Objective To evaluate the strategy using cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive (CTA) in amniotic membrane transplantaton(AMT) to manage corneoscleral melting in severe ocular burns. Methods Twelve eyes from eleven patients with chemical or thermal burns of grade Ⅳ were recruited for this study. After medical treatment failed to arrest corneal or sclera melting,CTA were applied directly on the ulcerating corneal or sclera surface to augmented AMT. Results In all cases, all sclera ulcerations (five of eleven) were prevented or healed, epithelialization of burned cornea (eight of eleven) was complete, corneal ulceration in the rest three eyes was successfully arrested. Conclusion Tissue adhesive aided amniotic membrane transplantation is a promising altermnative in managing severe corneoscleral melting in chemical or thermal burns to maintain the integrity of the ocular wall.

Background Familial hyperaldosteronism type Ⅱ(FH-Ⅱ) is characterized by autosomal dominant inheritance and hyperaldosteronism.Linkage analysis demonstrated chromosome 7q22 most likely harbor the genetic defect. Objective To identify the disease locus in a Chinese pedigree with FH-Ⅱ using genetic linkage analysis. Methods Haplotypes of the FH-Ⅱ pedigree were analyzed using four microsatellite markers(D7S531,D7S2521,D7S511,D7S481) at 7p22 to determine the critical region, and multipoint logarithm of odds(LOD) scores were calculated to assess linkage with FH-Ⅱ.Results Several members(affected members) in the family had hypertension, hypokalemia, hyperaldosteronism, low renin activity.Hypertension and hypokalemia was improved by spironolactone test.Dexamethasone suppression test was performed but without clinical or hyperaldosteronism improvement in three affected members, confirmed FH-Ⅱ family pedigree. The same haplotypes D7S531(ac,n=24)-D7S2521(ac,n=11)-D7S511(ca,n=21)-D7S481(ac,n=16) were shared by all known affected members and one suspicious member, but also by one unaffected member of the family, making it unlikely that this region contains the causative gene mutation. In this FH-Ⅱ family, the LOD scores of the four markers were

Objective To investigate the variation patterm in activity concentration of 210Pb in atmospheric aerosol in Qindao and evaluate its internal radiation effect to human body. Methods 210Pb activity concentration of aerosol samples was measured by high purity germanium(HPGe) γ spectrometer for purpose of ascertaining its variation in aerosol in Qingdao from April 2015 to March 2016.Results 210Pb activity concentration in aerosol varied from 0.06 to 1.61 mBq/m3 and the mean of (0.70 ± 0.50) mBq/m3,slightly higher than the UNSECAR 1988 report recommended value of O.50 mBq/m3.In this study,210Pb activity concentration in aerosol was high from December 2015 to February 2016 and low from August to November.Radiation dose assessment revealed that the annual committed effective dose to adults delivered by 210Pb was 6.35 × 10-6 Sv.The monthly variation in activity concentration variation of 210Pb in atmospheric aerosol in Qingdao was similar as in Xiamen. Conclusions Activity concentration of 210Pb in atmospheric aerosols in Qingdao varied largely dependent on atmospheric environmental pollution.210Pb contributed less to the adult annual committed effective dose. However, more attention should be drawn to the long-term radiation effects to aduhs due to the 210Pb potentially deposited in lungs.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the biological and molecular biological characteristics of Klebsiella pneumoniae in burn patients in order to give the first hand information for preventing and controlling of hospital acquired infections.METHODS The identification was done by Bio-Merieux ATB expression.Antimicrobial susceptibility test was performed with K-B method. The plasmid DNA was extracted by Alkaline Lysis, and separated by electrophoresis on the gel.The ESBLs detection was based on NCCLS.RESULTS The K.pneumoniae from the burn patients and the environment were sensitive to CIP,FOX and IPM,but showed resistance to the rest 12 antibiotics. The plasmid DNA profile analysis showed 3 types, and the relative molecular mass was approximately 4.7?106,3.6?106 and 2.0?106.The molecular biological characteristics showed these pathogens were ESBLs-producing K.pneumoniae, which was different from the control bacteria. At the same time, the pathogens caused the original infection were detected, and they were accordingly Staphylococcus aureus,Streptococcus pyogenes, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.CONCLUSIONS The outbreak in burn patients is caused by ESBLs-producing K.pneumoniae, which has the same antibiotic resistance spectrum and plasmid DNA profile. This ESBLs-producing K.pneumoniae has the same origin. The pathogen might be transmitted by the case history clips and the door knobs. It was suggested that something must be done to enhance the antisepsis administration in order to prevent the hospital acquired infection.

Alzheimer disease (AD), commonly known as senile dementia, is the most common type of dementia, resulting in progressive impairment of cognitive function, and is often accompanied by a variety of psychiatric symptoms, such as agitation. Agitated symptoms in AD patients often cause an increasing burden on caregivers, and current psychiatric medications may exacerbate adverse effects such as cognitive impairment and motor retardation in patients. Therefore, non-drug intervention is a very important adjuvant treatment option. This article reviews the clinical manifestations, possible mechanisms, drug therapy and non-drug intervention measures of agitation in order to provide reference for more effective treatment of AD.
