Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
Successive pathogenic bacteria were examined from liver, spleen, kidney and contents of intestine of diseased stone flounder (Kareius bicoloratus L.) occurring bacterial septicaemia infection caused by Aeromonas salmonicida. Identification of extensive phenotypic information to 6 pure cultures and detection of the mol% G+C ratio of the DNA to representative strains, showed that the examined bacteria belonged to a new morphovar of Acinetobacter junii, and was designated as Acinetobacter junii morphovar I. In addition, serotype, antibiotic sensitivity and pathogenicity of isolates were studied, the results showed that the 6 strains have the same K-antigen and O-antigen, there are no obvious differences in sensitivity and resistance to used 37 antimicrobial agents between strains, and have strong pathogenicity to experimental stone flounder and Bastard halibut.

Purpose To discuss the clinicopathological features of primary thymic extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and lymphoepithelial sialadenitis (LESA)-like thymic hyperplasia, their relationship and differential diagnosis. Methods Three cases of thymic MALT lymphoma and one LESA-like thymic hyperplasia were evaluated by HE staining, immunohistochemistry and immunoglobulin (Ig) gene rearrangement technology. Results The symptoms of Sjsgren syndrome were found in the two patients with thymic MALT lymphoma.Microscopically, the normal architecture of thymus was effaced by dense lymphoid infiltration composed predominantly of centrocyte-like and monocytoid B cells with prominent lymphoepithelial lesions.Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive CD20,PAX-5,and BCL-2.The plasma cells showed lambda light chain restriction in one case with prominent plasmacytoid differentiation. In LESA-like thymic hyperplasia, the normal lobular architecture of thymus was generally reserved and abundant lymphoid tissue containing lymphoid follicles was seen with prominent lymphoepithelial lesions in expanding islands of thymic epithelial cells and epithelium lining the cysts, but a monocytoid B-cell population was absent.Immunohistochemically,a mixed B-cell and T-cell population was identified.A monoclonal rearrangement of the Ig gene was detected in all three thymic MALT lymphomas but not in the case of LESA-like hyperplasia. Conclusion Primary thymic MALT lymphoma and LESA-like thymic hyperplasia are both rare lymphoid proliferative lesions and the two lesions have overlapping histological and immunohistochemical features.A combination of genetic rearrangement and analysis of the differential points is helpful to distinguish between them.

The stems and branches of Hypericum petiolulatum were extracted by alcohol and liquid-liquid extraction. Seven furofuran lignans were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of H. petiolulatum by using silica gelchromatography, Sephadex LH-20 chromatography, medium-pressure liquid chromatography and preparative HPLC. Their structures were identified by the spectroscopic methods as pinoresinol (1), medioresinol (2), 8-acetoxypinoresinol (3), epipinoresinol (4), (+)-syringaresinol (5), (+)-1-hydroxysyringaresinol (6) and erythro-buddlenolE (7). All the isolates were firstly found in H. petiolulatum. In the bioassay, compound 7 showed remarkable antioxidative activity inhibiting Fe(+2)-cystine induced rat liver microsomal lipid peroxidation with inhibitory rate 38% at a concentration of 1 x 10(-6) mol · L(-1) (positive control Vit E with the inhibitory rate of 35% at the same concentration).

Objective To identify changes in the occurrence of endemic fluorosis in order to provide scientific basis for making countermeasures. Methods Five villages from 14 counties of mild, moderate and severe fluorosis affected areas were selected by stratified cluster sampling every year in the whole province during 2006 - 2010. Water and urinary fluorine were determined by ion selective electrode method(GB/T 8538-1995); dental fluorosis of children 8-12 years old was diagnosed with Dean method; skeletal fluorosis was diagnosed according to "clinical indexing standards of endemic skeletal fluorosis "(GB 16396-1996), between 2006 and 2008, and "clinical diagnosis standard of endemic skeletal fluorosis"(WS 192-2008) between 2009 and 2010. Results A total of 25 diseased villages were surveyed, 14 with water sources changed, covered a resident population of 8005 people, beneficiary population 7154, and accounting for 89.37% of the resident population; not changed villages 11. In accordance with the "State drinking water health standards", in the 14 changed villages the fluoride in drinking water was qualified (≤ 1.20 mg/L), there were 3 schools whose water fluorine content exceeded the standard; among the 11 villages that did not change water sources 7 drinking water samples fluorine content exceeded the standard. Of the 8 to 12 years old children in villages with changed water sources, 363 of them were checked and 142 dental fluorosis were found, the detection rate of dental fluorosis was 39.12% (142/363); in villages with water sources not changed, 303 children were checked, the detection rate of dental fluorosis was 43.89%(133/303). Of sixteen and elder adults in water source changed villages, 6424 people were checked and 403 skeletal fluorosis were found, skeletal fluorosis detection rate was 6.27% (403/6424); 3572 people were checked in not changed villages, the detection rate of skeletal fluorosis was 13.89%(496/3572). In water sources changed areas, geometric mean of urinary fluoride was in the normal reference value(WS/T 256-2005, 1.40 mg/L)or less. Conclusions Endemic fluorosis is decreased in water improved areas, but in unimproved areas the disease is still severe, and control of endemic fluorosis is still an arduous task.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(8):749-752
Background Congenital nystagmus is a common disease threatening visual function. The clinical description of congenital nystagmus is still not enough now. Objective The aim of this study was to report the motor and sensory characteristics of congenital nystagmus. Methods A retrospective clinical case analysis was designed. The clinical data of 376 patients with congenital nystagmus were collected. These patients were diagnosed in Henan Eye Institute from January,2005 to August,2011.The clinical characteristics of patients, including age, pedigree analysis, nystagmus classification, ocular alignment, visual acuity, refractive error, stereoacuity and oscillopia, was summarized.Informed consent from all patients and custodian were obtained. Results The age distribution of most patients was >5-10 years and > 15-20 years, with the percentage 24.73% and 24.20%,respectively.Of 376 patients, sensory defect nystagmus was 172 cases, and that of motor sensory defect was 204 cases. The most common inheritance pattern was autosomal dominant.Conjugate uniplanar horizontal oscillations were found in 73.94%patients,and strabismus was found in 66.36% in this study.Sensory defected subjects did not show a statistically significantly higher strabismus incidence when compared with the idiopaths (x2 =3.048,P =0.081 ).The binocular distance vision in all the subjects was declined in comparison with normal eyes, the best corrected vision was 0.27 ±0.11 and 0.50± 0.13 in sensory defected nystagmus and idiopaths nystagmus respectively, showing a significant difference( t =16.495,P =0.000 ).The incidence of refractive error in this study was 77.62%.Incidence of astigmatism(75.17% ) was higher than that of myopia and hyperopia ( 39.03% and 36.12% ).No significant difference was seen in refractive error incidence between the sensory defected and the idiopaths (x2 =1.337,P =0.248).Patients of 65.18% displayed non-stereoacuity or very gross acuity levels (3000) in this study, and the patients with idiopathic nystagmus showed better stereoacuity level in comparison with sensory defected ones (x2 =7.058,P =0.008 ).Five of 313 patients existed experienced oscilopla under binocular viewing conditions. Conclusions Autosomal dominant inheritance is the most common pattern of congenital nystagmus.Conjugate uniplanar horizontal oscillation is thought to be a common type of nystagmus.Incidence of strabismus is higher, and visual acuity and stereoaeuity are worse in congenital nystagmus than in common population.Oscillopia is seldom found in congenital nystagmus.
