Purpose: To observe the clinical efficacy on acupuncture treatment of functional dyspepsia. Methods: Major points including Zusanli (ST 36) were selected on the basis of meridian theory to treat functional dyspepsia with even reinforcing-reducing manipulations and electric stimulation. While commonly-used western medication domperidone was used in a control group. Results and conclusions: The total effective rate and the markedly effective rate were 93.8% and 63.3% respectively in the acupuncture group and 82.2% and 43.1% respectively in the medication group. The curative effect on nonspecific functional dyspepsia was better in the acupuncture group than in the medication group (P<0.05).Both treatments had marked effects on the dyskinetic type without a significant difference (P>0.05).

Glaucoma is the first leading cause of irreversible blindness and the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. Numerous studies have shown that elevated intraocular pressure ( IOP ) is one of the major risk factors for the development and progression of glaucomatous optic nerve damage. However, there have been 50% of primary open-angle glaucoma ( POAG ) patients with typical glaucomatous optic neuropathy in whom the IOP measurements have always been in the normal range, and some patients develop typical glaucomatous optic neuropathy with the well controlled IOP. These phenomena cannot be explained by the theory of high intraocular pressure. The pathogenesis of glaucomatous optic nerve damage in these patients with normal IOP needs to be further discussed. Numerous studies at home and abroad have shown that: 1. the surrounding anatomy of the optic nerve including the IOP, the anatomy and biomechanics of the lamina cribrosa and retrobulbar orbital cerebrospinal fluid pressure may be of importance for the pathogenesis of the POAG;2. patients with normal tension glaucoma had significantly lower cerebrospinal fluid pressure and a higher trans - lamina cribrosa pressure difference compared with normal subjects; 3. patients with ocular hypertension had significantly higher cerebrospinal fluid pressure, however, there is no difference in trans -lamina cribrosa pressure compared with normal subjects. Based on the above research, now we make a review about the research advance of the relation between intracranial pressure and glaucoma optic nerve damage and the available measurements about noninvasive intracranial pressure in clinical in this paper.

Abstract BACKGROUND: Calcium dobesilate (calcium dihydroxy-2, 5-benzenesulfonate) has been widely used to treat chronic venous insufficiency and diabetic retinopathy, especialy many clinical studies showed that calcium dobesilate as vasoprotective compound ameliorates renal lesions in diabetic nephropathy. However, there are few literatures reported calcium dobesilate in the treatment of chronic renal alograft dysfunction after renal transplantation. OBJECTIVE:To observe the efficacy and safety of calcium dobesilate on chronic renal dysfunction after renal transplantation. METHODS:A total of 152 patients with chronic renal alograft dysfunction after renal transplantation were enroled from the Military Institute of Organ Transplantation, Changzheng Hospital, Second Military Medical University of Chinese PLA. They were randomly divided into the treatment group (n=78) and the control group (n=74). Patients in the treatment group received 500 mg of calcium dobesilate three times daily for eight weeks. Al patients were treated with calcineurin inhibitor-based triple immunosuppressive protocols and comprehensive therapies. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: For patients receiving calcium dobesilate, serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and uric acid decreased significantly at two weeks after treatment and maintained a stable level (P < 0.05). However, serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen returned to the original level soon after drug withdrawal. No significant difference was observed in blood cel count, liver function, blood lipids, electrolytes, blood pressure and 24-hour urine output between the two groups before and after therapy (P > 0.05). Administration of calcium dobesilate did not change the general condition of patients with renal insufficiency, nor did it affect blood concentrations of the immunosuppressive agents. Calcium dobesilate may help to delay the progress of graft injury in patients with chronic renal graft dysfunction by conjugating with creatinine, ameliorating the impaired microcirculation and its antioxidant property. The decline in serum creatinine aleviates patients’ anxiety and concern arising from the elevation of creatinine. However, the negative interference with serum creatinine caused by calcium dobesilate should be cautious in order to avoid misjudgment of patients’ condition.

Objective To investigate the effects of cytarabine(Ara-C) on expression of B7 molecules and immunogenicity of acute leukemia (AL) cells. Methods The expression of B7 molecules on fresh AL ceils and on the Ara-C exposed leukemia ceils was detected by FACS cytometer. B7 mRNA in Ara-C treated HL-60 cells were detected by reverse RT-PCR. The stimulation of proliferation of allogeneic PBMC by Ara-C treated HL-60 cells was detected by MTT method. Results B7-2 was weakly expressed in four and positive in three, whereas BT-1 was positive in only one of fourty AL patiens. Ara-C significantly enhanced B7 molecules expression on AL cells. Ara-C could induce higher expression of B7 mRNAs on HL-60 cells.Ara-C treated HL-60 cells could stimulate PBMC proliferation and promote their IFN -γ production. Conclusion Fresh AL cells express low level of B7 molecules. Ara-C enhances the B7 molecules expression on AL cells. The Ara-C treated leukemia cells can significantly stimulate the proliferation of allogeneic PBMC and induce their secretion of IFN-γ.

Objective To evaluate the intervention effect of atorvastatin on the arterial restenosis after intracavitary therapy of the lower extremity atherosclerotic occlusive disease. Methods One hundred and eighteen patients who undertook intracavitary therapy (including Balloon dilation, Stent implantation and endarterectomy, Stent implantation and thrombectomy) in our hospital from January 2008 to January 2010 were divided into two groups randomly,60 cases into the control group, and 58 cases into the atorvastatin group whom were orally medicated with Atorvastatin 20 mg once daily. Blood lipid, C-reactive protein, Intima-media thickness and the patency rate of lower limb artery of two groups were observed and recorded before treatment and at 4 weeks, 12 weeks, 24 weeks after treatment. Results Success rates of intracavitary therapy were 98. 33% (59/60) and 100. 00% (58/58) in the control and atorvastatin group respectively. The patency rate decreased in different degree with time in both groups, which decreased more significantly in the control group but remained relatively stable in the atorvastatin group. By follow up we found that the patency rate in the control group was significantly lower than that of in the Atorvastatin group(77. 96% vs 94. 82% ,P < 0. 01 )at 24 weeks. Blood lipid, C-reactive protein, Intima-media thickness and the patency rate of lower extremity artery of control group increased in different degrees, but with no statistical significance (P> 0. 05 ), while these indices began to decrease in atorvastatin group after 4 weeks of medication and were significantly lower than the control group ( P < 0.01 ). Conclusions Atorvastatin has effect on preventing the arterial restenosis after intracavitary therapy of the lower extremity atherosclerotic occlusive disease.
