1.Bone-marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells responsible for postnatal vasculogenesis in physiological and pathological neovascularization
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1999;0(09):-
Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) exist in bone marrow, umbilical cord blood and peripheral blood of adult mammals, including humans. Furthermore, the discovery of EPCs has led to the notion of adult vasculogenesis, in which bone marrow (BM)-derived EPCs home to and incorporate into sites of new blood vessel formation, where they differentiate into endothelial cells, which is consistent with postnatal vasculogenesis. It has become apparent that circulating BM-derived EPCs are involved in promoting physiologic and pathologic neovascularization, such as wound healing and tumor growth. They are of great clinical importance in pro- or anti-angiogenic therapies. [

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between syndrome differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and characteristic changes of vascular endothelial function in patients with diabetic arterial occlusion (DAO) of lower extremities. METHODS: Forty patients with DAO were selected as trial group. Twenty patients among them were attributed to blood stasis syndrome (group A1), and the others were attributed to syndrome of pathogenic dampness-heat attacking the lower limb (group A2) according to syndrome differentiation type of TCM. Patients with diabetes (group B), arteriosclerosis obliterans (group C) and healthy people (group D) were observed as the control groups, respectively. There were 20 cases in each group. Endothelium-dependent dilation (EDD) and endothelium-independent dilation (EID) were measured by high resolution ultrasound in the 100 subjects and the changes of vascular tension factors were also studied. RESULTS: The results showed that EDD in group A was reduced significantly as compared with that in the groups B, C and D. The levels of vascular contractile factors such as endothelin-1 (ET-1) and thromboxane B2 (TXB2) in group A were higher than those in the groups B, C and D, while the levels of vascular dilatory factors such as nitric oxide (NO) and 6-keto-prostaglandin F1alpha(6-Keto-PGF1alpha) were declined significantly as compared with those in the groups B and D. Linear correlation analysis showed that EDD was correlated positively with the levels of NO and 6-Keto-PGF1alpha, while the levels of ET-1 and TXB2 had negative correlation with EDD. EDD and EID in group A2 were declined significantly as compared with those in group A1. CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that endothelial dysfunction may play an important role in the pathogenesis of DAO and may be associated with syndrome differentiation of TCM.

0.5).The above results show that feeding regime has significant influence on Zn nutriture but not on Cu nutriture. The Zn nutriture of breast-fed infants is superior to that of bottle-fed infants due to better bioavaila-bility of Zn in human milk. The Cu nutriture in early infancy may depend mainly on the fetal storage of Cu in tissues and its mobilization afterbirth.

Objective To investigate whether the partially C-terminal deletion of NR2A subunit alters the surface expression and channel function of NMDA receptors in both HEK293 cells and cultured hippocampal neurons of rats. Methods Four plasmids for NR2A mutants with N-terminally GFP-tagged and C-terminal deletion NR2A?C1(?897L-1017S),NR2A?C2(?1024D-1142P),NR2A?C3(?1149D-1347G),and NR2A?C4(?1354S-1464V) were generated, and transfected into HEK293 cells and hippocampal neurons in culture.Surface staining was performed using anti-GFP antibody and Cy3 conjugated secondary antibody.Glutamate evoked currents were also detected using whole-cell recording. Results Positive surface staining was found for all the HEK293 cell co-transfected NR1-1a/NR2A?C1,NR1-1a/NR2A?C2,NR1-1a/NR2A?C3 or NR1-1a/NR2A?C4,and quantitative analysis showed no significant decrease in surface expression level when compared to that from NR1-1a/NR2A transfection.Glutamate-evoked currents were recorded in HEK293 cells co-transfected with NR1-1a/NR2A?C2 or NR1-1a/NR2A?C4.Surface expression level of NMDA receptor clusters on dendrites was significantly decreased in the neurons transfected with NR2A?C1,NR2A?C2 or NR2A?C3 than in those transfected with NR2A.Conclusion C-terminal deletion of NR2A subunit differentially effects surface expression of NMDA receptors in HEK293 cells and in hippocampal neurons in culture.

Objective To research a pure capacitance sensor for acquisition of cardiac phonocardiogram. Methods Under the phantom power supply (48V), the faint vibration signal of the heart was processed into electric signal by larger pre - treatment circuit module, shielded cable and the sensor pre-amplifier of circuit module. Results With some experiments, it can be proved that the sensor won't have affect on the sound field which frequency band under 1 000Hz and can detect the level of sound field like 20dB:30dB and 150dB or higher. Conclusion So with the sensor, the precise signal which can exactly reflect the status of patients' hearts can be detected, and it suits to work in complex condition for its high sensitivity, wide frequency band and low distortion.

Objective To explore the effect of nursing intervention on the hyponatremia after cervical spinal cord injury. Methods 60 patients with the hyponatremia after cervical spinal cord injury were divided into a control group (n=30) and a nursing intervention group (n=30). The control group was just given a general treatment on hyponatremia, while the nursing intervention group was given a systematic nursing intervention of hyponatremia by the duty nurse concerned. The serum sodium value and the course of disease of the two groups were both analyzed a month after nursing intervention. Results Compared with the control group, the value of serum sodium in the nursing intervention group got a significant rise with a shorter course and a less relapsed cases (P<0.01). Conclusion Nursing intervention may improve the hyponatremia after cervical spinal cord injury.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2008;10(9):1179-1182
Objective To investigate the role of Catbindin-D28k in the kidney on calcium metabolism. Methods VDR/CaBP-D28k double knockout(KO)mice was made.Body weight, diet intake and serum, urinary parameters and length, density of the long bones, histological staining of the tibia of WT,CaBP-D28(-/-),VDR(-/-)and VDR(-/-)/CaBP-D28k(-/-)mice were determined on regular and high Ca-Lac diet. Results On a regular diet, the double KO mice were growth-retarded more and smaller than VDR KO mice.Compared with VDR KO mice, the double KO mice had higher urinary calcium excretion and rachitic skeletal phenotype, which were manifested with higher serum parathyroid hormone levels, lower bone mineral density, and more distorted growth plate with mole osteoid formation in the trabecular region. On high calcium and high lactose diet,blood-ionized calcium levels were normal in both VDR KO and the double KO mice. However,in contrast to VDR KO mice, the skeletal abnormalities were not completely corrected in the double KO mice. Conclusion These results directly demonstrate that CaBP-D28k plays a critical role in maintaining calcium homeostasis and skeletal mineralization and suggest that its caleemic role can be mostly compensated by CaBP-D9k.
