Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2010;9(4):270-272
One hundred and fifty patients with 70 percent or more of carotid steno-ocelusion confirmed by digital subtraction angiography were selected to analyze risk factors for its clinical symptoms. Results of analysis showed that risk for clinical symptom increased with severity of unilateral carotid stenosis (OR = 3.546,95% CI 1.515-8.300,P = 0.004).Whereas presence of "functional complete circle of Willis" was a protective factor for it (OR = 0.208,95 % CI 0.045-0.962,P = 0.045).

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in pa-tients with small-cell lung cancer patients (SCLC). Methods 42 SCLC patients, 10 patients with benign lung disease(hospitalized from June 2012 to June 2013), and 10 healthy volunteers from the First Affiliated Hospital of Shihezi University Medical College were studied and their clinical information was collected. Negative immuno-magnetic separation method and immunocytochemistry method were applied to collect the Pan-CK +/CD45 - of CTCs, in order to analyze the relationship between CTCs and clinical manifestation. Results CTCs were found in 32 cases of SCLC group, with a positive rate of 76.19%. CTCs was not found in peripheral blood in control group. Difference in the two groups is significant (P = 0.000). The presence of CTCs was correlated positively with the patients′ PS score , clinical stage , M stage , the number of metastatic sites , NSE value and LDH value (P < 0.05). Conclusion The CTCs number is correlated with patients′ PS score, clinical stage, M stage, the number of metastatic sites, NSE value and LDH value, respectively. CTCs detection is useful for more accurate risk assessment of patients.

Objective To investigate the effect of estrogen receptor ?(ER-?)on the formation of mice endometriosis. Methods Endometriosis animal model was established with 30 ER-? knockout(?ERKO)mice and 22 ER-? non-knockout(?ER)mice.All the mice were divided into three groups:intact group(?ERKO 10 and ?ER 8),ovariectomy group(?ERKO 10 and ?ER 7)and ovariectomy + estradiol treatment group(?ERKO 10 and ?ER 7).The endometriotic grafts were taken out from all the mice 2 weeks after operation, and the weight, histological structure and the expression of MMP-9 in the grafts were analyzed and compared between ?ERKO and ?ER mice. Results The endometriotic grafts were significantly heavier 2 weeks after transplantation than that before transplantation in intact group(P0.05).In addition,no significant differences were found between the ?ERKO and the ?ER mice in endometriotic grafts' weight, the histopathologic structure and the expression of MMP-9.Conclusion ER-? may throw few influence on the formation of endometriosis.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2012;47(12):1593-8
This study is to investigate the effects of ubenimex on tumor cell invasion and apoptosis, dose relationship and mechanism. Immunofluorescence staining was performed to detect the expression of CD13 in HT-1080 cells. MTT assay was used to analyze the effect of ubenimex on cell proliferation. Annexin V-EGFP/PI was used to detect apoptotic cells by flow cytometry. Cell cycle was analyzed using flow cytometry. Ala-pNA was used as substrate to evaluate the effect of ubenimex on the aminopeptidase activity. Transwell assay was used to analyze the effect of ubenimex on cell invasion and migration ability. Western blotting was used to detect the expression level of CD13. MMP activity was analyzed using gelatin zymography. The results showed that ubenimex at high concentration inhibited the proliferation of HT-1080 cells (IC50: 3.8 mg x mL(-1)), and induced cell apoptosis. Cell cycle was blocked at G1 phase. Ubenimex at low concentration inhibited the aminopeptidase activity of HT-1080 cells (IC50: 8.3 microg x mL(-1)) and inhibited cell invasion, but it had no effects on the cell migration and proliferation. Ubenimex had no effects on CD13 expression and MMP activity. In conclusion, ubenimex at low concentration can inhibit the invasion ability of tumor cells by directly inhibiting the aminopeptidase activity; ubenimex at high concentration can inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells and induce cell apoptosis by a CD13-independent pathway.

Hepatic eosinophilic granuloma (HEG) is a rare benign liver disease, which belongs to histocytosis.Preoperative diagnosis of HEG was difficult because its clinical manifestation was not characteristic. In this article, the clinical data of 1 patient with HEG who was treated at the Jinhua Municipal Central Hospital of Zhejiang Province in September 2012 were retrospectively analyzed, and the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment for HEG were investigated.

Objective:To study the effects of secreted stem cell factor(S SCF) and transmembrane SCF(TM SCF) on the biological functions of mast cells, including proliferation, release of histamine and secretion of cytokine to explore the biological characteristics of the two forms of SCF.Methods:MTT,fluorescence technique,in situ hybridization were used to detect the several biological functions of mast cells, such as proliferation, release of histamine and the transcription of TNF ? mRNA.Results:It was shown that S SCF could significantly promote the proliferation of mast cells, release of histamine and TNF ? mRNA transcription, while TM SCF had only a weaker positive effect on histamine relase and no any effect on proliferation and TNF ? mRNA transcription. Conclusion:The biological actions of TM SCF on mast cells are different from that of S SCF.
