Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2017;15(5):371-376
Objective:To observe the effect of acupuncture plus medium-frequency electric stimulation on bladder function after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer. Methods:A total of 170 patients confirmed by biopsy and surgical pathology and treated with radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer were randomly divided into an acupuncture group, an observation group and a control group by random digital table. Fifty-six cases in the acupuncture group were treated with acupuncture after surgery, one session each day, till the extubation day; 58 cases in the observation group were treated with acupuncture plus medium-frequency electric stimulation after surgery, one session each day, till the extubation day; and 56 cases in the control group didn't receive any intervention, and the catheter was retained till the extubation day. On the postoperative day 14, all groups were dealt with catheterization to determine the residual urine volume, in order to observe the occurrence rate of urinary retention and the recovery of bladder function and to compare the differences of the therapeutic effects among the groups. Results:The occurrence rates of urinary retention were respectively 16.1%, 20.7% and 46.4% in the acupuncture group, observation group and control group, with significant differences (P<0.05). When comparing the acupuncture group and the observation group with the control group, there were significant differences (bothP<0.05). In comparison between the acupuncture group and the observation group, there was no significant difference (P>0.05). The recovery rates of bladder function in the three group were respectively 42.9%, 60.3% and 41.1% without significant differences (P>0.05). Moreover, there were no significant between-group differences (P>0.05), but acupuncture plus medium-frequency electric stimulation showed a better tendency. Conclusion: The single application of acupuncture therapy is effective and able to prevent urinary retention after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer. Acupuncture plus medium-frequency electric stimulation can effectively enhance the recovery of bladder function and reduce the residual urine volume in the bladder to the maximum.

Objective To investigate the treatment and clinical outcomes in developmental dislocation of the hip in chil?dren above 8 years old. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the results of operation treatment for developmental dislocation of the hip in 94 children (112 hips) from 2006 to 2012. The age of the patients ranged from 8.2 to 13.6 years at the time of treatment, with an average age 9.8 years. In 94 patients, there are 18 males and 76 females. The patients were classified into three group based on the age at time of operation:Group 8-9 years old, Group 10-11 years old, Group 12-13 years old. The dislocation of hip was classified by T?nnis classification system:gradeⅡ34 hips, gradeⅢ29 hips, gradeⅣ49 hips. Surgery was performed in all the patients. The procedures consisted of open reduction of the hip, capsulorraphy, shortening and derotational osteotomy of proxi?mal femur, and acetabular osteotomy which include Pemberton osteotomy (66 hips), Salter osteotomy (30 hips), Ganz osteotomy (3 hips), Triple osteotomy (5 hips) and Chiari osteotomy (8 hips). McKay and Severin modified criteria were used to assess the func?tion and radiographic results of the hip. Results The average follow?up was 2.3 years ranged from 1 to 7 years. According to McKay modified criteria at final follow?up, 75 hips (67%) had excellent (22 hips) and good (53 hips) clinical results, 32 hips (29%) were fair and 5 hips (4%) were poor. According to the Severin criteria, the outcomes of T?nnis grade Ⅳgroup was significantly worse than T?nnis gradeⅡ,Ⅲgroup. There is no significant differences between T?nnisⅡandⅢtype groups. If the patients were classified by age at time of operation, the function of group 8-9 years old was significantly better than others group according to the McKay criteria; the group 12-13 years old was significantly worse than others group according to Severin criteria. Conclu?sion Open reduction with proximal femoral osteotomy and acetabular osteotomy was an effective procedure for the treatment of developmental dislocation of the hip in children above 8 years old. The surgical results were related to the age at time of treatment and T?nnis classification system; low dislocation (T?nnis Ⅱ, Ⅲ) and young age (younger than 10 years old) had better function and radiographic results compared with high dislocation (T?nnisⅣ) and elder age group.

Objective To study a novel method for the high-dose-rate brachytherapy (HDR) CT image to the intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) CT image deformable image registration and dose accumulation. Methods The applicator in the HDR CT image is first segmented and removed, then a deflation step is performed on the applicator-free HDR CT image by solving the Navier-Stokes equation.Demons algorithm is utilized to register the deflated HDR CT image to the IMRT CT image, along with the HDR dose. The deformed HDR dose is then added on the IMRT dose and yield the final accumulated dose. Results The HDR CT image and IMRT CT image,as well as the corresponding dose distribution, from five cervical cancer patients are used for evaluation of the proposed algorithm, the results show that the proposed method can effectively get rid of the influence of the applicator and produce an accurate accumulated dose. Conclusions Dose accumulation and supervision is an important step in adaptive radiotherapy for accurate dose delivery and treatment plan re-optimization.The proposed method in this study can effectively accumulate the HDR dose to the IMRT dose domain, and the accuracy is proved to be sufficient for clinical needs.

To establish a UPLC-MS/MS method for the simultaneous determination of geniposide, genipin 1-O-beta-D-gentiobioside and geniposidic acid in rat brains and study the brain pharmacokinetics of the three iridoid glycosides in stroke rat after the oral administration of Xingnaojing. In this experiment, brain samples were precipitated with protein for twice. Acquity BEH C18 column was adopted, with acetonitrile-0.1% formic acid-water as the mobile phase for gradient elution. ESI source was adopted for mass spectra; multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) was conducted to detect negative ions. The time for sample analysis was 3.5 min. the results showed good linear relations among the three iridoid glycosides, with the extraction recovery between 99.6% and 114.3%, good intra- and inter-day precisions and accuracies and stability in line with the requirements. The t1/2 and MRT in the three components were similar in brains of stroke rats. Geniposide and genipin 1-O-beta-D-gentiobioside showed double peaks; where as geniposidic acid showed a single peak. In conclusion, the method is so specific, sensitive, accurate and reliable that it can be used to study the brain pharmacokinetics of Xingnaojing oral preparation.
