Objective To explore the construct validity of collectivism and individualism scale( COLINDEX) and the reliability and construct validity of its Chinese revision;and to study the development of middle school students' value. Methods The revised scale was used and 5875 middle school students were tested. Resuits Two-factor model of COLENDEX was not substantiated by data, while three factors were abstracted by EFA and confirmed subsequently by CFA. Four factors were abstracted from the Chinese revision of COLINDEX, and four-factor model was confirmed. The Cronbach's alpha coefficients of the total scale (0.90) and four sub-scales (0.84,0.76,0.84 and 0.74 )were all significantly high. MANOVA was performed to detect gender and grade differences of means in the four dimensions of the revised scale. The main effects of gender and grade reached the significant level; however, interaction between them did not. Conclusion Collectivism and individualism, two dimensions of Chinese middle school students' value, were not mutually independent. The revised version of COLINDEX was qualified to be used in further research. The grades on collectivistic items of middle school students were higher than those on individualistic items.

Objective To explore a new method of establishing rat model of acute myocardial infarction by off ventilator support, spurt and repeated cryoinjury. Methods Sixty Wistar rats with male and female in half were randomized into three experimental groups according to cryoinjury time with 20 rats in each group:15-second group(cryoinjury for 5 s each time, three times in total),25-second group(5 s each time, five times in total)and 40-second group(5 s each time, eight times in total). The heart was exposed through a 1.0-to 1.5-cm left lateral thoracotomy.Cryoinjury of the LV free wall(LVFW)was performed by applying for 5 s a round copper probe of 6-mm in diameter immersed in liquid nitrogen for 5 min to reach-190 ℃,then the thoracic cavity was closed immediately. When the rats' breath restored, the cryoinjury of the LVFW in situ was repeatedly to ensure a transmural injury according to the protocol. The survival rate during operation and in 28 days after operation was observed. Also infarct size was observed by heart pathological section stained with Masson's trichrome on day 28 after operation. Results Infarct size in all three groups was larger than 20% signified by transmural injury, and completely myocardiolysis and distinct infarct boundary were observed. The survival rate was 16/20 in 15-second group,5/20 in 40-second group(P0.05 vs 15-second group and 40-second group). The infarct size in 40-second group was larger than the other two groups(standard deviation:10.564 4% vs 5.192 6%,6.496 0% in 15,25-second group, respectively)and its survival rate was lowest. The procedure of 25-second group was more complicated and had a tendency of higher death rate than that in 15-second group. Conclusion Using spurt, repeated ultra low temperature cryoinjury for 15 s may be an ideal method to establish the rat model of acute myocardial infarction.

Cardiac contractile dysfunction and arrhythmic genesis are resulted from disturbed intracellular Na+and Ca2+ handling under condition of oxidation stress. Stress-induced intracellular signaling regulated mechanisms in which many activated stress kinases, such as cAMP-dependent protein kinase A, protein kinase C , Ca/calmodulin-dependent pro-tein kinaseⅡand classical pathways, are known to be involved. However, it is becoming increasingly evident that reactive oxygen species may directly oxidize these kinases, Na+and Ca2+channel protein and transporters, which lead to changing of intracellular Na+and Ca2+accumulation, and to trigger of arrhythmias.

Objective To investigate the effects of chronic periodontitis on heart attack and stability of coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods Number of missed teeth was recorded and periodontal index evaluated in 266 patients with CAD, including 72 cases of acute mycocardial infarction (AMI sub-group), 91 cases of unstable angina pectoris (UAP sub-group) and 103 cases of stable angina pectoris (SAP sub- group ), and 266 healthy controls. Comparison was made between the both groups and between each sub-group and controls. Results Periodontal index in CAD group was higher than that in control group ( P 0.05). Conclusions Chronic periodontitis can affect heart attack and stability of CAD, which may be an independent risk factor for CAD.

Objective: To investigate the effects of epigallocatechingallate (EGCG) on lipid metabolism related gene and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression proifle by biochip technology, and to explore the possible relationship between the two elements.
Methods: HepG2 cell was cultured with EGCG at 25μmol/L for 24 hours, the total RNA was extracted and hybridized into the biochip of Human Transcriptome Array 2.0 for mRNA and lncRNA expression profile analysis. Bioinformatics technology was used to establish the possible relationship between lncRNA and the predicted target genes;the data obtained from biochip microarray was conifrmed by real time RT-PCR examination.
Results: The microarray revealed that EGCG treated HepG2 cell expressed 27 differential lipid metabolism genes and 11 of them involved in cholesterol metabolism. In addition, there 285 lncRNA expressions were up-or down-regulated. Bioinformatics technology indicated that the predicted target genes for lipid metabolism might be cis-or trans-regulated by lncRNA;the data from real-time RT-PCR was consistent with the data from biochip microarray.
Conclusion: Tea polyphenols improves lipid metabolism and lncRNA might be involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism related gene.
