OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of internal fixation with screw through femoral epiphyseal plate on growth in- hibition via an experimental study.

METHODSForty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups and 10 rabbits in each group. Epiphyseal plate was injured by penetrating of screws, and the size of damage area was controlled by changing the number of threads. Group A: blank group; group B: injury area accounted for 4% of the epiphyseal plate; group C: injury area accounted for 6%; group D: injury area accounted for 8%. The internal fixation was removed after 2 weeks, and the results were observed with X-ray film for 4 groups to judge the complications such as early closure of epiphyseal.

RESULTSIn each group, there were no statistical differences in the length of the femoral neck, the diameter of femoral neck, the diameter of the femoral head, and the epiphyseal plate closure time. The growth speed of the length and diameter of the femoral neck, as well as the diameter of femoral head, were quicker on the early phase, and the speed was slowest when the epiphyseal plate was being closed.

CONCLUSIONThe injury area of epiphyseal plate under 8% is safe for its growth. Because no evidences demonstrate the growth inhibition of epiphyseal plate, the screws can be used for rabbit epiphyseal plates.

Objective:This article is to study the quality of life and the situation of social support for the elderly in Weifang while analyzing the correlation between them.Methods:This study was undertaken among elderly aged over 60 followning the European five D health scale and Social Support Rating Scale.The results were analyzed statistically.Results:On the living quality of elderly in Weifang,the EQ-SD index was (0.78 ±0.12) and the EQ -VAS index was (76.42 ± 14.67).The result from each scale shows a tremendous health issue among the elderly in Weifang.On the other hand,the situation of social support for the elderly in Weifang appeared optimistic.Still,this situation can be improved in practical supports.Also,there was significant negative correlation between EQ-5D and SSRS (r =0.260,P ＜ 0.05).Results of multiple linear regression show that the subjective support and objective support may enter the regression equation.Conclusion:To conclude,the city of Weifang awaits improvements in aged care and social support for the elderly.Only by this chance the quahty of life of the elderly may be improved.

Aim Paclitaxel(PTX)has shown an effect against human cancer. However, serious drawbacks hamper PTX clinical use.Overcoming paclitaxel limi-tations is one of the best approaches to enhance water solubility.Methods In this study,water-soluble pa-clitaxel prodrug was prepared,folic acid-polyethylene glycol-glutamic-paclitaxel (FA-PEG-Glu-PTX ) com-posed of folic acid (FA,target),amino acids (Glu, linker),and polyethylene glycol(PEG)in order to im-prove the solubilization and stability. The chemical structure and physicochemical property of prodrug were measured by LC-MS,solubility,drug release rate to e-valuate the antitumor activity and cytotoxicity of FA-PEG-Glu-PTX.MTT assays were conducted on MDA-MB-231,MCF-7,A549 and HELF cell lines.FA-PEG-Glu-PTX prodrugs were labeled with 5 amino flu-orescence visible fluorescent dye (5 AF ) for fluores-cence microscopy.Results The successful conjugation of FA-PEG-Glu-PTX was confirmed by LC-MS,and had better water solubility,release rate curve.In vitro studies indicated that foliate receptor(FR-α)mediated uptake of PTX-conjugated multi-small molecules carri-ers induced highly targeting ability,and antitumor ac-tivity,as well as reduced side toxicity effects of PTX. Conclusion FA-PEG-Glu-PTX has a good antitumor activity.

Objective:To investigate the current status of social support and mental health among residents in Weifang and analyze the impact of social support on mental health,thus to provide reference for improving the mental health status of residents.Methods:A sample of 6174 residents in Weifang was investigated using Social Support Rate Scale (SSRS) and Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10).The data was analyzed statistically with Chi-square test,Kruskal-Wallis test and Multiple Logistic regression analysis.Results:About 0.3％ residents in Weifang reported low social support and 93 ％ residents showed good mental health.Gender,age,social support level and 3 dimensions of social support were associated with mental health respectively in the correlation analysis.In the multiple analyses,social support,subjective support,availability of support and mental health were positively correlated in the model of Good mental health and General mental health.Conclusion:The mental health status of residents in Weifang is not optimistic.The social support level has beneficial effect on mental health starus.Subjective support,objective support and the utilization of these supports imposes different degrees of inflnence on mental health status.

Objective:To understand cognition and satisfaction degree of mental health service among residents in Weifang,and provide reference for further development of mental health work.Methods:6174 residents were selected with random sampling method and a cognition survey was conducted using a self-designed questionnaire.Among them,553 residents were selected to investigate their satisfaction with mental health service.Results:The residents have unscientific cognition on mental health service,and they did not understand the delivery of community mental health services.Residents who have received mental health service were more satisfied with informed consent and patient privacy protection,and had low satisfaction with the clinic environment and the charge of inspection items.Conclusions:To improve residents' cognition and satisfaction of mental health service,we should further perfect the professional mental health institutions and personnel recruiting,and forcefully carry out mental health education.

AIM: To address whether the analysis of CD45~+CD86~+ cells isolated from para-aortic lymph nodes (PLNs) is valuable in assessment of the status of local immunity at the feto-maternal interface. METHODS: CBA/J?DBA/2, virgin CBA/J, and CBA/J?BALB/c mice were used as an abortion-prone model (group A), non-pregnant controls (group N), and fertile controls (group F), respectively. The percentage of CD45~+CD86~+ cell in the CD45~+ cell group (CD45~+CD86~+ percentage for short) and the absolute number of these cells were determined with flow cytometry (FCM), using mononuclear cells isolated from PLNs collected on day 5.5, 9.5, and 13.5 of gestation, respectively, and mononuclear cells from placentas on day 13.5 of gestation. Objective To investigate the expression and significance of Ezrin and ICAM-1 in gastric carci- noma.Methods The expression of Ezrin and ICAM-1 were examined by S-P immunohistochemistry assays in 78 ca- ses of gastric carcinoma.30 cases of nonmalignant tissue and 30 cases of normal stomach.The relationship between them and their pathological characteristics were analyzed.Results ①The expression rates of Ezrin and ICAM-1 were obviously higher in carcinoma group than that of nonmalignant group and normal group(P<0.01),in the lym- phatic metastasis group than that in non lymphatic metastasis group(P<0.05),and in T3.T4 group and than that in T1,T2 group(P<0.05).②The expression level of ICAM-1 was positively related with that of Ezrin(r=0.46. P=0.00).③The test of the expression of Ezrin and ICAM-1 simutaniously could obviously increase the sensitivity and specificy for detecting the metastasis of stomach malignant tumor(P<0.05).Condusion The over expression of Ezrin and ICAM-1 is related to the pathogenesis and invasion as well as metastasis of stomach carcinoma.The combined detection of two markers can obviously increase the sensitivity and specificy for predicting metastasis of stomach carcinoma.
