CpG motifs are unmethylated oligodeoxynucleotides, and its core sequences are composed of unmethylated cytosine and unmethylated guanine.CpG motifs can induce the immune response by activating a variety of immune cells against diseases. The changes of CpG structure will increase the biological activities of CpG,and then enhance the therapeutic effect of CpG as the immuno adjuvant and the sensitizer of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in cancer treatment

BACKGROUND:Magnetic bone cements have been used to treat bone metastasis in Japan, which are made by adding Fe3O4 nanoparticles to bone cements. Magnetic bone cements containing micron carbonyl iron powder have not been reported.
OBJECTIVE:To prepare polymethylmethacrylate-based cements containing carbonyl iron powder, and to test the magnetic characterizations and the heat-generating abilities of al samples according to ISO 5833 standard in vitro. METHODS:The carbonyl iron powder was mixed with polymethylmethacrylate-based bone cement power to prepare magnetic bone cements containing 0%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%carbonyl iron powder, respectively. The setting time, polymerization temperature, compressive strength, magnetic property and in vitro heat-generating ability were tested.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The setting time and polymerization temperature were increased with the increased content of carbonyl iron powder. The highest polymerization temperature of each sample was 65-70 ℃. The increased content of carbonyl iron power could not change the highest polymerization temperature but delay its appearance. The compressive strength of each sample was higher than 60 MPa, and moreover, the compressive strength of the pure polymethylmethacrylate-based bone cement was higher than 60 MPa, which met the ISO 5833 standard. The saturation magnetic intensity was increased with the increasing of carbonyl iron power content. The heat-generating ability of magnetic bone cements had a positive correlation with the magnetic field strength and the content of carbonyl iron powder.

Objective To investigate the expression of Gli1 protein in colorectal cancer (CRC) tissues, and evaluate its association with the prognoses of the patients. Methods A total of 106 patients were enrolled and their clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed. The expression of Gli1 proteins were detected by immunohistochemical staining, and its association with time to recurrence/metastasis (TTR) and overall survival (OS) of the patients were analyzed. Results The positive rate and expression intensity of Gli1 protein in recurrent or metastatic tumor tissues were higher than those in non-recurrent and non-metastatic tumor tissues [86.84 % (33/38) vs.58.82 % (40/68),1.32 scores vs.0.71 scores, both P < 0.01),while the positive rate and expression intensity of Ki-67 protein remained no difference between both groups [97.37 % (37/38) vs.91.18 % (62/68),1.89 scores vs.1.75 scores, both P > 0.05).The positive rates and expression intensities of Gli1 and Ki-67 proteins in CRC tissues were higher than those in adjacent tissues [26.42 % (28/106) and 0.27 scores;4.72 %(5/106),0.05 scores] and normal tissues [3.33 % (1/106),0.03 scores;0,0.00 scores] (all P < 0.01).Results of univariate analysis showed that the expression of Gli1 protein, tumor grade and lymph node involvement were significantly associated with TTR,but all of the clinicopathological factors had no obvious association with OS.The association remained significant between the expression of Gli1 protein and TTR in multivariate analysis (P < 0.01).Conclusion The expression of Gli1 protein is an independent prognostic marker of recurrence or metastasis in CRC patients, its high expression implicates a high risk of CRC recurrence or metastasis.

Objective:To explore the impact of domestic bivalirudin on platelet function during emergency percutane-ous coronary intervention (PCI) .Methods :A total of 100 patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial in-farction who recieved emergency PCI were randomly divided into unfractionated heparin group (UFH group ,n=53) and bivalirudin group (n=47) .Adenyl diphosphoric acid (ADP)-induced platelet aggregation rate was meas-ured and statistically compared between two groups before and after PCI .Results:Before emergency PCI ,there was no significant difference in ADP-induced platelet aggregation rate between two groups (P=0.99) .After emergency PCI ,ADP-induced platelet aggregation rate in bivalirudin group was significantly lower than that of UFH group [ (16.46 ± 10.23)% vs .(25.21 ± 15.91) % , P<0.01] .Conclusion:During percutaneous coronary intervention , compared with routine heparin anticoagulation , bivalirudin , as an anticoagulant , can more significantly inhibit platelet aggregation and possess antiplatelet effect .
