1.Impact injuries of pedestrians: 90 cases study.
Journal of Forensic Medicine 2014;30(5):350-354
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the relationship between pedestrian traffic accidents and the type of vehicles and summarize the characteristics.
METHODS:
Ninety cases of pedestrian traffic accidents were reviewed, and the relationship between the types of vehicles and the injuries (site, feature and severity) were analyzed.
RESULTS:
Different impact injuries were caused by different types of vehicles. The primary sites of the impact injuries depended on the body posture and the height of protruding parts of the front when the accident happened. The injury characteristics were related to the size, direction of acting force and contact surface.
CONCLUSION
The analysis of position, feature, and severity of pedestrian injury can determine the type of injury vehicle.

Objective This study has explored the role of antibody against annexin A2 in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Using purified recombinant annexin A2, IgG anti-annexin A2 antibody was measured by ELISA in 101 APS patients, 41 SLE patients with thrombosis, 124 SLE patients without thrombosis and 120 healthy controls. Results The positive rate of IgG anti-annexin A2 antibody in APS patients and SLE patients with thrombosis was 21.8%, 26.8%, respectively, they were all significantly higher than in SLE patients without thrombosis (6.5%). IgG anti-annexin A2 antibody was associated with thrombosis and/or pregnancy morbidity (P<0.01). Conclusion Anti-annexin A2 antibody is associated with thrombosis and/or pregnancy mnrbidity. It suggests that anti-annexin A2 antibody may be helpful in identifying in some potential AIRS.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the inhibiting effect of Pingyangmycin on cultured vein endothelial cells in vitro and illustrate the mechanism of Pingyangmycin on treatment cavernous hemangioma of head and neck. METHODS By MTT assay, the inhibiting rates of cultured Ecv-304 cells which were managed with Pingyangmycin for 24h and 48h were compared respectively. The changes in the cell cycle, apoptosis, and Caspase 3 protein expression of the cells managed with Pingyangcin for 24h were examined by flow cytometry(FCM). RESULTS The results showed that the inhibiting rate of Ecv-304 was dependent on the concentration of Pingyangmycin. However,in the same concentration, the inhibiting effect for 24h was stronger than that for 48h. The percentage of G1 phase cells increased while the S phase decreased, but the percentage of G2 phase cells remained unchanged after managed with Pingyangcin for 24h. An apoptosis peak appeared before G1 phase. The apoptosis rate was also concentration-dependant. The expression of caspase 3 increased in every group of different concentration. CONCLUSION Pingyangmycin can possibly arrest the growth of Ecv-304 in the G1 phase through the mechanism of inducing apoptosis. Caspase 3 may play an important role in the induced apoptosis.

Mycoepoxydiene is a novel antitumor agent extracted from marine lignicolous fungi HLY-2, which is Diaporthe phaseolorum by molecule identification. The medium optimization for mycoepoxydiene by orthogonal design and the comparison of submerged fermentation and solid state fermentation were studied. The rusult is that the maximal yield of the compound is 543mg/L, which is 43 times compared to the customary half-seawater PD medium and 15 times to the best submerged condition. This optimum culture medium included potato 250g/L, seawater 300mL/L, glucose 30g/L, lactose 50g/L, KH_ 2 PO_ 4 0.65mmol/L and (NH_ 4 )_ 2 SO_ 4 1g/L in the solid state condition. Differentiation analysis between submerged and solid state fermentation, and antitumor activity of these ferment products were also studied. The antitumor activity of products of the optimum medium approached the pure compound.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of glomerular microthrombosis in lupus nephritis (LN) and the significance of antibodies to anti-coagulation related factors and anti-phospholipid antibodies in glomerular microthrombosis (GMT).Methods Kidney biopsy specimens and plasma samples were obtained consecutively from 124 patients with LN. Kidney biopsy specimens were examined for the presence of glomerular microthrombi.Plasma samples from 25 LN patients with GMT (LN-GMT group) and 99 LN patients without GMT (LN-non-GMT group) were tested for lupus anticoagnlant (LA) and antibodies to cardiolipin (ACL),β2 glycoprotein I (β2GP I ),plasmin, thrombin, tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) and Annexin A II.Results The prevalence of GMT in LN patients was about 20.2%.Compared to LN-non-GMT group,LN-GMT group had elevated SLE disease activity indices (SLEDAI),elevated activity and chronicity indices of kidney tissue injury, and elevated serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and proteinuria levels, and also had a higher frequency of hypertension (P<0.01).The positive rates of LA,IgG class anti-β2GP I and anti-thrombin antibodies were higher in LN-GMT group than in LN-non-GMT group (P<0.05).The positive rates of IgG class antibodies to ACL,plasmin,t-PA and Annexin A II in LN-GMT group were not statistically different from those in LN-non-GMT group (P>0.05).No difference was found in the positive rate of any IgM class antibody between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion This study has shown that GMT occurs approximately in 20.2% of the LN patients.Patients with GMT have more severe kidney tissue injury and more poor renal outcomes than patients without GMT.LA and antibodies to β2GP I and thrombin play a role in glomerular microthrombosis in lupus nephritis.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2017;37(1):51-56
The purpose of the experiment was to study the efficacy of edaravone in enhancing flap viability after ischemia/reperfusion (IR) and its mechanism.Forty-eight adult male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:control group (n=16),IR group (n=16),and edaravone-treated IR group (n=16).An island flap at left lower abdomen (6.0 cm×3.0 cm in size),fed by the superficial epigastric artery and vein, was created in each rat of all the three groups. The arterial blood flow of flaps in IR group and edaravone-treated IR group was blocked for 10 h,and then the blood perfusion was restored. From 15 min before reperfusion, rats in the edaravone-treated IR group were intraperitoneally injected with edaravone (10 mg/kg),once every 12 h,for 3 days.Rats in the IR group and control group were intraperitoneally injected with saline, with the same method and frequency as the rats in the edaravone-treated IR group. In IR group and edaravone-treated IR group, samples of flaps were harvested after reperfusion of the flaps for 24 h.In the control group, samples of flaps were harvested 34 h after creation of the flaps. The content of malondialdehyde (MDA) and activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) were determined, and changes in organizational structure and infiltration of inflammatory cells were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, apoptotic cells of vascular wall were marked by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay, and the apoptotic rate of cells in vascular wall was calculated. The ultrastructural changes of vascular endothelial cells were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).Seven days after the operation,we calculated the flap viability of each group, and marked vessels of flaps by immunohistochemical staining for calculating the average number of subcutaneous vessels. The results showed that the content of MDA,the number ofmulticore inflammatory cells and apoptotic rate of cells in vascular wall in the edaravone-treated IR group were significantly lower than those in the IR group. The activity of SOD,flap viability and average number of subcutaneous vessels in the edaravone-treated IR group were significantly higher than those in the IR group. All the differences were statistically significant. The ultrastructure injury of vascular endothelial cells in the edaravone-treated IR group was slighter than that in IR group. It was concluded that edaravone can significantly enhance IR flap viability and protect flap vessels, which is related to scavenging oxygen free radicals, reducing the consumption of SOD,reducing the extent of lipid peroxidation and inflammation, and protecting functional structure of vessels in the early stages of reperfusion.
