1.On Quality Criteria of Gengnianjingxin Capsules

OBJECTIVE:To establish the quality criteria for Gengnianjingxin capsules.METHODS:The constituents of Fructus Ligustri Lucidi,Radix Polygoni Multiflori,Semen Sesami Nigrum,and Flos Albiziae etc in Gengnianjingxin capsules were identified by TLC; the content of Paeoniflorin in Gengnianjingxin capsules was determined by HPLC. The chromatographic separation was performed on a ODS-(3)C18 column with mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-phosphate 0.1% (16∶84) at a flow rate of 1.0mL?min-1. The detection wavelength was 230nm. RESULTS:Fructus Ligustri Lucidi,Radix Polygoni Multiflori,Semen Sesami Nigrum,and Flos Albiziae were all well-separated and clear spots were noted in TLC. The calibration curve was linear for Peoniflorin in the range of 0.256 2~1.281 0?g?mL-1(r=0.999 9), with the average recovery rate of 101.86% and RSD of 1.72%(n=5),CONCLUSION:The established criteria are suitable for the quality control of Gengnianjingxin capsules.
2.Characteristics of Urban Inpatients with Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries in Tianjin, 2007

ObjectiveTo investigate the characteristics of traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) urban inpatients of Tianjin in 2007. MethodsInpatients with TSCI of 8 hospitals in Tianjin in 2007 were reviewed. ResultsThere were 73 patients in total. Mean age was (51.34±14.597) years. Male∶Female was 3.56∶1. Falling, motor vehicle accidents (MVC) were the main causes of TSCI. The cervical spinal cord injuries were predominant. 26% were complete injury and 74% were incomplete. 6 cases were dead. Patients with ASIA grade D recover well. ConclusionFor the TSCI, the ages of patients increases and falling is the main cause.
3.A new method for visual SARS DNA sequences analysis.

Traditional DNA sequence analysis is based on sequence alignment, while a new DNA visual sequence analysis is proposed in this paper. Based on S. Wolfram's cellular automation theory, the method transfers one-dimensional DNA sequence into two-demensional visual image. Applying this method to SARS DNA sequence analysis, a characteristic of SARS-CoV differing from non-SARS is discovered. Compared with all known coronaviruses' images, It is found that this is a unique characteristic of SARS virus, and it is helpful to clinical identification of SARS.

4.Further analysis and study based on a visualized method for SARS RNA sequences.

This paper proposed a new kind of visualized method of genome. Using cellular automation theory, the visual method transfers one-dimensional RNA sequence into two-demension visual image. Applying this method to SARS RNA sequence analysis, the characteristic of SARS-CoV differing from Non-SARS is discovered. This paper extracts characteristic genome fragment, visualize them, and study them with some pattern recognition method such as PCA and SVM. The result shows that the characteristic of SARS-CoV is classifiable. Some combined methods can use the characteristic more sufficient as an un-routine method.

5. Relationship between sleep duration on peak melatonin secretion and renal function injury in steel workers

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between the sleep duration on peak melatonin secretion and renal function injury in steel workers. METHODS: A judgment sampling method was used to select 7 655 steel workers in a steel production department for health examination and questionnaire survey, and the relationship between renal function injury and non-peak sleep time(equivalent to the reduction of sleep duration on peak melatonin secretion) was analyzed using restriction cubic spline(RCS) model and multi-factor logistic regression. RESULTS: The detection rate of renal injury in the study subjects was 14.5%(1 110/7 655). RCS model analysis results showed that there was a linear dose-response relationship between non-peak sleep time and renal injury(overall correlation test χ~2=16.85, P<0.01, nonlinear test χ~2=3.70, P>0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis results showed that the workers of non-peak sleep time more than or equal to 4 515-day had higher risk of renal function injury than the workers of non-peak sleep time less than 4 515-day(P<0.05), with odds ratio and 95% confidence interval of 1.4(1.2-1.7), after adjustment for the potential influencing factors such as individual factors and occupational factors. CONCLUSION: Reduction of peak melatonin secretion sleep duration is correlated with renal function injury in steel workers.
