OBJECTIVESTo introduce the method and experience of three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis for treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED).
METHODSBoth AMS700CX/CXM and MENTOR ALPHA I three-piece inflatable prosthesis were used for 48 cases of ED.
RESULTSThere were no rejection, mechanical problems, urethral injury and penile skin necrosis after surgery. All patients had satisfaction of sexual life. Only one case had trauma of tunica albuginea (2.08%) and the implantation had to be cancelled. There were 2 cases of post-operative infection (4.17%), 10 cases of prepuce edema(20.8%), 8 cases of penile pain(16.67%). The effective rate was 97.9% and satisfaction rate was almost 100%.
CONCLUSIONSThree-piece inflatable penile prosthesis was more compatible to human physiology. It is natural, easy to hide and use, and it caused little trauma in surgery with high rate of successful implantation and patient satisfaction. It was indicated for all kinds of ED, especially suitable for refractory and drug incurable ED patients.

Objective To investigate the effect of different temperature on the susceptibility of Aedes albopictus for transmission of dengue 2 virus. Methods Mosquitoes were orally infected with dengue virus type 2 suspension, then fully blood-engorged mosquitoes were separated and transferred to new cartons and sustained at 18,21,26,31,33℃ and 36℃ with 10% sucrose.Immunofluorescence assays were used to detect antigen of dengue virus type 2 in the head, salivary gland and thorax-abdomen,and calculated the disseminated infection rate of mosquitoes. Results For mosquitoes held at 18℃,the infection rate of thoraxabdomen was 8%,infection in head and salivary gland were not detected until 25d.Maximum infection rate of thorax-abdomen was attained at 31℃,the highest infection rate of head and salivary gland existed at 33℃,however,the infection rate of mosquitoes at 36℃ was significantly decreased compared with that at 33℃.The lowest disseminated infection rate was zero at 18℃,while the highest disseminated infection rate was 100% at 36 ℃.Conclusion As the temperature went up,the infection rate showed a tendency of ascending first and descending later.Dengue virus might not be transmitted by Aedes albopictus when temperature was below 18℃.The disseminated infection rate increased gradually with the increase of temperature.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the levels of blood pressure and serum lipids, and examine the relationship between hypertension and hyperlipidemia in Hei Yi Zhuang Chinese living in Guangxi.
METHODSA total of 1056 people of Hei Yi Zhuang ethnicity were studied. Blood pressure, body height, body weight, and serum levels of lipids and apolipoprotein were measured. The data were compared with those in 925 people of Han ethnicity, who live in the same region.
RESULTSSystolic blood pressure and pulse pressure were significantly higher in Hei Yi Zhuang than Han Chinese (P < 0.001). The prevalence of isolated systolic hypertension and hypertension was also significantly higher in Hei Yi Zhuang than Han Chinese (P < 0.001). Serum concentrations of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and apolipoprotein (Apo) B, and the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipidemia were significantly lower in Hei Yi Zhuang than Han Chinese (P < 0.05). Serum concentrations of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and the Apo A1 to Apo B ratio were significantly higher in Hei Yi Zhuang than Han Chinese (P < 0.001). The prevalence of hypertension in Hei Yi Zhuang Chinese was positively associated with triglycerides (r = 0.425, P < 0.05), whereas the prevalence of hypertension in Han Chinese was positively correlated with total cholesterol (r = 0.623, P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONThe present study revealed a significant difference in blood pressure and serum lipids between Hei Yi Zhuang and Han ethnic groups, and an association between hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

BACKGROUNDAtopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by chronic recurrent dermatitis with profound itching. Most patients have personal and/or family history of atopic diseases. Several criteria have been proposed for the diagnosis of AD. Although the clinical features of childhood AD have been widely studied, there has been less large-scale study on adult/adolescent AD. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical features of adult/adolescent patients with chronic symmetrical eczema/AD and to propose Chinese diagnostic criteria for adult/adolescent AD.
METHODSA hospital-based study was performed. Forty-two dermatological centers participated in this study. Adult and adolescent patients (12 years and over) with chronic symmetrical eczema or AD were included in this study. Questionnaires were completed by both patients and investigators. The valid questionnaires were analyzed using EpiData 3.1 and SPSS 17.0 software.
RESULTSA total of 2662 valid questionnaires were collected (1369 male and 1293 female). Of all 2662 patients, 2062 (77.5%) patients had the disease after 12 years old, while only 600 (22.5%) patients had the disease before 12 years old, suggesting late-onset eczema/AD is common. Two thousand one hundred and thirty-nine (80.4%) patients had the disease for more than 6 months. One thousand one hundred and forty-four (43.0%) patients had a personal and/or family history of atopic diseases. One thousand five hundred and forty-eight (58.2%) patients had an elevated total serum IgE and/or eosinophilia and/or positive allergen-specific IgE. Based on these clinical and laboratory features, we proposed Chinese criteria for adult/adolescent AD. Of all 2662 patients, 60.3% were satisfied with our criteria, while only 48.2% satisfied with Hanifin Rajka criteria and 32.7% satisfied with Williams criteria, suggesting a good sensitivity of our criteria in adult/adolescent AD patients.
CONCLUSIONLate-onset of eczema or AD is common. The clinical manifestations of AD are heterogeneous. We have proposed Chinese diagnostic criteria for adolescent and adult AD, which are simple and sensitive for diagnosis of adult/adolescent AD.
