2.Pterygium conjunctive reverse transplantation combined with amniotic membrane transplantation on recurrent pterygium

To discuss the effective method of decreasing the postoperative recurrence rate of recurrent pterygium.
●METHODS:Totally 126 cases (126 eyes) with recurrent pterygium were randomly divided into A group (56 cases) and B group ( 70 cases ). Group A was treated by pterygium conjunctive reverse transplantation combined with amniotic membrane transplantation, group B was treated by amniotic membrane transplantation. The followed-up time after surgery was 6-24mo.
●RESULTS:ln group A, postoperative 5-7d (average 5. 62± 1. 38d), cornea epithelium was repaired. ln group B, postoperative 7- 10d ( average 7. 38 ± 1. 12d), the corneal wound was healed. There was statistical significant difference between two groups (t = 4. 307,P<0. 05). Three cases recurrence were noted in A therapeutic group (56 cases), the recurrent rate was 5. 4%; Twelve cases recurrence were noted in B compared group (70 cases), the recurrent rate was 17. 1%. There was statistical significant difference between two groups(P<0. 05).
●CONCLUSlON: lt is suggested that pterygium conjunctive reverse transplantation combined with amniotic membrane transplantation is effective in the treatment of recurrent pterygium.
3.Clinical features and imaging findings in pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis: report of two cases and a pooled analysis.

BACKGROUNDPulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis (PCH) is a rare disease and no Chinese case has been reported yet. The disease is often misdiagnosed and its clinical characteristics are incompletely described. The aim of this study was to describe two Chinese cases and to clarify the clinical and radiographic parameters of patients with PCH.
METHODSTwo PCH cases were presented and other cases were searched from the English literature. All available clinical and radiographic data were collected from 62 literature reported PCH cases. A pooled analysis of total 64 cases was made.
RESULTSDyspnea and hemoptysis were the most common clinical symptoms of PCH. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) was found in 78% of the reported cases. PCH typically showed characteristic diffuse or patchy ground-glass opacities (GGOs) and/or multiple ill-defined centrilobular nodules in the computed tomography.
CONCLUSIONSThe diagnosis of PCH requires a high clinical suspicion. However, both clinical presentations and radiographic studies often provide clues to the diagnosis, which may prompt early lung biopsy for a definite diagnosis.

OBJECTIVETo study on visible display of Meridian on the dummy human body.
METHODSTube model-building method and computer technique were used, and data came from Voxel-Man dummy human body development platform.
RESULTSThe visual effect of re-building Meridian is very good and it can display the different layers of anatomic structures on the Meridian lines.
CONCLUSIONThe visible display of Meridian on the dummy human body is preliminary realized, which provides data carriers for establishing the platform of Meridian study.

5.Electron microscopic examination on 50 cases of prostatic needle biopsies.

OBJECTIVETo study the differences in ultrastructural findings between prostatic carcinoma and benign prostatic hypertrophy, and the various ultrastructural features seen in moderately to poorly differentiated prostatic carcinoma.
METHODSUtrasound-guided needle biopsies were carried out in 50 clinically suspicious cases of prostatic carcinoma. For each case, one additional core was sampled from the most suspicious area, fixed in glutaraldehyde and examined under electron microscopy.
RESULTSIn the 50 cases of prostatic needle biopsies studied, there were a total of 42 cases with histologic findings of prostatic carcinoma. Thirty-one cases showed features corresponding to Gleason's score 3 to 5. In contrast to that seen in benign prostatic hypertrophy, the ultrastructural findings of the tumor cells commonly seen in prostatic carcinoma included the centrally located giant nucleoli, a direct contact with stroma, and formation of cytoplasmic microcyst. Occasionaly, there were mitotic figures seen, accompanying with fibromyxoid change of the peritumoural stroma. Amongst the 31 cases of Gleason's score 3 to 5 prostatic carcinoma, 29 cases (93.5%) demonstrated cytoplasmic prostasomes and storage vesicles. Similar to their counterparts in benign prostatic cells, prostasomes and storage vesicles in prostatic carcinoma cells were formed in the Golgi apparatus and released into the lumen by apocrine excretion and exocytosis.
CONCLUSIONSElectron microscopy is helpful in distinguishing between benign and malignant prostatic lesions. Because of the high yield of prostasomes in moderately to poorly differentiated prostatic carcinoma, prostasomes may become a potential target for cancer immunotherapy and one of the useful diagnostic indices for delineating the prostatic origin of metastatic carcinoma.

OBJECTIVETo study the Biological effect of seed-coating in Carthamus tinctorins.
METHODTwo kinds of seedcoating chemicals SCF1 and SCF2 were used in this experiment, the seed YM-99 and 27981-99 were coated by three kinds of ratio of seedcoating chemicals to seed. It was investigated that the germination energy and germination percentage in the room and the emergence rate, seedling stage growing, pest in the field.
RESULTSeedoating can improve the emergence rate and seedling stage growing, it also can effectively control aphid, rust and virosis during the growing period in C. tinctorins.
CONCLUSIONSeedcoating has significant biological effect in C. tinctorins.

8.Evaluation of hepatocellular function influenced by Chinese drug Dahuang Zhechong pill.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the influence of Chinese drug Dahuang Zhechong pill on the hepatocellular function.
METHODThirty-seven patients with hepatocirrhosis and twelve normal controls were performed the hepatobiliary scintgraphy with Tc-99m labeled ethylene hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid (99 mTc-EHIDA), and the biochemical examination of hepatic function. There was 19 cases repeated the imaging after 6 months treated with chineses drug. By the three compartmental model configurations, the function parameters of hepatocellular extraction and excretion were calculated.
RESULTIn the hepatocirrhosis groups, the hepatocellular uptake peak time and mean residence index were higher than those in normal controls (P < 0.01). Compared to normal controls, the uptake index, uptake speed index and descendent speed index were decreased markedly (P < 0.05). After treatment for 6 months with Chinese drug, the level of serum transaminase, globulin and bilirubin was lower than that before treatment. The uptake peak time and mean residence index decreased notably after treatment for 6 months (P < 0.01), and the uptake index increased, (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONChinese drug Dahuang Zhechong pill may improve the hepatocellular function and liver function status in patients with hepatocirrhosis.

9.Study on the correlation of GCS and MDR1 genes in inducing multidrug resistance in human K562/A02 cell line.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the correlation of glucosylceramide synthase (GCS) gene and multidrug resistance 1 (MDR1) gene in inducing multidrug resistance in human multidrug-resistant K562/A02 cell line, and search for a novel strategy for reversing multidrug resistance of leukemia cells.
METHODSThe expression levels of GCS and MDR1 mRNA in K562 and K562/A02 cells were assayed by RT-PCR. siRNAs targeting the GCS and MDR1 gene were transfected into K562/A02 cells with liposome, respectively. The differential expression of GCS and MDR1 mRNAs, as well as their correlation, were detected by RT-PCR and real time quantitative-PCR(QPCR).
RESULTSThe expression level of GCS and MDR1 mRNA was dramatically lower in drug-sensitive K562 cells compared with the K562/A02 cells. The GCS mRNA was inhibited by 73%(59%-82%) and MDR1 mRNA expression was down regulated by 67% (38%-82%) in K562/A02 cells after being transfected with GCS siRNA. The expression level of MDR1 mRNA was inhibited by 81%(63%-91%) and GCS mRNA expression had no apparent change in K562/A02 cells treated with MDR1 small interference RNA(siRNA).
CONCLUSIONPositive correlation was detected between the expression of GCS and MDR1 mRNA in K562/A02 cells and MDR1 mRNA expression was down regulated after silencing the GCS gene expression.

10.Serum Bilirubin and 6-min Walk Distance as Prognostic Predictors for Inoperable Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension: A Prospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUNDInoperable chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a severe clinical syndrome characterized by right cardiac failure and possibly subsequent liver dysfunction. However, whether serum markers of liver dysfunction can predict prognosis in inoperable CTEPH patients has not been determined. Our study aimed to evaluate the potential role of liver function markers (such as serum levels of transaminase, bilirubin, and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase [GGT]) combined with 6-min walk test in the prediction of prognosis in patients with inoperable CTEPH.
METHODSFrom June 2005 to May 2013, 77 consecutive patients with inoperable CTEPH without confounding co-morbidities were recruited for this prospective cohort study. Baseline clinical characteristics and 6-min walk distance (6MWD) results were collected. Serum biomarkers of liver function, including levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, GGT, uric acid, and serum bilirubin, were also determined at enrollment. All-cause mortality was recorded during the follow-up period.
RESULTSDuring the follow-up, 22 patients (29%) died. Cox regression analyses demonstrated that increased serum concentration of total bilirubin (hazard ratio [HR] = 7.755, P < 0.001), elevated N-terminal of the prohormone brain natriuretic peptide (HR = 1.001, P = 0.001), decreased 6MWD (HR = 0.990, P < 0.001), increased central venous pressure (HR = 1.074, P = 0.040), and higher pulmonary vascular resistance (HR = 1.001, P = 0.018) were associated with an increased risk of mortality. Serum concentrations of total bilirubin (HR = 4.755, P = 0.007) and 6MWD (HR = 0.994, P = 0.017) were independent prognostic predictors for CTEPH patients. Patients with hyperbilirubinemia (≥23.7 μmol/L) had markedly worse survival than those with normobilirubinemia.
CONCLUSIONElevated serum bilirubin and decreased 6MWD are potential predictors for poor prognosis in inoperable CTEPH.
