Objective To investigate the house air pollution and its influence on the patients with perennial allergic rhinitis. Methods The method of case control study was used in 2001-2002 23 patients with perennial allergic rhinitis selected as the case and 23 normal as the control house dust mites in particular D.pteronyssinusDp and D.farinaeDf fungus bacteria was detected. Results The allergic skin test of dust and acarid were both positive among the patients with perennial allergic rhinitis. The colony of fungi in the house of patients was 917?668 cfu/m3 that of bacteria was 2 679?1 723 cfu/m3 Dp was 0.72 ?0.29100 IU/ml and Df was 0.61?0.34100 IU/ml in houses-dust compared with the control no significant deferences had been seen. Conclusion The patients with perennial allergic rhinitis are susceptible to the allergens in house dust mites.

The yeast Sacchromyces cerevisiae is most widely used for producing bioethanol in alcoholic industry due to its higher ethanol yield and fermentation rate. However, the toxic effect of accumulated ethanol is one of the main factors, which limit high ethanol production. Thus, investigating the mechanisms of yeast ethanol tolerance will provide the basis for solving the industrial problem. This article reviewed the mechanisms of Sacchromyces cerevisiae ethanol tolerance focusing on its cell physiological behaviors, structure and biochemical composition, as well as its genetic basis.

Objective To explore whether chlamydia pneumoniae(CP) infection causes the coronary artery morphology change in children and their reciprocity. Methods Serum immunoglobin M(IgM) and immunoglobin G(IgG) antibody to CP were detected by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 52 hospitalized children aged 1 month to 10 years and 5 months old in respiratory ward in our hospital, serum interleukin-6(IL-6),triglyceride(TG) and peripheral blood C-reactive protein(CRP) were also determined, morphology change of coronary artery of the patients were harvested by colored doppler echocardiogram. Results In the 52 cases,21 cases were positive of IgM,28 cases were positive of IgG,3 cases were positive both IgM and IgG.Twelve cases were high of CRP,5 cases were high of IL-6,9 cases were high of TG.In the 52 patients, the different levels of IgM,IgG,IL-6,CRP and TG had not coronary artery morphology change. Conclusion CP infection in the children does not cause the coronary artery to occur morphology change.

Objective To investigate the clinical and radiological features of the patients with cryptogenic stroke as the first manifestation of pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM),and to explore the mechanism and summarize the diagnostic strategy. Methods Transcmnial Doppler (TCD) bubble tests,non-contrast or contrast-enhanced transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography,contrast-enhanced thoracic CT and pulmonary angiography were performed in 2 patients with cryptogenic stroke for the detection of right to left shunt (RLS) and the diagnosis of PAVM.Then interventional catheter embolization of PAVM and postoperative follow-up were arranged. Results TCD bubble tests in these 2 patients showed the following characteristics indicating RLS:spontaneous continuous shunt at rest, earlystage shunt appeared rapidly after injection, considerable large amount of shunt volume as a shower of microbubble, the extent of shunt volume not attenuated by Valsalva Maneuver (VM).One patient was diagnosed as PAVM,the other was PAVM plus patent foramen ovale (PFO).Both patients of PAVM were successfully treated with interventional catheter embolizations. Then TCD bubble test was repeated and showed significantly decreased amount of RLS.They remained asymptomatic during the 3-year and 1-year follow-up.Conclusions In patients with cryptogenic stroke due to suspected paradoxical embolism,TCD bubble test should be performed for screening RLS.Besides PFO,a traditional access to intracardiac shunt,PAVM should be considered as a new access to extracardiac shunt in paradoxical embolism.

Objective To investigate the efficacy and security of cypher stent(sirolimus-eluting stent)in the treatment of old patients with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods From November 2002 to May 2005,328 elderly CHD cases(age:60-86 years)were treated with 415 Cypher stents.Among the 328 patients,66 had ST-segment elevation of myocardial infarction,21 had non ST-segment elevation of myocardial infarction,149 had unstable angina and 92 had stable angina. As for lesion characteristics, diffuse disease was found in 91 case(26.1%),bifurcation lesions in 68 cases(19.6%),chronic total occlusion lesions in 56 cases(16.0%),in-stent restenosis in 14 cases and ostial lesions in 15 case. The immediate angiographic outcome, major cardiac event(MACE) and angiographic follow-up at 6 months were assessed. Results Stent implantation was successfully achieved in 99% patients with CHD.Acute and sub-acute stent thrombosis occurred in 2 patients, late stent thrombosis with AMI occurred in 2 patients,1 died during the 6 months follow-up.The MACE rate during hospitalization was 0.6% and 3.6% during 6 months follow-up.Angiographic follow-up in 84 patients at 6 months showed that in-stent restenosis rate(ISR)was 8.3%(restenosis within the stents was 2.4%).The target vessel revascularization(TLR)rate was 5.9%.Conclusions Cypher stent implantation in CHD is safe and effective, the ISR rate and TLR rate are significantly lower than those of bare metal stents.

Objective To prepare the survival motor neuron(SMN)polyclonal antibody and explore the localization of SMN protein in transfected cells and its expression in skeletal muscles of patients with spinal muscular atrophy(SMA).Methods A prokaryotic expressional plasmid named pET-28? (+)/SMN was constructed and SMN-His fusion protein was induced. The fusion protein was used to immunize New Zealadd rabbits to prepare SMN polyclonal antibody.A eukaryotic expressional plasmid named pcDNA3.1/myc-HisB-SMN was constructed and used to transfect CHO cells.Skeletal muscles were collected from 3 patients with bone fracture who were regarded as normal controls, and 3 SMA patients of type Ⅰ, 3 of type Ⅱ and 3 of type Ⅲ who were ascertained by genetic analysis.Western-blotting and immunofluorescence stain were applied to study the expression of SMN in transfected CHO cells and skeletal muscles of normal individuals and SMA patients. Results Correct pET-28a(+)/SMN prokaryotic expressive plasmid was constructed and SMN-His fusion protein was obtained from E coli BL21 transformed with pET-28a(+)/SMN.Then, rabbit anti-human full-length SMN polyclonal antibody of high specificity and sensitivity was obtained from rabbits immunized by SMN-His fusion protein.SMN proteins were shown diffusedly locating in the cytoplasm and nucleus of CHO cells transfected with pcDNA3.1/myc-HisB-SMN plasmid and mainly accumulating around the nucleus. The results of Western-blotting were as follows:the average ratio of SMN band density to glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH)band density (SMN/GAPDH)is 0.619 in skeletal muscles from normal controls, the average values of SMN/GAPDH in skeletal muscle from SMA patients of type Ⅲ and Ⅱ were 0.347 and 0.340 respectively, which were lower than that of normal controls. However, the average values of SMN/GAPDH in skeletal muscle from SMA patients of type I was only 0.079, which was quite lower than that of normal controls. Conclusions The rabbit anti-human full-length SMN polyclonal antibody is of high specificity and sensitivity, which makes the basis for the research of SMN function and SMA pathogenesis. There may be a correlation between the SMN level in skeletal muscle and the severity of disease.
