1.On the relationships between pulse tracing and position, rate, shape and force attributes
China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy 2006;0(09):-
Four key attributes, position, rate, shape and force, are programs of pulse tracing put forward by ZHOU Xue-hai,a medical practitioner in late Qing dynasty. The essences of four key attributes are'images'of di erent levels. There are complex relationships between pulse tracing and position, rate, shape and force attributes, which include not only subordinate relationship and static-dynamic relationship between four attributes but double relationship between four attributes and pulse tracing.

Many studies show that transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) can suppress tumor by inhibiting proliferation and dedifferentiation of cells and promoting cell apoptosis at early stage. But during the progression of tumor, its tumor-promoting action will be more and more obvious with the variation of TGF-β itself and its signal path.TGF-β signal path inhibitors have anti-tumor activity, but the clinical effects and side effects still need to be observed.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of fluoroscopy-guided intestinal adhesion lysis, as a new non-surgical method, in treating incomplete adhesive small intestinal obstruction in order to improve the therapeutic results of adhesive intestinal obstruction. Methods A total of 93 patients with incomplete adhesive small intestinal obstruction were enrolled in this study. The patients were divided into study group (n=49) and control group (n=44). Fluoroscopy-guided intestinal adhesion lysis together with restoration of inter-intestinal loop enterocele was carried out for the patients of the study group , while traditional conservative surgical therapy was employed for the patients of the control group. The study group was comparable with the control group in patients’ age, gender, medical history, disease course, X-ray findings, etc. Results Of the 49 cases in the study group, complete cure was obtained in 40 with a cure rate of 81.6%. The mean hospitalization day was 0.3 day, and the average operation time was 3.25 hours. Among the 44 patients in the control group, complete cure was obtained in 37 with a cure rate of 84.1%. The mean hospitalization day was 7.6 days, and the average therapeutic time was 183.26 hours. Conclusion For the treatment of incomplete adhesive small intestinal obstruction , the therapeutic efficacy of fluoroscopy-guided intestinal adhesion lysis together with restoration of inter-intestinal loop enterocele is better than that of traditional conservative surgical therapy.

Objective To assess and compare the overall diagnostic value of positron emission tomography(PET)-CT and DWI in lymph node staging in patients with prostate cancer by using Meta-analysis.Methods Relevant English articles published on PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library and SCI database were searched.Subsequently, the characteristics of the included articles were appraised and extracted.Statistical analysis was performed employing Meta Disc version 1.4.Heterogeneity of the included articles was tested, which was used to select proper effect model to calculate the pooled sensitivity and specificity and the corresponding 95% CI,summary receiver operating characteristics(SROC) curve was performed and the area under the curve was calculated. The diagnostic performanceincluding the sensitivity, specificity, and the area under the curve was compared between the two groups via x2 test and Z test respectively. Results Eleven of 182 retrieved articles were included,in which 3 articles used two methods of imaging examination at the same time.In PET-CT group, there were eight articles using 11C-Choline as imaging agents, three with 18F-Fluorocholine.The pooled sensitivity and specificity and area under SROC curve for PET-CT were 0.64 (0.574.71),0.93 (0.90-0.96),and 0.8795 respectively. They were 0.59 (0.47-0.70),0.82 (0.70-0.91),and 0.7707 for DWI group. The specificity of PET-CT was significantly higher than that of DWI (x2=5.531,P<0.05).No significant differences were found in the sensitivity and AUC between the two groups (x2=0.528,Z=1.699,P>0.05).Conclusion For lymph node staging in patients with prostate cancer,PET-CT has an equal sensitivity and a higher specificity,a better diagnostic performance compared with DWI.

AIM: To measure the concentrations of angiotensinⅡ(ATⅡ) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in plasma of diabetics and investigate the relationship between ATⅡ and VEGF and the role of VEGF in occurrence and development of diabetic nephropathy(DN). METHODS: 98 type Ⅱ diabetics were divided into two groups: 43 were in diabetic nephropathy group and 55 in non-diabetic nephropathy (NDN) group, and 25 healty persons were in control group. We measured the levels of ATⅡ, VEGF, glycosylated hemoglobinC (GHbAlc) in plasma and urinary microalbumin(UmALB), respectively. RESULTS: The levels of ATⅡ, VEGF, HbAlc and UmALB in DN group and NDN group were increased significantly compared with control group( P

AIM: To investigate the effect of Se-containing spirulina phycocyanin (Se-SPC) on liver injury of mice induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4). METHODS: The mouse model was conducted by intragastric feeding with 2% CCl 4 oil for three times, meanwhile Se-SPC, spirulina phycocyanin (SPC) and Na 2SeO 3 were injected (ip) to various groups for 7 days. Then selenium (Se), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), malondiaoldehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) levels in blood and liver were measured. RESULTS: The level of Se, GPx and SOD activities were obviously higher ( P

Objective To evaluate the effect of operation on aged women with breast cancer. Methods The clinical data of the 166 patients recruited from 1989 to 2004 were retrospectively analyzed. Results One hundred and sixty six patients were all treated by operation. The modified radical mastectomy was performed in 98 cases(59.0%), radical masteetomy in 21 cases(12.7%), mastectomy in 29 cases (17.5%), palliative operation in 18 cases (10.8%). After operation, one hundred and twenty six patients received chemotherapy, twelve radiotherapy and 73 endocrine therapy. The rates of postoperative complications were 10.8%, no patients died during operation. The overall postoperative 3-and 5-year survival rates were 82.2% and 65.2% respectively. Conclusions The effect of surgical treatment and its combination with other adjunct therapies is satisfactory for aged women with breast cancer. Different types of operations should be performed for different patients. Ageing is not a contraindication of the operation. Surgery should be combined with medical therapy to reduce the concomitant diseases and postoperative complications.
