Objective To summarize the experience in diagnosis and therapy of familial adenomatous polyposis with desmoid tumour. Methods Clinical data of 6 patients with familial adenomatous polyposis and desmoid tumour from Jan 1989 to Jan 2005 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Five patients received proctocolectomy and 1 abdominoperineal resection. The most common symptom was progressive painless mass in abdomen. All patients were confirmed by image examination. Four received surgery, 2 were treated by medicine postoperatively and 1 got watchful therapy. Postoperative recurrence developed in two cases and one suffered from short bowel syndrome. All patients were alive at the follow-up. Conclusions FAP with desmoid tumour is not a rare condition and we should pay attention to diagnosis and manage this disease entity. A reasonable remedy was selected according to general state of health and location of desmoid tumour which can improve prognosis and quality of life.

OBJECTIVE To investigate whether stromal cell-derived factor-1α (SDF-1α) might be able to prevent senescence of endothelial stem cell (ESC) and also study its effects on the telomerase activity. METHODS Total mononuclear cells (MNCs) were isolated from peripheral blood by density gradient centrifugation, and then the cells were plated on fibronectin-coated culture dishes. After cultured for 4 d, attached cells were divided into control and SDF-1α 1, 10, 50 and 100 μg·L~(-1) groups. ESC became senescent as determined by acidic β-galactosidase staining. The proliferation of ESC was assessed by MTT assay and colony-forming capacity. Telomerase activity was measured by telomerase-PCR ELISA and the phosphorylation of Akt was determined by using Western blotting. RESULTS Ex vivo prolonged cultivation of ESC led to rapid onset of ESC senescence. Compared with control group, SDF-1α concentration-dependently inhibited the onset of ESC senescence, maximum at 100 μg·L~(-1) (40.8±7.1 vs 17.5±3.0; P<0.01). Moreover, SDF-1α 100 μg·L~(-1) increased ESC proliferation (0.22±0.02 vs 0.39±0.04; P<0.01) and ESC colony-forming activity (7.8±2.2 vs 22.4±3.4). Compared with control group, SDF-1α 100 μg·L~(-1) also increased telomerase activity (0.34±0.05 vs 0.57±0.09; P<0.01). In addition, SDF-1α treatment of ESC stimulated a concentration- and time-dependent Akt phosphorylation. CONCLUSION SDF-1α-induced prevention of ESC senescence leads to the potentiation of proliferative activity, and clonal expansion, which may be related to the activation of telomerase and Akt phosphorylation.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2022;43(4):557-561
Objective:
The study aims to determine the latent class of roles in bullying victimization and perpetration among primary and secondary school students and to explore its relationship with academic achievement and screen use, to provide a reference for developing preventive measures and intervention plans.
Methods:
A total of 29 099 students at grade 5,6,7,8,10, and 11 from Shenzhen were surveyed through convenient cluster sampling method by Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire. The latent class analysis was used for classifying bully/victim category.
Results:
The latent class analysis revealed three classes, the noninvolvement group (low response rate at all items, 80.9%), the bullying victimization group (low response rate at bullying and high response rate at victimization items, 15.9%), and the bullying victimization and perpetration group (high response rate at all items,3.3%). Boys were more likely than girls to belong to the bullying victimization and perpetration at all study sections ( OR =0.83,0.74, 0.47 , P <0.05). Transfer students were at higher risk to be in the bullying victimization group in elementary and middle school ( OR = 1.21 ,1.21), while they were more likely to fall into the bullying victimization and perpetration group in high school ( OR =2.65)( P < 0.05). Students with poor academic performance were more likely to be in the bullying victimization group at all sections ( OR = 0.98 ,0.98,0.98) and in the bullying victimization and perpetration group at elementary and middle school ( OR =0.97, 0.98)( P < 0.05 ). Students spending longer time on screen had elevated risk in the bullying victimization group ( OR =1.06,1.04,1.08, P < 0.05 ).
Conclusion
Students with poor academic achievement and prolonged screen time are at higher risks to be involved in bullying victimization and perpetration. Collaboration between home and school are needed to preventing bullying victimization perpetration.

Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control 2014;(6):591-597
This report presented the endemic status of schistosomiasis in the People's Republic of China at national level in 2013. By the end of 2013,there are 184 943 schistosomiasis japonica cases. Meanwhile, nine acute cases were reported, and 4 cases reduced compared with that of 2012. A total of 29 796 advanced cases were reported;while 911 cases were determined as advanced cases and 1 700 cases were dead in 2013. Nationally, there were around 365 467.99 hm2 Oncomelania snail infested areas in total and 9.25 hm2 of them habituated infected snails in 2013. There were 287.28 hm2 of snail infested areas found in non?endemic areas historically. Moreover,962 065 cattle were estimated to be raised in endemic regions and 633 cattle were deter?mined as positive by stool examinations. The data showed that the endemicity of schistosomiasis in China decreased further. How?ever, challenges exist to reach the aims of the medium and long term national program. Further control and effective surveillance need to be strengthened as the endemicity of schistosomiasis is unstable in the areas after schistosomiasis transmission under con?trol or interruption.

Chinese Medical Journal 2010;123(17):2353-2357
BACKGROUNDNeoadjuvant chemoradiation is now considered the standard care for locally advanced rectal carcinoma (T3-4 or/and N1-2 lesions), but the accuracy of staging examinations including endorectal ultrasonography (ERUS) and MRI is far from excellent. In addition, the above staging equipment or professionals who perform the examinations may not be available in some hospitals, while preoperative colonoscopy and biopsy are usually obtainable in most hospitals. The objective of the present study was to investigate the clinical and pathological characteristics of locally advanced rectal carcinoma and identify candidates for neoadjuvant chemoradiation.
METHODSThis was a retrospective study. Patients who were treated for rectal cancer at Changhai Hospital from January 1999 to July 2008 were identified from our prospectively collected database. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Software System (version 15.0). The Mann-Whitney test, chi-square test and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were performed.
RESULTSA total of 1005 cases were included in this research, of which 761 cases were identified as locally advanced rectal carcinoma depending on postoperative TNM staging. The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis indicated seven independent risk factors that could be used to predict a locally advanced rectal carcinoma independently: a high grade (including poor differentiation and undifferentiation) (OR: 3.856; 95% CI: 2.064 to 7.204; P = 0.000); large tumor size (OR: 2.455; 95% CI: 1.755 to 3.436; P = 0.000); elevated preoperative serum CEA level (OR: 1.823; 95% CI: 1.309 to 2.537; P = 0.000); non-polypoid tumor type (OR: 1.758; 95% CI: 1.273 to 2.427; P = 0.001); the absence of synchronous polyps (OR: 1.602; 95% CI: 1.103 to 2.327; P = 0.013); the absence of blood in stool (OR: 1.659; 95% CI: 1.049 to 2.624; P = 0.030); and a greater circumferential tumor extent (OR: 1.813; 95% CI: 1.055 to 3.113; P = 0.031). Based on these findings, a Logistic equation was established, the accuracy of which was 64% according to the information of the additional 50 cases.
CONCLUSIONSSome independent risk factors related with locally advanced rectal carcinoma were identified, based on which it is possible to establish a Logistic equation as a tool to predict candidates of neoadjuvant chemoradiation. Further research about optimization of the equation is warranted.
