Objective To compare the surgical effects of transurethal enucleation of prostate (TUEP)with transurethal resection of prostate (TURP) by a retrospective analysis of clinical data. Methods The patients in this study were divided into the groups of TUEP (enrolled in 2010 and 2011,n =77) and TURP (enrolled in 2009,n =27) with prostate larger than 60 g and smaller than 60 g respectively.Comparisons were made between the two groups in operation time, blood loss volume and weight of resected prostate. Results In the group of patients with prostate larger than 60 g,there was no significant difference in prostate weight ((88.5 ± 9.2) g vs.(107.0 ± 15.30) g,P =0.255),operation time ((91.5 ± 8.8) min vs.(118.3 ± 20.2)min,P =0.083),and weight of resected prostate ((48.0 ± 4.6) g vs.(58.4 ± 5.4) g,P =0.32) between the TUEP (53 patients) and the TURP (12 patients) groups. There was significant difference in blood loss ((110.0 ± 16.4) ml vs.(193.3 ± 22.3) ml,P =0.011) between the two groups. In the group of patients with prostate smaller than 60 g,there was no significant difference in prostate weight ((43.1 ± 3.2) g vs.(36.8 ± 3.4) g,P =0.072),operation time ((62.7 ±6.8) min vs.(69.3 ±6.2) min,P =0.431),blood loss ((56 ± 5) ml vs.(110±20) ml,P=0.082),and weight of resected prostate ((26.3 ±2.4) g vs.(23.6 ±2.1) g,P =0.291) between the TUEP (24 patients) and the TURP (15 patients) groups. Conclusion Compared with TURP,TUEP has the advantages of less blood loss in the treatment of patients with prostate larger than 60 g.With the improvement of surgeon' s experience and development of operation techniques,TURP will be replaced by TUEP.In the treatment of patients with prostate smaller than 60 g,the operation modality can be chosen by the surgeon based on his experience and proficiency.

A 18-year-old male patient's case was diagnosed as Degos'disease with pathognomonic skin lesions, accompanied by small bowel perforation, and reported here. Skin histopothological test show that the typical wedge-shaped necrobiosis and lymphocyte inflammatory infiltration. Vessels showed narrowing and thrombosis, with lymphocyte infiltration. Degos'disease is a systemic necrotizing vasculitis. Skin biopsy can confirm its diagnosis. Severe systemic complication should be prevented. Degos'disease should be considered in the differential diagnosis of skin lesions associated with systemic involvement.

AIM: To observe and study the influence of cardiac sympathetic nerve on QT dispersion (QTd) and the circadian variations of QTd in experimental rabbits. METHODS: The rabbits were divided into experimental group (without cardiac sympathetic control by operation) and control group (with retained cardiac sympathetic control by operation, sham operation). QTd of both groups were measured and compared before and after the operation. The circadian variations of QTd were also observed in both groups. RESULTS: QTd in experimental group decreased significantly after the cardiac sympathetic nerves were excised (P

Objective To explore the contrast perilymphatic MRI characteristics of inner ears with sudden hearing loss with vertigo. Methods Forty three patients with sudden hearing loss with vertigo and 35 patients with unilateral tinnitus diagnosed by the department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery were retrospectively included.Forty eight ears (38 ears with unilateral sudden hearing loss and 10 ears in 5 cases with bilateral sudden hearing loss) were regarded as sudden hearing loss group,35 asymptomatic ears (the opposite ears of the unilateral tinnitus ears) as control group.Thirty eight opposite ears of the 38 unilateral sudden hearing loss ears and 35 ears of the control group showed normal in the pure tone audiometry exam. One hundred and twenty one ears (48 hearing loss ears,38 opposite ears of the 38 unilateral sudden hearing loss ears and the 35 control group's ears) underwent contrast perilymphatic MR exams,0.4 to 0.5 ml gadolinium hydrate diluted with saline was injected through the tympanic membrane, twenty four hours later,three-dimensional fluid attenuated inversion recovery (3D-FLAIR) sequence was performed using a 3.0 T MRI scanner. After the contrast perilymphatic MR exam, success in the exam was judged through the raw image. The signal intensity ratio (SIR) of cochlea basal turn and homolateral brain stem was quantitatively calculated. The SIR difference of 48 ears with sudden hearing loss and 35 asymptomatic ears in control group was analyzed by t test. The SIR difference of the 38 unilateral sudden hearing loss ears and the contralateral asymptomatic ears was also analyzed. The presence of endolymphatic hydrops was judged. Results The contrast perilymphatic MRI of 121 inner ears with intratympanic gadolinium injection were all successful.Endolymphatic hydrops were observed in 12 sudden hearing loss ears with the occurrence rate of 25%(12/48).The SIR of basal turn and homolateral brain stem of the sudden hearing loss ears (2.062±0.907) were lower than the SIR of the control groups' asymptomatic ears (2.703± 0.640) with significant difference between them (t=3.619,P=0.001),the SIR of basal turn and homolateral brain stem of the unilateral sudden hearing loss ears (1.941 ±0.860) were also lower than the SIR of the contralateral asymptomatic ears (2.411±0.670) with statistical difference between them (t =3.270,P=0.002).Conclusions Endolymphatic hydrops were observed in sudden hearing loss with vertigo. The SIR of the cochlea in sudden hearing loss ears were lower than that of the asymptomatic ears, indicating the abnormal permeability of the round window membrane.

OBJECTIVETo observe the curative effect of integrative medicine for treatment of systematic lupu erythematosus (SLE).
METHODSTotally 110 cases of SLE were randomized into two groups, 50 in the control group and 60 in the treated group, both were treated with prednisone, but to the treated group, integrative medica treatment was given additionally according to syndrome differentiation. The course for both groups was 6 months. Clinical symptoms, immunological indexes, peripheral blood figure, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and creatinine (Cr) in blood, and 24 h urinary total protein (u-TP/24 h) were observed before and after treatment.
RESULTSOf the 60 patients in the treated group, the treatment on 29 was evaluated as clinical remission, 18 as remarkably effective, 9 as effective, and 4 as ineffective, the total effective rate being 93.33% (56/60), while that in the control group was clinical remission in 11, remarkably effective in 10, effective in 19, ineffective in 10 respectively, and the total effective rate 80% (40/50), the difference on total ef fective rate between the two groups was significant (chi2 = 4.36, P <0.05). Besides, the improvement in the treated group was superior to that in the control group in terms of clinical symptoms such as fever, arthralgia and baldness (P <0.05, P <0.01); the negative reversion rate of anti-nuclear antibody (ANA, 51.3% vs 28.1%), antidouble-stranded DNA (ds-DNA, 53.6% vs 26.1%), anti- ribonucleoprotein (RNP, 63.2% vs 29.4%) and circulating immnue complexes (CIC, 63.2% vs 29.4%, all P <0.05); lowering of immunoglobulin (for IgG, P < 0.05; IgA, P <0.01; IgM, P <0.01); as well as bettering in peripheral blood figure, ESR, CRP, Cr and u-TP/24 h (P <0.05 or P <0.01).
CONCLUSIONIntegrative medical treatment is obviously effective for SLE patients.
