Journal of Chinese Physician 2001;0(04):-
Objective To present a moified technique of island flap (Duckett+Perovic's method)for repair of severe hypospadias. Methods Between January 1996 and May 2002,26 cases of severe hypospadias were repairs using Perovic's method in a lonely or using Duckett's method plus Perovic's method. In all patients,we employed island flaps in one stage.Suprapubic diversion was used for drainage, and 10F or 12F tube was inserted to the proximal end of new urethra.Ceftriaxone was used after the operation on all of patients for one week.Urethral tubes were removed at 6 or 8 days postoperation and the suprapubic tubes at 10 or 12 days postoperation. Results One stage healing was successfully achieved in 23 patients.Three patients suffered from fistula,of them were healed through re-operation at six months later. After the operation, normal function was recovered and perfect appearance was achieved. Conclusion The result of repair turned out to be satisfactory and we believe that the technique is a good alternative for severe hypospadias.

Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture therapy of regulating Yin and Yang for the treatment of stroke, and to investigate the influence on plasma levels of calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) and vascular endothelin(ET).Methods One hundred and twenty stroke patients were equally randomized into 3 groups: group A received acupuncture therapy of regulating Yin and Yang, group B received traditional body acupuncture therapy, and group C received scalp acupuncture therapy. One and a half months constituted one treatment course, and the treatment lasted 2 courses. The therapeutic effect was evaluated and the changes of plasma CGRP and ET levels were observed. Results The total effective rate was 95.0% in group A,85.0% in group B,and 82.5% in group C,the difference being significant between the three groups(P0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture therapy of regulating Yin and Yang exerts a certain effect for the treatment of stroke, and can up-regulate plasma CGRP level and decrease ET level.

Objective To investigate the situation and distribution of human parvovirus B19(HPV B19) infection in volunteer blood donors in Guangzhou. Methods Blood samples from volunteer blood donors were tested for HPV B19 IgG and IgM antibody by ELISA.Real-time PCR assay was applied to detect HPV B19 DNA of HPV B19 IgG and /or IgM antibody positive specimens. Results The prevalence of HPV B19 IgG and IgM antibodies were 38.6%(679/1760) and 1.9%(33/1760) respectively, among volunteer blood donors, and there was significant difference between them((P

Objective To preliminarily explore the clinical significance of word recognition scores in evalua_ting the curative effects of sudden hearing loss .Methods Pure tone averages (PTA) and word recognition scores (WRS) in 11 cases of sudden hearing loss were obtained on the pre-treatment day and the post -treatment day , and the results were compared .ResuIts The average PTA of 11 cases was 62 .27 ± 15 .36 dB HL on the pre-treat_ment day ,and 60 .23 ± 14 .32 dB HL on the post -treatment day .The average WRS in 11 cases was 42 .91% ± 30 .83% on the pre-treatment day ,and 72 .73% ± 26 .72% on the post-treatment day .There were no significant differences in PTA and the intensity of the sound for testing WRS before and after treatment(P> 0 .05) ,and the difference of the WRS between the pre -treatment and the post -treatment day was statistically significant(P<0 .05) .ConcIusion The WRS could be used in evaluating the curative effect of sudden hearing loss ,which is a sup_plement for PTA .

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2000;0(06):-
Objectives:To study the mechanical properties of human dentin obtained from vital and pulpless teeth. Methods:Dentin specimens were obtained from 20 freshly extracted normal vital human teeth and 9 endodontically treated human pulpless teeth. The dentin was grinded to be rectangular specimens along to the longitudinal axes of the teeth. All the specimens were immerged in 9 g/L sodium chloride solution, their compressive mechanical properties were measured with displacement measurement method. All data obtained were analyzed with t tests. Results:The elastic moduli, proportional limits and compressive strengths of the dentin samples from vital teeth were (15.77? 1.52 ) GPa, (157.07?13.79) MPa and (257.67?10.23) MPa respectively. Those from pulpless teeth were (12.08?1.71) GPa, (144.30?9.76) MPa and (235.26?9.12) MPa respectively(P

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(03):-
It is traditionally thought that interleukins are produced by immunocytes. However, abundant evidence indicates that neuron and neuroglia also produce and excrete interleukins. Brain derived interleukins have reciprocal action with multiple neurotransmitters, and influence animal's behavior, learning and memory. Moreover, brain derived interleukins are involved in Alzheimers disease, depression and so on. Further investigation on brain derived interleukins may improve in understanding the pathophysiology of some related diseases.

Objective To investigate the effect of flavopiridol on the proliferation, invasiveness and apoptosis of human prostate cancer cell line LNCaP,and to explore the possibility of its application in clinical treatment. Methods MTT assay was used to detect cell proliferation, cell invasion in vitro was detected by Transwell assay, and flow cytometer was used to observe apoptosis. Results Flavopiridol inhibited the growth of LNCaP cells in a concentration-dependent and time-dependent way (P < 0.05),and reduced the ability of invasion capacity. After treated by 10 nmol/L flavopiridol for 24 h,the apoptosis rate was increased significantly to (7.5±0.9) % compared with the control group [(5.3±0.5) %] (P < 0.05).Conclusion Flavopiridol can inhibit proliferation of LNCaP cells and induce apoptosis, which may be applicable for the treatment of prostate cancer.

OBJECTIVE:To study inhibitory effects of propofol on PC12 cells injury induced by glutamic acid via mitogen-acti-vated protein kinase/extra-cellular regulated kinase (MAPK/ERK) signal pathway. METHODS:PC12 cells were randomized into normal control group, model group(10 mmol/L glutamic acid),propofol low-concentrations,medium-concentrations and high-con-centrations groups(12.5,25,50 μmol/L+10 mmol/L glutamic acid). The optical density of cells, cell apoptosis, the phosphoryla-tion of ERK1/2 and the expression of c-fos,Bax,Bcl-2 were detected after treated with relevant medicine for 48 h. RESULTS:Compared with normal control group, optical density of cells, the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and Bcl-2 decreased in model group (P<0.01);apoptotic rate, the expression of c-fos and Bax increased (P<0.01). Compared with model group, optical density of cells, the expression of Bcl-2 and the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 increased in propofol group (P<0.01);apoptosis rate, the ex-pression of c-fos and Bax decreased (P<0.05 or P<0.01). There were statistical significant between the different concentrations (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:Propofol can inhibit the apoptosis of PC12 cells induced by glutamic acid, which is associated with the up-regulation of ERK1/2 phosphorylation.
