Guangxi COFCO innovates its annual 200 000 ton cassava ethanol production in recent years. To evaluate the energy input/output of the production process, we used the domestic life cycle model. The calculation results show that the net energy value was 9.56 MJ/L ethanol. Energy input for ethanol production was 51.3% of the total. 61.5% of energy input for ethanol production was used for steam input in ethanol distillation. Energy produced from by-product was 5.03 MJ/L ethanol. Hence, efficient use of raw materials is an important measure to improve the energy efficiency in Guangxi COFCO and energy compensation from byproducts has key impact on the net energy saving.

Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis 2006;18(2):106-108
Distributed architectures support increased load on popular web sites by dispatching client requests transparently among multiple servers in a cluster. Packet Single-Rewriting technology and client address hashing algorithm in ONE-IP technology which can ensure application-session-keep have been analyzed, an improved request dispatching algorithm which is simple, effective and supports dynamic load balance has been proposed. In this algorithm, dispatcher evaluates which server node will process request by applying a hash function to the client IP address and comparing the result with its assigned identifier subset; it adjusts the size of the subset according to the performance and current load of each server, so as to utilize all servers' resource effectively. Simulation shows that the improved algorithm has better performance than the original one.

Psychiatry Investigation 2023;20(2):84-92
Objective:
The study investigated cognitive performance and brain function between treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and non- TRD patients to find potential neurobiological markers associated with refractoriness in depression patients.
Methods:
Fourteen TRD patients, 26 non-TRD patients and 23 healthy controls (HC) were included in the present study. The neural function of prefrontal cortex (PFC) and cognitive performance among the three group were examined using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) during verbal fluency task (VFT).
Results:
Both TRD and non-TRD groups exhibited significantly worse VFT performance and lower activation of oxygenated hemoglobin (oxy-Hb) changes in the bilateral dorsolateral PFC (DLPFC) compared to the HC group. Within the TRD and non-TRD groups, VFT performance was no significant difference, but activation of oxy-Hb changes in dorsomedial PFC (DMPFC) in TRD patients was significantly lower than non-TRD patients. In addition, activation of oxy-Hb changes in right DLPFC were negatively correlated with the severity of depressive symptoms in depression patients.
Conclusion
Both TRD patients and non-TRD patients exhibited lower oxy-Hb activation in DLPFC. TRD patients exhibit lower oxy- Hb activation in DMPFC than non-TRD patients. fNIRS maybe a useful tool for predict depressive patients with or without treatment resistant.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the changes of peripheral blood neutrophil apoptosis rate and the effect of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK) inhibitor on peripheral blood neutrophil apoptosis in severely burned patients.
METHODS:
Severe burn patients [burn area ≥ 30% total body surface area (TBSA), deep II to III degrees, burn index ≥ 20%, age > 20 years old] admitted to the department of burn and plastic surgery of Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January to May in 2019 and health examination volunteers during the same period were enrolled. The peripheral blood neutrophils were isolated by Ficoll gradient centrifugation. The neutrophils of severely burned patients were divided into burn group and p38MAPK inhibitor SB203580 group (after 30 minutes incubation at room temperature and 24 hours incubation in incubator); the neutrophils of healthy volunteers were used as control group. The apoptosis of neutrophils was detected by flow cytometry; the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in neutrophils was detected by fluorescence probe; the expression of p38MAPK protein and its phosphorylation (p-p38MAPK) level were detected by Western Blot.
RESULTS:
Compared with the control group, the apoptosis rate of neutrophils in burn group was significantly decreased [(37.42±3.14)% vs. (50.20±9.87)%, P < 0.05], and the ROS production level in neutrophils was significantly increased (fluorescence intensity: 83.28±0.29 vs. 75.23±0.34, P < 0.05). The apoptosis rate of neutrophils in SB203580 group was further lower than that in burn group [(25.51±1.56)% vs. (37.42±3.14)%, P < 0.05], and the level of ROS production was further higher than that in burn group (fluorescence intensity: 95.56±3.67 vs. 83.28±0.29, P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the protein expression of p38MAPK among the three groups. The p-p38MAPK protein level in burn group was significantly lower than that in control group (p-p38MAPK/p38MAPK: 0.45±0.06 vs. 0.91±0.09, P < 0.05), while the expression level of p-p38MAPK in SB203580 group was further lower than that in burn group (p-p38MAPK/p38MAPK: 0.22±0.04 vs. 0.45±0.06, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Peripheral blood neutrophil apoptosis delayed and ROS production were increased in severely burned patients. The mechanism may be related to p38MAPK pathway inhibitor.

Objective: To elucidate the effect of sulfur fumigation on the content of chemical composition and quality of Panacis Quinquefolii Radix, and to discuss the identification method of sulfur fumigated Panacis Quinquefolii Radix. Method: The content changes of ginsenoside Rb1, Re, Rg1 in Panacis Quinquefolii Radix were determined by HPLC-DAD before and after sulfur fumigation. The content changes of 11 inorganic elements in Panacis Quinquefolii Radix before and after sulfur fumigation were detected by microwave digestion method and inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry tandem mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The quality difference of Panacis Quinquefolii Radix before and after sulfur fumigation was qualitatively distinguished combined with the principal component analysis. Result: Three ginsenosides were well separated and showed good linearity with R2 ≥ 0.999.Before sulfur fumigation, the contents of ginsenoside Rg1, Re and Rb1 in Panacis Quinquefolii Radix were (0.897±0.045), (13.092±0.639), (12.896±0.430) g ·kg-1, respectively. After sulfur fumigation, the contents of these three components in Panacis Quinquefolii Radix were (0.807±0.032), (11.968±0.627), (11.752±0.696) g ·kg-1, respectively. After fumigation, the contents of inorganic elements (Cr, Mn, Co, Cu, As, Se, Ag, Cd, Sb, Pb and Fe) from Panacis Quinquefolii Radix increased in varying degrees. According to the distribution results of three-dimensional (3D) scattered points, sulfur and non-sulfur fumigation products of Panacis Quinquefolii Radix could be effectively distinguished. Conclusion: After sulfur fumigation, the contents of ginsenoside Re and Rb1 in Panacis Quinquefolii Radix decrease significantly, but the contents of 11 inorganic elements increase, suggesting that sulfur fumigation may have a great influence on the quality of Panacis Quinquefolii Radix.

Objective To compare the early clinical effects of unilateral biportal endoscopic lumbar interbody fusion (ULIF) and minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF)on single-segment lumbar stenosis with instability. Methods The patients who had single-segment lumbar spinal stenosis with instability and were treated in our hospital from August 2020 to May 2021 were selected.According to the operation methods, they were classified into ULIF group and MIS-TLIF group. The operation duration, hospital stay after operation, perioperative blood loss (drainage volume 48 h after operation, total blood loss),creatine kinase, inflammatory cytokines (C-reactive protein,interleukin-6),D-dimer,and the incidence of lower-extremity venous thrombosis were compared between the two groups. The visual analogue scale and Oswestry disability index were used to evaluate the functional recovery of the two groups in 1 week,1 month, and 3 months after operation. Results The ULIF group had longer operation duration (P<0.001) and shorter hospital stay after operation (P=0.022)than the MIS-TLIF group. The drainage volume 48 h after operation and total blood loss in ULIF group were lower than those in MIS-TLIF group (all P<0.001).The levels of creatine kinase (all P<0.001),C-reactive protein (P<0.001,P=0.002),and interleukin-6 (P=0.003,P<0.001) in ULIF group were lower than those in MIS-TLIF group on the 1st and 3rd day after operation. However, the D-dimer in ULIF group was insignificantly different from that in MIS-TLIF group on the 1st and 3rd day after operation (P=0.117,P=0.683).Lower-extremity venous thrombosis occurred in neither group. The score of visual analogue scale showed no significant difference between the two groups 1 week,1 month, and 3 months after operation (P=0.447,P=0.578,P=0.538),so did the Oswestry disability index (P=0.832,P=0.797,P=0.619). Conclusion ULIF shows similar clinical effect on single-segment lumbar stenosis with instability to MIS-TLIF,which features less bleeding, mild inflammation, mild muscle injury, but long operation duration.

BACKGROUNDThe hippocampus and amygdala exhibit structural and functional alterations in patients with depression. The objective of this study was to investigate the structural and functional relationships between these core regions.
METHODSBased on the severity of their condition, 60 patients and 20 healthy controls were equally divided into four groups (mild group, moderate group, major group and health controls group), scanned by T1-MR, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI). Structural image, BOLD image, and SWI image were collected for processing and analysis. The characteristics of the depression and controls were checked by analysis of variance test, and the difference between groups was checked by Dunnett's test.
RESULTSThe volume of hippocampus and amygdala varied with the severity of the condition. The signal obtained under the stimulation of negative events was linearly decreased in the mild, moderate and major groups revealed by fMRI. The length and diameter of the lateral ventricle vein was reduced in the mild group, whereas the number of branches increased. In the moderate and major groups, the reduction in the length, diameter and increase in the number of branches of the lateral ventricle vein were greater.
CONCLUSIONThe alterations of the volume, fMRI, and cerebral veins in these core regions may account for the causal relationship between structure and function.
