Objective To control the quality of the species in Dioscorea L. better. Methods An HPLC-ELSD method was developed for the first time to simultaneously determine four bioactive ingredients:dioscin gracillin, protoneodioscin, and protoneogracillin in 31 samples belonging to seven species of Dioscorea L. from different areas. The column was an Inertsil HILIC (250mmx4.6 mm,5pm). The separation was carried out with a gradient program. The mobile phase was acetonitrile-water at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. Results The standard curve was rectilinear in the range of 0.464-12.97 gg (r=0.9969) for dioscin, 0.310-7.09 ltg (r = 0.9953) for gracillin, 0.469-11.66 gg (r=0.9970) for protoneodioscin, and 0.276-6.87 gg (r=0.9992) for protoneogracillin. The recoveries of the markers were 98.1%, 100.1%, 97.2%, and 96.4%, respectively. The contents of the four components were quite different among the seven species of Dioscorea L. Conclusion The proposed HPLC-ELSD method is convenient, fast, accurate, and applicable for simultaneous analysis of multiple bioactive components of species in Dioscorea L.for quality control, which could facilitate discovering new natural resources of steroidal saponin.

Objective To investigate the effect of continuing nursing on elderly patients with high risk of pressure sores. Methods High-risk elderly patients with pressure sores healed in our hospital in January 2014 to December 2014 were divided into control group and observation group with 130 cases in each group by random number table. The control group received routine follow-up service, while the observation group were intervened by continuing nursing care. To observe the differences before and after the interventions in both groups on the patient's quality of life and the incidence of pressure sores. Results There was statistically significance on mental function scores (t=12.393, P=0.000), social function score (t=8.459, P=0.000) and overall quality of life score (t=12.750, P=0.000) between the two groups after the interventions. Meanwhile, there was no statistically significance on material life score (t =-1.913, P=0.057) and physical function score (t=-0.328, P=0.744). The difference of the re-occurrence of pressure sores in the two groups was statistically significant (χ2=35.96, P=0.000), either. Conclusions Continuing nursing intervention can obviously reduce the risk the re-occurrence of pressure sores on high-risk elderly patients, in particular to improve the quality of life aspects of mental function and social function in patients, meanwhile with no obvious improvement in that of material life and body functions.

International Eye Science 2015;(4):605-607
AIM:To establish the murine model of oxygen induced retinopathy ( OIR) and to evaluate the inhibition of retinal neovascularization by erythropoietin ( EPO) blockade.
METHODS: Neonates of C57BL/6 mouse ( P7 ) were exposed to 75%±2% oxygen for 5d and return to normal air environment when 12d ( P12 ) to establish oxygen-induced retinal neovascularization model. The neonates were divided into groups, injected with 0. 5μL solution containing 25ng ( group A), 50ng ( group B), 250ng ( group C) of soluble erythropoietin receptor ( EPO-R) or PBS (group D) at P12, P14 and P16 in the right eye. On P17, the litters were sacrificed and their right eyes were enucleated and fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde, made pathological section. The number of breakthrough internal limiting membrane neovascular nuclei was counted with pathological retinal morphology, understanding theproliferative degree of retinal neovascularization.
RESULTS: The pathological sections showed the neovascular cell nuclei which penetrating the inner limiting membrane in intravitreal EPO receptor injection group was reduced statistically than that in PBS injection group, the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.01). And, neovascular nuclei count differences in the
various concentrations of EPO receptor group was statistically significant (P<0. 01). With the EPO receptor concentration increase, neovascular endothelial cells broken through the internal limiting membrane was reduced.
CONCLUSION: Intravitreal injection of soluble EPO receptor can block EPO and improve neovascularization. The new method is expected to become new treatment of ocular neovascular diseases.
