrolide antibiotics was a new field in recent years and more than 100 novel polyketides had been produced until then. Using genomic DNA of S. erythraea A226 as a template, about 3.2 kb DNA fragment without KR6 domain was amplified by overlapping PCR technique and cloned into pWHM3 carrier, which resulted in the construction of homologous recombinant plasmid pWHM2201. Plasmid pWHM2201 was introduced into protoplasts of S. erythraea A226 by PEG-mediated transformation and integrated into the gene locus for erythromycin biosynthesis. After integrants grew for two generations on R3M media without Tsr, they were protoplasted and grown on R3M plates. By PCR identification, 8 mutants without KR6 domain were selected out and named S. erythraea M(1-8). With the identification of mass spectrometry, it was proved that S. erythraea M1 synthesized a novel ketolide compound 3-deoxy-3-oxo-erythronolide B.
