1.Clinical research on application of adjustable sutures in glaucoma filtering operation
International Eye Science 2014;(10):1868-1870
AIM:To discuss the application effect of adjustable sutures in glaucoma filtering operation after trabecular resection.
METHODS: Seventy-eight cases ( 101 eyes ) suffered from glaucoma were randomly divided into two groups, observation group and control group. Thirty-nine cases ( 51 eyes ) in the observation group underwent trabeculectomy with adjustable sutures, the control group (39 cases, 50 eyes) only adopted trabeculectomy.RESULTS: Compared Preoperative IOP in two groups, the difference was not statistically significant (P>0. 05). After 6mo, IOP were decreased compared with preoperative in two groups, and that in observation group was lower than control group, the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0. 05 ). Six months after operation, there were 1 eye with shallow anterior chamber Ⅰ and 2 eyes with non- functional bleb in observation group, and the complication rate was 5. 9%. While there were of 6 eyes with shallow anterior chamber, in which 4 eyes at gradeⅠ, each one at gradeII and Ⅲ. Non-functional blebs in 5 eyes and a scleral flap adhesion complications rate in the control group was 24. 0%, significantly higher than that in the observation group, the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.01).
CONCLUSION: The adjustable sutures combined with trabeculectomy for glaucoma can significantly reduce the postoperative complications. The curative effect is exact and clinically applicable.
2.Analysis of Sponge-associated Culturable and Natural Microbial Community Structure Based on DGGE Fingerprinting
Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
The microbial community structure of 4 kinds of sponges in South China Sea were revealed using culture-independent PCR- DGGE gene fingerprint technique as well as the mixed culturable microorganism. The relationship between the culturable and un-culturable microorganism was studied based on the different fingerprint profile. It was found that there is host specificity for microorganism in different sponges from the same marine area. Culture condition such as medium is an important factor for sponge-associated microbial cultivation and the culturable microorganism amount to only a little part of the total sponge-associated microorganisms.

Objective To investigate the clinical application of suspended red blood cells in Liuzhou,in order to make the transfusion of blood components more reasonable and safer. Methods Retrospective data were collected from 226 patients, who had received the transfusion of 980 units of suspended red blood cells between 2000 and 2006.Results Suspended red blood cells could be used widely to different kinds of patients, and most patients benefit from the treatment. The transfusion of leuko-reduced RBC was even more effective. The age, gender, category of disease, disease severity, hemoglobin level and the amount of transfusion were the key points that affect the therapeutic effect of transfusion.Traumatic hemorrhage was another important factor.Unreasonable clinical transfusion still exists. Conclusion Transfusion of suspended red blood cells is an effective treatment. But when and how to transfuse depend on individual cases.

A 35-year-old woman patient, complained of intermittent pain in the left flank for a week.Abdominal ultrasound and computed tomography scan revealed a left renal mass.Nephrectomy was performed, and a final diagnosis of adult Wilms' tumor was made based on histopathology and immunohistology.Chemotherapy was conducted for 4 times with dactinomycin D,vincristine and doxorubicin after surgery. At the time of the last recheck, the patient was alive with no evidence of disease.Adult Wilms' tumor is the exceptional malignant renal tumor.Only 1%-2% of Wilms' tumor is diagnosed in adult patients.Because of unspecific tumor symptoms in adults, the diagnosis is frequently made by histology. The diagnosis of adult Wilms' tumor is difficult to make preoperatively because diagnostic imaging only confirms the presence of a renal mass.Stage and histology are the clinical factors guiding the selection of postsurgical treatment and prognosis.Having retrospected 6 cases of adult Wilms' tumor between 1950 and 2007 and reviewed related reports,we conclude that the proper strategies of adjuvant treatment as applied to childhood Wilms' tumor patients after surgery can conspicuously improve the outcome in adult patients.

Objective To summarize the experience and clinical characteristics in liver re- transplantation following adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation. Methods Due to biliary complication (2 cases),vascular complication (2 cases),chronic rejection (1 case) and hepatitis recur- rence (1 case),liver re-transplantation was performed on 6 patients through modified piggyback liver transplantation.Vascular anastomosis was performed between the hepatic arteries of donor livers and receptor abdominal aorta in 1 case, and the rest were subjected to end-to-end homonymic vascular anastomosis. Results No operative death occurred.Due to primary non-function,1 died after the ope- ration.During the follow-up period,1 had anastomotic stricture of hepatic artery after the operation and was cured by percutaneous venoplasty. The survival of the rest patients was 12,9,6,4 and 3 months respectively. Conclusion Peritoneal adhesion is the operative difficulty for liver re-transplantation following adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation.

Objective To evaluate effects of trichostain A (TSA) on cell proliferation, cell cycles, apoptosis and invasiveness of multiple myeloma cell line U266; as well as active changes of methylation regulating proteins including DNA methyl-transferase(DNMTs), methyl-binding domain (MBD) proteins: MBD2 and MeCP2 after treated with TSA. Methods U266 cells were treated with different concentrations of TSA for 12, 24, 48 and 60 h. The proliferation activity of U266 cells was detected by MTT and the IC50 of 24 h was calculated. After U266 cells were treated with IC50, cell cycles were check out by dying with PI. mRNA of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2), bc1-2, bcl-xl and methylation regulating proteins (DNMTs, MBD2 and MeCP2) were detected by real-time PCR. FCM and Western blotting were used to measure expressions of MMP-2 and MBD2. Results MTT results revealed TSA inhibited proliferation of U266 cells in a dose-and time-dependent manner and the IC50 of 24 h was 0.07 μmol/L FCM analysis showed that TSA could arrest the cell cycle in G0/G1 and the proliferation index (PI) in U266 cells [(49.90 0.39)%]were significantly different after exposed to TSA (0.7 μmnol/L for 24h compared with that in the control cells[(55.78 0.49)%](P <0.01). After treated by TSA, the 2-△△Ct of MMP-2, bcl-2 and bcl-xl were 0.71 0.06, 5.04 0.92 and 2.95 0.35, respectively. There were great changes on mRNA of DNMT, MBD2 and MeCP2. TSA could reverse the transcription of DNMT, MBD2 and MeCP2. Conclusion TSA can arrest the U266 cell cycle in GVG, to prevent its proliferation and promote apoptosis, which maybe greatly connect with the changes of the methylation regulating proteins.

Objective To evaluate total laparoscopic splenectomy combined with pericardial devascularization. Methods In this study,40 patients with portal hypertension and hypersplenism underwent total laparoscopic splenectomy combined with pericardial devascularization,in which 26 cases had a history of up-GI bleeding. Results Procedures were successful in 36 patients. There was four conversions to open surgery. The operations were completed in a mean time of (224 ± 54) min, with a mean estimated blood loss of (296 ± 209) ml and with no serious complication. Conclusion Total laparoscopic splenectomy combined with pericardial devascularization is a safe and effective available minimally invasive procedure in patients with portal hypertension and hypersplenism.
