For quality standard refinements and internationalization of Chinese medicine, a technological innovation strategy encompassing its methodology, and the R&D direction of the subsequent core technology are also presented.

3.Different types of fixation for posterior pilon fractures

Objective To explore the mechanisms of posterior pilon fractures and evaluate the curative effects of different types of fixation on the treatment of posterior pilon fractures.Methods We included in this retrospective study 20 patients with posterior pilon fracture who had been treated from January 2012 to January 2015 at our department.They were 10 men and 10 women,from 23 to 77 years of age (average,50.6 years).According to the classification by Yu Guangrong,5 cases belonged to type Ⅰ,3 to type Ⅱa,4 to type Ⅱb,and 7 to type Ⅲ.One was not indentified because of lacking CT examination.The mechanisms included ground level fall in 2 cases,motor vehicle accident in 7,fall off stairs in 5,sport injury in 2,fall from a bike in one and fall from a height in 3.More than 25% of the articular surface was involved in 13 patients.Syndesmosis injury was identified in 6 patients by Cotton test during operation.Internal fixation varied accordingly.We recorded the mechanism,classification,proportion of the articular surface involved (more or less than 25%),and syndesmosis injury to figure out the characteristics of posterior pilon fractures.We used the Burwell-Charnley radiographic criteria to assess the postoperative reduction of the articular surface,and the Olerud-Molander scoring scale and visual analogue scale (VAS) to assess the ankle function.The curative effects of different types of fixation on the treatment of posterior pilon fractures were compared.Results Of the 20 patients,17 were available for follow-up for 6 to 36 months (average,17.8 months).Two patients received reoperation because of implant failure after cannulated screw fixation from anterior to posterior.The Burwell-Charnley radiographic evaluation revealed 12 anatoinical reducations and 8 fair reductions.The mean Olerud-Molander score for the 17 patients at the final follow-ups was 81.5 (range,from 35 to 100) and the mean walking VAS was 1 (from 0 to 3).Conclusions Posterior pilon fractures are mostly caused by medium to high energy violence,resulting from a combination of rotational and vertical forces.Since there is a high risk of implant failure,the cannulated screw fixation from anterior to posterior is not recommended.Good clinical outcomes are observed in the cannulated screw fixation from posterior to anterior and the plate/cannulated screw fixation for posterior pilon fractures.
4.Comparison of Rhizosphere Bacteria Diversity Between Fusarium Wilt Resistant and Susceptible Watermelon

The traditional culture methods and the molecular biology methods were used to study the rhizosphere bacterial diversity between fusarium wilt resistant and susceptible watermelon. The results showed that the diversity and the equality of cultured rhizosphere bacteria of resistant watermelon were higher than those of the susceptible watermelon. The reason was that the cultured rhizosphere bacterial di- versity index H′ and 1/D of the resistant watermelon were higher than those of the susceptible watermelon and that the cultured rhizosphere bacterial equality index E of the resistant watermelon were higher than those of the susceptible watermelon. The dominant cultured bacterial genotypes were different between re- sistant and susceptible watermelon. The genotype 1 is the dominant genotype of resistant watermelon, con- sists 51.1%. The genotype 7 is the dominant genotype of susceptible watermelon, consists 58.7%.
5.Effects of Shenqi preparation on anti-fatigue and anti-oxidant functions in mice.

OBJECTIVETo explore effects of Shenqi preparation,Traditional Chinese Medicine, on anti-fatigue and anti-oxidant functions.
METHODSOne hundred and twenty mice were randomly divided into control group and 3 experimental groups. The high, medium and low-dose of Shenqi preparation were given to the 3 experimental groups respectively, while distilled water to the control group for 15 d. The loaded swimming time, the level of lactate, serum urea nitrogen (SUN), muscle and liver glycogen, liver super-oxide dismutase (SOD), the content of malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) were assayed.
RESULTSThe loaded swimming test showed that the exhausted swimming time of 3 experimental groups [(296.0 +/- 25.3)s, (437.0 ĝ 38.9)s, (595.0 +/- 53.9)s respectively] was longer than that of control group [(231.0 +/- 22.5)s, P < 0.05, P < 0.01]. The liver glycogen content of the high and medium-dose experimental groups were higher than that of control group respectively (P < 0.01). The SUN content of each experimental group was less than that of the control group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). Moreover,in the medium and high dose experimental groups, less accumulation of lactate was found (P < 0.01, P < 0.05), and the content of liver SOD and GSH-Px was higher (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). The content of liver MDA in high-dose experimental group was less than that of the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONShenqi preparation, especially the high and medium-dose experimental groups, is able to improve exercise tolerance and has anti-fatigue and anti-oxidant effects in mice.

6.The clinicopathological significances of LDHA and mutant p53 co-expression in gliomas

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological significances of LDHA/mutant p53 co-expres-sion in gliomas. Methods According to the 2016 WHO CNS,archived 68 gliomas were collected and analyzed retrospectively. The co-expression of LDHA/mutant p53 was detected by immunohistochemical staining. Results High expression of LDHA alone was always found in high grade gliomas(48.5%). Mutant p53 high expression was usually observed in glioblastomas (26.5%). There was a close relationship between co-expression of LDHA/mutant p53 in glioblastoma(27.9%,P = 0.005),or gliomas with high histological grading(27.9%,P = 0.002). Conclusions Co-expression of LDHA/mutant p53 in tumor cells might be a specific immunohistochemical pheno-type of gliomas,and may help for distinguishing glioblastoma and other high grade gliomas from low grade gliomas.
7.The effect of up-regulating miR-34c-5p on the proliferation and invasion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line HONE-1

Objective To investigate the effect of up-regulating miR-34c-5p on cloning formation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line HONE-1 in vitro. Methods Expression levels of miR-34c-5p in nasopharyngeal cell line NP69 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line HONE-1 were investigated by real time quantitative PCR;Cloning Forma?tion Test and Transwell Migration Assay were used to explore the effect of up-regulating miR-34c-5p on proliferation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line HONE-1. Results The expression of miR-34c-5p in nasopharyngeal car?cinoma cell line HONE-1 was lower than that in normal nasopharyngeal cell line NP69. Up-regulating miR-34c-5p signifi?cantly suppressed the cloning formation and migration capacity, compared to those of NP69 cell line and HONE-1 with nor?mal level of miR-34c-5p(P<0.05). Conclusion Down-regulating miR-34c-5p involve in proliferation and migration of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and may be a used as a new therapeutic target for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Dementia,with a poor outcome,is a syndrome characterized by persistent impairment in cognitive function or behavioral abnormalities as evidenced by deficits in memory,attention,language,and motor activity.Hip fractures represent a widespread morbidity among the geriatric population,and fall is the main cause of osteoporotic fracture.The mortality after hip fracture reaches from 20% to 40% within one year after operation.Co-occurrence of dementia and hip fracture is a common challenge for orthopedic surgeons and other clinicians involved in hip fracture care.Until recently,dementia in patients with hip fracture has been an issue that has received scant recognition compared with conditions considered to represent a more immediate threat to life,such as cardiopulmonary and thromboembolic diseases.This article reviews the current issues and available evidence concerning dementia in patients with hip fracture.
9.Recent advances in X-ray observation index of hallux valgus and their applications.

X-ray measurement is one of the most important methods for diagnosing hallux valgus. To choose the right photographed way and the proper X-ray observation index has important significance on accurate diagnosis and correct treatment. As the in-depth research on the pathogenesis and pathological changes of hallux valgus,more new X-ray measuring methods and index have appeared. X-ray in the weight-bearing and non-weight-bearing position, dorsoplantar radiograph, lateral radio-graph, oblique radiograph and sesamoid radiograph can be taken. Many observation index can be chosen,including angles, distances,the position of sesamoid et al,can be used to evaluate deformity degree before surgery and curative effect after surgery. The following is a summary of the international and domestic recent researches about X-ray observation index of hallux valgus and their applications.

10.Oleyl pyroglutamate for use as transdermal enhancer and its enhancing mechanism.

AIMTo test the enhancing activity and the mechanism of oleyl pyroglutamate used as transdermal enhancer.
METHODSThe penetration-enhancing effects of oleyl pyroglutamate, oleyl alcohol and oleic acid on the three drugs (caffeine, tinidazole and cortisone) were observed; the transdermal enhancing mechanism of oleyl pyroglutamate was studied with the attenuated total reflectance Fourier-transfer infrared spectroscopy(ATR-FTIR) of the human stratum corneum in vivo.
RESULTSThe penetration-enhancing ratio of the three drugs was 7.9 fold, 41.8 fold and 2.8 fold, respectively. The absorptions at 2,800-2,950 cm-1 and 1,642-1,646 cm-1 (amide-I) in the ATR-FTIR spectrum of the stratum were found to be shifted differently following removal of the stratum corneum which was treated with oleyl pyroglutamate.
CONCLUSIONOleyl pyroglutamate showed better penetration-enhancing effect on the penetration of drugs. Its transdermal enhancing mechanism may be that oleyl pyroglutamate induced not only disordering of the stratum corneum lipid, but also change of the secondary structure of keratin.
