Data of key medical disciplines and talented personnel training in Jiangsu Province were analyzed,and a plan for their future development is proposed.

Objective In order to study the value of drug treatment for leukemia, quercetin was delivered to the cultured NB4 cell line. MethodsUsing RT- PCR and western blot, we studied the expression of mutant p53 gene and protein after inducing 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120h by the quercetin with different concentrations (30, 60, 90μmol/L). Results We verified the results that quercetin with concentration of 30 ～90μmol/L could successfully inhibit the expression of mutant p53 protein, but the mutant p53 gene did not have. ConclusionThat data suggested that quercetin would be an effective method for the therapy of leukemia.

Objective To observe the effect of coronary artery disease on QT dispersion (QTd). Methods The QTd and QTcd in 245 patients underwent percutaneous coronary angiography (CAG) were analyzed. It was evaluated The relations between the QTd and the degree of coronary stenosis and the number of disease vessels. Results The QTd and QTcd were significantly prolonged in patients with coronary artery stenosis than those in patients with normal coronary artery(P0.05). Conclusion There is no relation between the number of disease coronary artery and the QTd.

To evaluate the effect of Hexue mingmu tablets on traumatic hyphema caused by blunt ocular trauma.
●METHODS: Totally 150 patients of traumatic hyphema were divided into seven types by using ultrasound biomicroscopy combining with anterior segment abnormalities, each type was randomly classified as trial group and control group. The trial group was administered Hexue mingmu tablets, control group was treated by hemocoagulase.
●RESULTS: The absorbing time of trial group was shorter than that of the control group. And there was statistical significance between the two groups (P<0. 05).
● CONCLUSlON: Hexue mingmu tablets is an effective medicine to treat traumatic hyphema. Ultrasound biomicroscopy can be used as a routine examination method in traumatic hyphema.

Objective: To investigate the circadian ryhthm v ariation of 2-125I-iodomelatonin (125I-Mel) binding sites in the human peripheral leukocytes in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods: Melatonin binding sites in the human peripheral leukocytes were studied using 125　I-Mel as a radioligand (radioligand binding assays).A ll patients ［age: (70.18±11.70) years］ were diagnosed by CT according to the standard ［Chin J Nerv， 1996,29(6):379］. We also studied 15 age-match ed healthy old people as the control ［age: (68.33±7.76) years］. Resul ts: The circadian ryhthm variation of 125　I-Mel specific binding in control remained significant (P<0.01) with a higher value at midlight ［ (0.16±0.049) fmol/106］ than at middark ［(0.078±0.035) fmol/106］ with one point analysis. There was no significant variation in the patient grou p (P>0.05). The specific binding in the peripheral leukocytes at midlight in the patients with acute cerebral infarction were lower than that of the control . Conclusion: The expression of Mel receptor decreases in the pa tients wit h acute cerebral infarction and the circadian ryhthm variation of 2-125I -Mel appears abnormal.

The chemical investigation on Ganoderma philippii led to the isolation of sixteen compounds by silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. On the basis of spectroscopic data analyses, their structures were elucidated as 2, 5-dihydroxyacetophenone (1), methyl gentisate (2), (S) -dimethyl malate (3), muurola-4, 10 (14) -dien-11beta-ol (4), dihydroepicubenol (5), 5-hydroxymethylfuran carboxaldehyde (6), ergosta-7, 22E-dien-3beta-ol (7), ergosta-7, 22E-dien-3-one (8), ergosta-7, 22E-diene-2beta, 3alpha, 9alpha-triol (9), 6/beta-methoxyergo-sta-7, 22E-dien-3beta, 5alpha-diol (10), ergosta-4, 6, 8(14), 22E-tetraen-3-one (11), ergosta4, 6, 8-(14), 22E-etetraen-3beta-ol (12), 5alpha, 8alpha-epidioxy-ergosta-6, 22E-dien-3beta-ol (13), 7alpha-methoxy-5alpha, 6alpha-epoxyergosta-8-(14), 22E-dien-3beta-ol (14), ergosta-8, 22E-diene-3beta, 5alpha, 6beta, 7alpha-tetraol (15), and ergosta-5, 23-dien-3beta-ol, acetate (16). All the compounds were obtained from this fungus for the first time, and compounds 4 and 5 were isolated from the Ganoderma genus for the first time.

Objective To study the influence and dose effect of ultrasound on the contraction of uterine smooth muscle in rats.Methods Estradiol benzoate was injected into rats three days before conducting an in-vitro experiment.Their uteri were resected and irradiated with ultrasound(0.8 MHz,3 W/cm~2,0-40 rain).The contrac- tion frequency and amplitude were recorded using an MS-302 biological experiment system.Results It could be seen that the contraction frequency and amplitude,and general contractile activity were significantly increased during ultrasonic irradiation(P＜0.01).The increased contraction frequency and amplitude lasted for ten minutes,and then the normal contraction pattern resumed.The contraction frequency as well as the percentage change in eontraction fre- quency were highest during the first 15 minutes of ultrasonic irradiation;the contraction amplitude as well as the per- centage change in amplitude were highest during 40 minutes of ultrasonic irradiation.Contraction activity was at its highest for 30 minutes,but the percentage change in activity was highest for 20 minutes.Conclusions Ultrasound can induce uterine smooth muscle contraction in rats.This biological effect is related to the irradiation time.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a common degenerative disease of central nervous system. Brain mitochondrial dysfunction and structural damage are the important pathogeny of PD. At present, many of Chinese herbal compounds, herbal medicines, and TCM active ingredients are used to prevent and treat PD. The main mechanisms of these medicines are involved in the protection of mitochondrial structure, anti-oxidative stress, anti-calcium dysregulation, mitigation of excitotoxicity, and anti-apoptosis, etc., which also play a comprehensive role through multi-link, multi-level, and multi-target. Through looking up the recent representative literature, the experimental results of Chinese herbal compounds and TCM active ingredients preventing and treating PD through repairing brain mitochondrial structure and function were analyzed and inducted. Many of Chinese herbal compounds and TCM active ingredients were proved to have good effects on PD.

Objective To compare the effectiveness of comprehensive rehabilitation therapy with that of surgical intervention for patients with recurrent lumbar disc herniation (LDH).Methods A total of 124 LDH patients were recruited antd randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group,each of 62.The experimental group was given comprehensive rehabilitation consisting of medicine,physical therapy,and spinal stabilization exercises,while the control group received lumbar spine surgery.The patients' back and leg pain scores and their Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores were compared at admission and discharge,as well as 3 and 12 months after discharge.Anxiety and depression were also assessed at admission and 3 months after discharge.Results At discharge and 3 and 12 months later the average back and leg pain scores and ODI ratings were significantly lower than that at admisshin for both groups.There were no significant inter-group differences.In terms of anxiety and depression,however,these had decreased signifieantly in both groups,but the experimental group's average rating was significantly better at diseharge.Conclusions Comprehensive rehabilitation is superior to surgical intervention in relieving the depression of patients with recurrent LDH.Comprehensive rehabilitation should be considered as the first ehoiee for patients with rccurrent LDH,and only supplemented by surgical intervention if it is not effective.
