Objective To evaluate the preoperative diagnosis of ureteral carcinoma. Methods The clinical features and selection of imaging and endoscope in 32 ureteral carcinoma patients were analyzed. Results The common symptom was hematuria.32 cases were confirmed by pathological examination as ureteral carcinoma and the diagnostic corresponding rate was 100% by color doppler and endoscopic technique. Conclusion Imaging and endoscopic examination are very important in hematuria patients without unknown reasons.Ureteral carcinoma should be considered when B mode ultrasound and venous urography show hydronephrosis and no development.Retrograde ureteropyelography and ureteroscopy are the most important diagnostic methods among various examinations.

Clinical medical workers should understand the pathology, and the cultivation of the clinical pathological quality needs to start from the undergraduate course of medical students. In the past 6 years, based on the platform of undergraduate pathology science and technology innovation, and histology research platform of Department of Pathology, and through the creation of the clinical pathology elective courses and other forms, the researchers have given medical undergraduates the systematical and standardized training of the concept, knowledge, skills and application of pathology to develop their clinical and pathological quality during basic courses, professional courses and internship stage of a medical undergraduate.Practice shows that the relevant teaching measures enable students to fully understand the importance of clinical pathology, and improve their ability to apply clinical and pathological knowledge to solve clinical problems.

Objective To investigate the effects of the compound T0 extracted from Tripterygium wilfordii, a traditional Chinese herb, in comparison with those of cyclosporin A(CyA), on down- regulating the expression and activities of IL- 1 and IL- 2. Methods The cellular reactive systems of peritoneal macrophage (rat)- thymocytes (rat), and spleen cells (rat)- CTLL- 2 (mouse) were set up. The technique of 3H- TdR incorporation was applied. Results The production of IL- 1 and IL- 2 were significantly inhibited by T0 and CyA. The activities of IL- 1 and IL- 2 were down- regulated by T0,rather than by CyA. Conclusion T0 and CyA are potent inhibitors of the production of IL- 1 and IL- 2. Effects of T0 on the activities of IL- 1 and IL- 2 are different from those of CyA.

Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 1996;0(12):-
In light of the medical safety control standards for general hospital appraisal in Zhejiang and the principles followed in designing the standards, the authors put forward some suggestions for medical institutions to improve their medical safety control. ①Medical safety occupies a key position in hospital appraisal standards. Some points are presented for discussion with regard to the criteria for malpractice-caused deduction of marks. ②The focal point of medical safety control lies in prevention. Medical institutions and their staff ought to have a correct understanding of malpractice and try to remove hidden dangers. The directive function of plans for preventing and handling malpractice ought to be brought into full play. In addition, nationally uniform and comprehensive criteria and routines for diagnostic, treatment and nursing procedures ought to be set up speedily. ③ It is imperative to make use of advanced means so as to ensure the smooth, timely and efficient reporting and feedback of medical safety information. ④The idea of service ought to be reinforced and a risk assessment mechanism ought to be set up.

Objective To investigate the possible influence of Lewis B expression in Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) on bacterial adhesion property, and determine the relationship between babA 2 gene in H.pylori and peptic ulcer. Methods The bacterial adhesion property in a total of 78 H.pylori strains was performed using adherence assay in vitro, and the frequency of babA 2 gene was determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results Among 47 H.pylori strains isolated from peptic ulcer patients, 18 (38.3%) were positive for babA 2 gene, while babA 2 was positive in 14 (45.2%) of 31 strains isolated from non ulcer dyspepsia patients ( P =0.427). Among 31 H.pylori strains expressing Lewis B, 24 (77.4%) were positive for adherence assay, compared with 38 (80.9%) of 47 H.pylori strains without expression of Lewis B ( P =0.463). Conclusions (1) There is no association between babA 2 status in H.pylori strain and peptic ulcer in our population; (2) The expression of Lewis B in H.pylori does not interfere with bacterial adhesion property, and thus supports that the gastric epithelium is the receptor for Lewis B of H.pylori.

Objectives:To study the mechanical properties of human dentin obtained from vital and pulpless teeth. Methods:Dentin specimens were obtained from 20 freshly extracted normal vital human teeth and 9 endodontically treated human pulpless teeth. The dentin was grinded to be rectangular specimens along to the longitudinal axes of the teeth. All the specimens were immerged in 9 g/L sodium chloride solution, their compressive mechanical properties were measured with displacement measurement method. All data obtained were analyzed with t tests. Results:The elastic moduli, proportional limits and compressive strengths of the dentin samples from vital teeth were (15.77? 1.52 ) GPa, (157.07?13.79) MPa and (257.67?10.23) MPa respectively. Those from pulpless teeth were (12.08?1.71) GPa, (144.30?9.76) MPa and (235.26?9.12) MPa respectively(P

ObjectiveTo evaluate the killing effects of MMC,5-Fu and TAM on human breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-435S). MethodsThe MTT method and median-effect principle were used. ResultsKilling effects of drugs were enhanced as drug concentration increased while they were used alone or in combination. The median-effect concentration of TAM in conjunction with MMC was 1.65?10 -5 mmol/L,and that of TAM in conjunction with 5-Fu was 0.032 6 mmol/L. MMC was synergetic with 5-Fu at high concentration(CI1). The ratios of drug concentration and the sequence of administration were not related with the killing effects. ConclusionsA combination of MMC, 5-Fu and TAM has an increased killing effect on MCF-7 cell lines and questionable enhanced effect on MDA-MB-435S cell lines.

Objective To explore the effects of lycopene on interleukin-6 (IL-6) expression and motor function after spinal cord injury in rats. Methods 36 healthy adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group (A), methylprednisolone sodium succinate (MP) treatment group (B) and lycopene treatment group (C) with 12 rats in each group, and spinal cord injury model at T9 was established with modified Allen's technique (10 g×25 mm). 30 minutes after modeling, group A received no treatment, group B was injected MP 30 mg/ kg, group C was given lycopene 20 mg/kg. They were tested with inclined plate test 1 day, 3 days and 7 days after injury. The expression of IL-6 was examined with immunohistochemistry, then. Results The inclined plate test scores were higher in the group C than in the group A 1 day and 7 days after injury (P<0.05), and in the group B than in the group A 1 day, 3 days and 7 days after injury (P<0.05). The expression of IL-6 was significantly lower in the groups B and C than in the group A 1 day, 3 days, 7 days after injury (P<0.001). Conclusion Lycopene can inhibit the expression of IL-6 in acute spinal cord injury to reduce the inflammation and facilitate the recovery of nerve and motor function.
