OBJECTIVEThis study aimed to test the accuracy of the watch peripheral arterial tone (Watch PAT) in diagnosing the obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and its influencing factors.
METHODSThirty five outpatients who had a chief complaining of sleep snoring were recruited to receive Watch PAT test and polysomnography (PSG) simultaneously. The results of PSG were manually analyzed by an experienced technician, while the results of Watch PAT were automatically analyzed by software.
RESULTSThere was a trend that the apnea hypopnea index (AHI) of PSG was significantly higher than that of Watch PAT (P = 0.06) in the 35 patients studied, however, these two variables were significantly correlated (P < 0.001), and the correlation coefficient was as high as 0.955. A linear regression analysis which used the AHI of Watch PAT to predict the AHI of PSG also concluded same result and the equation was AHI (PSG) = 0.944 + 1.030AHI (Watch PAT), P < 0.001. The analysis which used ROC curve to test the diagnostic efficiency of Watch PAT concluded that the area under the curve could reach to 0.953 (P < 0.001), and if an AHI (Watch PAT) threshold of ≥ 8.65 was used as the cut-off point in this study, the sensitivity and specificity could reach to 92.3% and 100.0%. The absolute values of the differences (AVD) between the AHI of Watch PAT and the AHI of PSG were also calculated as a criterion for grouping the 35 patients studied, then it could be found that there was a trend that the BMI of patients who had an AVD ≥ 5 were higher than that of patients who had an AVD < 5 (P = 0.077).
CONCLUSIONSThe Watch PAT is highly sensitive in the diagnosis of OSAHS, it can be used as a simple and reliable method for screening people with suspicious OSAHS. However, the accuracy of diagnosis may be relatively low in patients who have a great BMI.

AIMTo investigate the protective effects of shark hepatic stimulator substance (sHSS) against acute hepatic injury induced by acetaminophen (AAP) in mice.
METHODSAcute hepatic injury model of Balb/c mice was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of AAP (200 mg.kg-1, i.p.). Serum ALT and AST activities were analyzed. The changes of microstructure and ultrastructure of hepatocyte were observed under optical and electronic microscope. The hepatocyte apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometer and the expression level of Fas mRNA was determined by RT-PCR.
RESULTSThe activities of serum ALT and AST were significantly decreased and both necrosis and inflammatory infiltration were improved in the mice treated with sHSS 3.0 and 1.5 mg.kg-1. sHSS (3.0 mg.kg-1) prevented the ultrastructural changes of hepatocytes caused by AAP, decreased the percentage of apoptotic cells, and downregulated the expression level of Fas mRNA.
CONCLUSIONsHSS protected hepatocytes from AAP-induced injury, which might be associated with its protection of the mitochondria and inhibition of apoptosis and expression of Fas mRNA in hepatocytes.

Objective:
To explore the association between chronic hepatitis B virus infection and diabetes among adults.
Methods:
The baseline data of China Kadoorie Biobank ( CKB ) study from Tongxiang of Zhejiang Province was used for analysis. Community residents were investigated in the study from August 2004 to May 2008, including questionnaire survey, physical measurement and biological sample test. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to estimate the association of chronic hepatitis B virus infection with diabetes.
Results:
Totally 52 888 participants were included in the final analysis. The overall prevalence of HBsAg-positive was 3.55% ( N=1 877 ). The overall prevalence of diabetes was 5.17% ( N=2 733 ). The prevalence of HBsAg-positive in diabetic patients was 3.51% ( N=96 ). Both univariate and multivariate logistic regression models indicated that there was no association between chronic hepatitis B virus infection and diabetes( P>0.05 ).
Conclusion
No significant association has been found between chronic hepatitis B virus infection and diabetes among adults.

Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of age distribution of measles and related policies on measles vaccines (live; MV) in infants through analyzing the antibody levels of comparison in maternal-infant pairs. Transition of immunity in infants was also studied to provide theoretic basis for measles immunization strategy and to reduce the incidence of month-old infants. Methods In cities of Ningbo, Harbin, and Jinan from Zhejiang, Heilongiiang and Shandong provinces, data was collected from 2004 to 2007 and analyzed regarding the epidemic situation of measles. Studies on maternal-transferred measles antibody were carried our sero-epidemiologically. Results Most of the measles cases were found among babies younger than 12 months, and the incidence of < 1 year olds had been increasing. The distribution was dominated by 5-8 month olds in infant measles cases. The positive rate and GRMT of measles antibody in newborns were 89.3 percent and 738.93. The positive rate of the measles antibody and GMRT of the 6-month infant were 6.9 % and 6.89, while 6.7 % and 3.69 in 8-month infant. There wasa declining trend of the positive rate of the measles antibody during the newborns to 8-month infant. The positive rate and GRMT of measles antibody in mothers were 84.3 percent and 516.94. Mother's measles antibodies mainly to be at low and moderate level, which accounted for 50.4 percent and 30.3 percent respectively, the correlation coefficient between mother and infant was 0. 840. Conclusion Maternal-transferred measles antibody decreased as the growth of infants. The positive rates of measles antibody were quite low in 6-month and 8-month olds which were the age range that needs most attention.

Small ubiquitin-related modifier(SUMOylation)is a dynamic post-translational modification that maintains cardiac function and can protect against a hypertrophic response to cardiac pressure overload. However, the function of SUMOylation after myocardial infarction(MI)and the molecular details of heart cell responses to SUMO1 deficiency have not been determined. In this study,we demonstrated that SUMO1 protein was inconsistently abundant in different cell types and heart regions after MI.However,SUMO1 knockout significantly exacerbated systolic dysfunction and infarct size after myocardial injury.Single-nucleus RNA sequencing revealed the differential role of SUMO1 in regulating heart cells.Among cardiomyocytes,SUMO1 deletion increased the Nppa+Nppb+Ankrd1+cardiomyocyte subcluster pro-portion after MI.In addition, the conversion of fibroblasts to myofibroblasts subclusters was inhibited in SUMO1 knockout mice.Importantly,SUMO1 loss promoted proliferation of endothelial cell subsets with the ability to reconstitute neovascularization and expressed angiogenesis-related genes.Computational analysis of ligand/receptor interactions suggested putative pathways that mediate cardiomyocytes to endothelial cell communication in the myocardium.Mice preinjected with cardiomyocyte-specific AAV-SUMO1,but not the endothelial cell-specific form, and exhibited ameliorated cardiac remodeling following MI.Collectively, our results identified the role of SUMO1 in cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells after Ml.These findings provide new insights into SUMO1 involvement in the patho-genesis of MI and reveal novel therapeutic targets.

Enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection is more likely to cause hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in children, which can lead to neurogenic complications and higher mortality. As a commonly used clinical medicine, Reduning injection (RDN) helps to shorten the symptoms of patients with HFMD and facilitate the early recovery of children. However, the regulatory mechanism of RDN on the HFMD immune system disorder caused by EV71 remains to be discussed. This study collected detailed treatment data of 56 children with HFMD who entered the affiliated Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University during 2019. Retrospective analysis of clinical data showed that the symptoms of the RDN treatment group were improved compared with the untreated group. To explore its mechanism, the relevant detection indicators were detected by flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and real-time quantitative PCR. It was found that the number and function of innate immune (ILCs) and adaptive immunity (Th1, Th2 and secreted cytokines) were reduced, suggesting that RDN plays a role by regulating cellular immunity. The in vitro differentiation inhibition test further confirmed that RDN affected Th1 differentiation by inhibiting the expression of transcription factors on the basis of Th1 cell differentiation in vitro.
