Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2007;24(6):1319-1324
This is a report on the research of HA/Ti6Al4V composite implants that were successfully fabricated by radio frequency magnetron sputtering (RF-MS) technique. The mechanism and bioactivity of these implants immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF) were investigated. Changes in surface morphology, interfacial bond state, crystal structure and phase composition of HA coating before and after immersing in SBF were characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Results indicate that a new substance on the surface of HA implant coatings produces accompanying with the dissolution of coatings. The substance is bone-like apatite containing CO3(2-) and lacking of Ca2+. Its ratio of n(Ca)/n(P) is about 1.56. This substance has very small grain size and similarly amorphous structure. Its structure and composition are similar to those of natural bone. Thus, it has good biocompatibility and bioactivity.

Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2010;29(11):916-919
Objective To investigate the effect of percutaneous eoronary intervention (PCI) on the prognosis of acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (ASTEMI) in the elderly. Methods The 1318 ASTEMI patients in our hospital from June 1998 to June 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 338 (25.6%) elderly patients were over 60 years old, and 316patients consistent with inclusion and exclusion criteria were consecutively enrolled in our research. Then they were divided into two groups: PCI group (136 cases, 43.0%) and conservative drug treatment group (180 cases, 57. 0%). The clinical data of study objects were collected. Then they were followed up regularly for two years. Results There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in mean age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, excess smoking, wine and family history (all P> 0.05). And there were no statistically significant differences in anterior wall STEMI, Killip Ⅲ-Ⅳ class, thrombolysis therapy and malignant ventricular arrhythmia (all P>0. 05). Most of the objects proceeded therapeutic lifestyle improvements, such as giving up smoking, restricting wine, regulating diet, losing weight and insisting on exercises, and so on.Secondary prevention drugs of acute myocardial infarction including angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, angiotensin receptors blockers, beta receptor, aspirin and statins were regularly administrated in the two follow-up years. In the retrospective research, incidence rates of reinfarction, NYHA (New York Heart Association) Ⅲ-Ⅳ class heart function and one-month mortality were much higher in conservative treatment group than in PCI group (17.2% vs. 2. 2%, OR=9. 224,95% CI: 2. 756-30. 857; 31.1% vs. 8.1%,OR=5.132, 95%CI: 2. 568-10. 257; 8. 3% vs. 1.5%,OR= 6. 091, 95% CI: 1. 369-27. 105, respectively; all P < 0. 01). Above all, one and two-year mortalities were much higher in conservative treatment group than in PCI group (21.1% vs. 2. 2 %,OR=11.864, 95%CI: 3.577-39.349; 32.2% vs. 4.4%, OR=10.301, 95%CI: 4.289-24.736,respectively; all P<0. 01). Conclusions PCI may reduce the re-infarction, NYHA Ⅲ-Ⅳ class heart function and one-month mortality, especially so in view of the one and two-year mortality. PCIcan significantly improve the prognosis of ASTEMI in the elderly.

Objective To explore the expressions of interleukin (IL)-17A and its receptor IL-17RA in different degrees of malignant gliomas. Methods Fifty patients with glioma were collected in this study. Accordance to the World Health Organization Classification System, patients were classified by malignancy grade, including gradeⅠ(n=12), gradeⅡ(n=18), gradeⅢ(n=13) and gradeⅣ(n=7). The glioma tissue and peripheral blood samples of patients were obtained for detecting the expression levels of IL-17A and IL-17RA mRNA by using immunohistochemistry, quantitative real-time PCR. Western blot assay was used to detect expressions of IL- 17A and IL- 17RA in both the macroscopic (immunohistochemistry) and molecular levels (mRNA and protein). Results Immunohistochemical staining showed that the expression levels of IL-17A and its receptor IL-17RA increased with the increase of the malignant degree of gliomas. The mRNA levels of IL-17A and IL-17RA receptors in peripheral blood were up-regulated with the increasing malignancy grade of glioma (F=8.96, P<0.05;F=10.34, P<0.05). The mRNA levels of IL-17A and IL-17RA in glioma tissues were up-regulated with the increasing malignancy grade of glioma (F=11.21, P<0.05;F=14.11, P<0.05). The protein levels of IL-17A and IL-17RA in peripheral blood and glioma tissues were also up-regulated with the increasing malignancy grade of glioma (in peripheral blood:F=9.90, P<0.05;F=11.80, P<0.05;and in gliomas tissues:F=8.15, P<0.05;F=14.46, P<0.05). Conclusion The expressions of IL-17A and IL-17RA receptor are positively correlated with malignancy grade of glioma. These results provide some reference for clinical diagnosis of malignant gliomas.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2008;22(20):921-923
OBJECTIVE:
Acoustic rhinometry (AR) was performed to standardize the measurement techniques, result interpretation and reference values of nasal cavity volume (NV) in preschool children.
METHOD:
(1) Nasal cavity models were used to test the correlations between NV, minimal cross-sectional area (MCA), and nasal resistance. (2) There were 97 four-year-old and 137 five-year-old children underwent AR test.
RESULT:
(1) Model tests showed that resist the nce were better correlated with the change of volume than the MCA. (2) The average bilateral NV in preschool children was (2.03 +/- 0.4) ml. No significant gender and age difference were observed (P>0.05).
CONCLUSION
Volume measurement appears more sensitive and reliable than the MCA in assessing nasal patency. The AR result interpretation and normative NV values in preschool children are introduced.

National Journal of Andrology 2017;23(10):883-888
Objective:
To explore the factors influencing the sexual function of the male patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
METHODS:
Using Arizona Sexual Experience Scale (ASEX) and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), we conducted a questionnaire investigation among 81 male patients with OSA aged 40.5 ± 8.6 years and 35 healthy volunteers aged 38.8 ± 10 years. According to the sex drive (SD) score in ASEX, we divided the OSA patients into an SD reduction group (SD score = 4, n = 32) and a non-SD reduction group (SD score <4, n = 49), compared the clinical data and polysomnographic (PSG) indexes, and analyzed the factors influencing SD by evaluating the association of the PSG indexes with the SD score.
RESULTS:
The OSA patients scored significantly higher than the healthy controls in ESS (8 ± 5 vs 5 ± 4, P <0.05) and ASEX (15 ± 4 vs 10 ± 2, P <0.05), and so did the patients of the SD reduction group than those of the non-SD reduction group in ESS (9 ± 5 vs 6 ± 5, P <0.05) and saturation impair time below 90% (SIT90) (41.01 ± 26.95 vs 21.87 ± 19.03, P <0.05). Multivariate regression analysis revealed that the SD score was significantly correlated with age (β = 0.25, P <0.001) and SIT90 (β = 0.4, P <0.001) in the OSA patients.
CONCLUSIONS
OSA affects various aspects of the sexual function, particularly SD, of the patient. The duration of hypoxia and age of the patient are independent risk factors for SD reduction, which can be considered as a main clinical symptom of OSA.

Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2022;57(12):2012-2018,2024
Objective :
To investigate the expression levels and potential clinical significance of pre-B-cell leukemia homologous box 3 (PBX3) in bone marrow samples from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) .
Methods :
The mRNA expression levels of PBX3 were determined by bioinformatics which analyzed the RNAseq data of 33 malignancies from the cancer genome atlasdatabase. (TCGA) The correlations among the expression levels of PBX3,the clinical parameters and prognosis of AML patients were further analyzed. The differentially expressed genes in the whole transcriptome were analyzed to identify the molecular network in AML caused by PBX3 expression abnormalities.
Results :
The mRNA expression levels of PBX3 were up-regulated in 12 malignancies, and the altitudes increased most significantly in AML than any other cancer types.Patients with high PBX3 expression showed shorter overall survival and disease-free survival than patients with low PBX3 expression.High PBX3 expression was significantly associated with FLT3,NPM1,and DNMT3A mutation.PBX3 expression was positively correlated with multiple ho- meobox genes (including most HOXA and HOXB genes ,MEIS1 ) ,and the expression levels of these homeobox genes were all negatively correlated with AML patients overall survival.
Conclusion
PBX3 high expression in the bone marrow of AML patients is a potential biomarker for poor prognosis ,and it may have extensive interactions with other homeobox genes.
