Objectives To assess the clinical value of ultrasonography (US) and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) in analyzing abdominal fat contents of obese children and adolescents through comparison with MRI. A correlation with other obese related metabolic parameters was conducted. Methods Ninety 7-17-y-old obese children and adolescents (60 boys and 30 girls with mean age of 9.6 ± 2.9 y and mean BMI of 24.5 ± 4.5 kg/m2) were recruited. Metabolic parameters were measured, and insulin resistance was estimated according to homeostasis model assess-ment (HOMA-IR). On the same day abdomen subcutaneous fat thickness (SFTUS) was measured by US. Body fat mass (FMBIA) and abdominal visceral fat area (VFABIA) were analyzed by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). After obtaining informed consent, abdominal MRI was performed in 20 subjects. Each section of umbilicus level was analyzed by image threshold value segmentation using SigmaScan Pro 5 and abdominal subcutaneous fat area (SFAMRI) and visceral fat area (VFAMRI) were calculated. Results (1) A strong positive association was found between SFTUS and SFAMRI (P< 0.05), VFABIA and VFAMRI (P < 0.01) respectively. (2) FMBIA and SFAMRI, VFAMRI, SFTUS also showed significant correlations (P < 0.05). (3) VFAMRI showed extremely significant positive correlations with TG, Insulin,C-peptide and HOMA-IR (P < 0.01 ) ; SFAMRI was also correlated positively with them (P < 0.05). (4) SFTUS was correlated positively with UA (uric acid), Insulin, 2HIns (insulin measured at 2 hours after meal), C-peptide,2HC-peptide (C-peptide measured at 2 hours after meal) and HOMA-IR (P < 0.01). (5) VFABIA was correlated significant positively with UA, insulin, TG, 2HIns and HOMA-IR. FMBIA showed positive correlation with UA, Insulin,2HIns, C-peptide, 2HC-peptide and HOMA-IR. Conclusions abdominal subcutaneous and visceral fat of obese children and adolescents evaluated by US and BIA are correlated well with those assessed by MRI, and also correlated well with TG, insulin, C-peptide and other metabolic biochemical parameters. Our data support the value of using cost effective, simple and convenient methods such as BIA and US to evaluate the obese and related metabolic risk of children and adolescents in clinical practice.

Objective: To construct eukaryotic expression vector of tumor-associated gene SNC90 and transfect it into human colorectal cancer cell lines. Methods: A 1.5 kb tumor-associate gene SNC90 full length cDNA was inserted into a mammalian expression vector pREP9 to make recombinant vector pREP9-SNC90, which was then introduced into three kinds of colorectal cancer cell lines, SW1116, COL0205 and SW620, by lipofection or electroporation. The cells resistant to G418 drug were selected. Results: Cells transfected with pREP9-SNC90 showed fewer G418-resistant colonies than those transfected with void vector, the inhibitory rates are 72.2%, 74.2% and 59.7%, respectively. Conclusion : SNC90 may play a negative role in regulating growth of colorectal cancer cell.

Objective To assess the prognostic value of tissue Doppler imaging(TDI) parameters in aeute myocardial infarction(AMI) patients. Methods After one week of AMI,102 patients underwent twodimensional/Doppler echocardiography and TDI examination.Early and late transmitral flow velocity E,A,deceleration time(DT)were measured. The average velocity of mitral valve at septal and lateral weremeasured including the systolic velocity(Sm),early diastolic velocity(Em)and late diastolic velocity(Am),Em/Am,E/Em were calculated. After 1 year follow up,the patients were divided into two groups according to whether hospitalizated due to heart failure(HF)or not. Stepwise multivariate COX regression analysis was used to identify the predictors of the cardiac event. Results In patients with H F,Sm,Em were lower than those of no HF group(P<0.05),E,E/Em were higher than those of no HF group(P<0.05 and0.01 respectively). Stepwise multivariate COX analysis identified that the E/Em was the only independent predictors of HF.E/Em≥12 was a useful HF predictors with a sensitivity of 84.2%,specificity of 77.1%.Conclusions E/Em ratio may assist in the risk stratification in AMI,and is a powerful predictor of HF.

Objective To study the effects of use of cyclamic acid on monitoring D-Dimer and predicting deep venous thrombosis on lower limbs during total hip arthroplasty. Methods Ninety-three cases patients who received total hip arthroplasty operations at Joint Surgery Department of the Central Hospital of Zhuzhou city and Zhuzhou Hospital Affiliated to Xiangya Medical College of Central South University from December 2015 to May 2016 were selected as subjects and randomly assigned into study group with 50 cases and control group with 43 cases.During the operations, cyclamic acid was used intravenously and locally as a routine in the study group while saline was utilized instead in the control group. The D-Dimer was dynamically monitored before operation and 1,3,5,7,9 d after the operation, and venous color ultrasonography of both lower limbs were taken 3,6,9 d after the operation to check the conformation of thrombosis. Results The total blood loss after treatment in the study group was (350.5 ± 65.2) ml,intraoperative blood loss of (129.3 ± 43.1) ml,postoperative drainage volume of (80.9± 12.6) ml,occult blood loss of (141.9± 20.6) ml,corresponding to the control group were (560.8±60.6) ml,(208.9± 57.8) ml,(150.8 ± 18.9) ml,(202.9±23.9) ml.The above indicators were lower in the study group than in the control group, the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(t =16.02,7.59,21.24,13.22,P<0.05).There were significant differences in terms of D2-dimer level of 1,3,5 d after the operation between the study group and the control group (P<0.05),but at 7,9 d after the operation, the difference between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The study group and the control group at 9 d after operation with color Doppler ultrasound examination showed that there were 1 cases of patients with calf vein thrombosis both in two groups, there was no significant difference between the two groups(2.00% vs.2.32%,x2 =0.012,P> 0.05).Conclusion The proper use of cyclamic acid can reduce blood loss and will not increase the risk of thrombosis.Monitoring dynamically on D-Dimer and deep venous color ultrasonography on lower limbs is helpful for early detection of thrombosis after total hip arthroplasty. However, the use of cyclamic acid during total hip arthroplasty will affect the monitoring on D-Dimer and therefore needs to be taken seriously.

Objective To measure vitamin D levels in newborn cord blood inorder to ascertain appropriate supplementation regimes. Methods A total of 6420 newborn umbilical cordblood 25-hydroxyvitamin D [ 25-( OH ) D ] concentrations were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and the correlation between 25-( OH ) D and gestational or birth weight or season was retrospectively analyzed. Results There were 5358(83.5℅)of the 6420,had umbilical cord blood concentrations of 25-(OH)D <50. 0 nmol/L. The 25-(OH)D levels M(Q1,Q3)increased from very preterm births, moderately preterm, later preterm, full-term infants to post-term infants [ 29. 0 ( 22. 5, 38.9),33.4(26.3,41.6),35.1(26.9,43.3),35.7(28.1,45.0),43.3(33.5,52.8)nmol/L, P <0. 001]. The 25-(OH) D levels M(Q1,Q3) increased from very low birth weight infants, low birth weight, normal birth weight infants to macrosomia [29. 0(22. 4,38. 8),34. 6(27. 5,44. 2),35. 1(28. 1, 44. 7),35. 7(28. 0,47. 5), P<0. 001]. The 25- (OH)D levels were positively correlated respectively in gestational ages and body weights ( r =0. 619 , 0. 180 , P <0. 05 ) . Newborn umbilical cord blood concentration of 25- ( OH ) D levels varied with season ( P all <0. 001 ) , the lowest in spring [ 30. 4 (24.1,38.3)]and highest in autumn[39.3(31.6,50.9)].Conclusions Premature and low birth weight infants are especially at high risk of vitamin D deficiency and should receive appropriate vitamin D supplementation. In addition, there should be an ongoing promotion of vitamin D supplements to pregnant women and the awareness of sun exposure to achieve vitamin D sufficiency.
