International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(1):52-
Objeetive To observe the effect of the fire and leopard-spot needling therapy in treating ankle sprain. Methods We randomly selected 59 ankle sprain cascs and divided them into 2 groups, with one contained 30 cases treated hy fire and leopard-spot needling therapy as the treatment group, and another contained 29 cases treated by computerized multa-function therapy apparatus as the control group. After 7 days'treatment,we observed the effects of each group. Results The results snowed that the effect of the treatment group was much better than the control group. Conclusion With the features of collateral vessel pricking and warming and activating meridians, fire and leopard-spot needling therapy can remove swelling and relieve pain rapidly.
2.Clinical study of chemoradiation therapy in rectal cancer
China Oncology 2001;0(05):-
Rectal cancer is a common malignant tumor in the gastrointestinal system. For the patients with resectable but high-risk rectal cancer, neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemoradiation plus surgery may improve local control.Compared to adjuvant chemoradiation, neoadjuvant chemoradiation showed the advantage of sphincter preservation. When the goal of preoperative chemoradiation was sphincter preservation, conventional radiotherapy was recommended.Through the analysis of the patients with 5-year survivals, the radiation had a similar impact on the survival as the chemotherapy alone for the patients with the intermediate risk factors. The impact on local control need to be further investigated before recommending chemotherapy alone for those subset patients.Advances in preoperative irradiation, postoperative irradiation and the comparison of preoperative irradiation with postoperative irradiation are also reviewed in this article.

ObjectiveTo establish an accurate method for simultaneous determination of plasma Kyn and Trp by HPLC-UV detection. Methods Kyn and Trp were separated on Agilent Hypersil ODS column using 3-nitrotyrosine as internal standard. The mobile phase consisted of 15 mmol/L sodium acetateacetic acid (pH 5.5):acetonitrile 94∶ 6(v/v) at a rate of 0.8 ml/min.The chromatographic separation was performed at 25 ℃.The eluate was monitored with programmed wavelength setting at 360 nm from 0 to 4 min for Kyn and at 302 nm from 4 to 5 min for Trp.The method was applied to determination of plasma Kyn and Trp in 8 chronic glomerulonephritis,10 idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura,15 chronic hepatitis B virus patients and 15 healthy controls from September to December in 2010.The differences were compared using ANOVA and SNK methods. Results The retention time of Kyn and Trp were 2.9 min and 4.4 min, respectively. For Kyn,the assay was linear from 0.44 μmol/L to 18.30 μmol/L.For Trp,the linearity was from 3.67 μmol/L to 470.00 μmol/L.The detection limits were 0.014 μmol/L for Kyn and 0.122 μmol/L for Trp,respectively. The within-day CVs were < 3% and the between-day CVs were < 4%.The mean recoveries yield were in the range of 92.29 to 104.40.The plasma concentrations of Kyn were ( 1.59 ± 0.28),(2.73 ± 0.56),(2.69 ± 0.44) and ( 1.54 ± 0.48 ) μmol/L,the plasma concentrations of Trp were (59.8 ± 10.0),(46.1 ± 11.7),(58.5 ±8.0) and (41.4±13.1) μmol/L,the Kyn/Trp were (0.027 4±0.007 5),(0.061 6 ±0.016 5),(0.046 7 ±0.009 1) and (0.038 3 ±0.007 5)in controls, chronic glomerulonephritis patients, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura patients and chronic hepatitis B virus patients, respectively. There were significance difference of Kyn,Trp and Kyn/Trp amony the four groups (F=23.734,8.463,20.921,all P<0.01).Conclusion The method is simple, fast, and suitable for applicability to clinical measurement.

Objective To explore the expression of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2(TIMP-2) in peripheral blood lymphocytes in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases(COPD) and the association of smoking and TIMP-2 mRNA. Methods The expression of TIMP-2 mRNA in peripheral blood lymphocytes was measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) in 44 patients with COPD and 42 healthy smokers. The correlation analysis was then conducted between TIMP-2 mRNA expression and smoking index. Results The expression of TIMP-2 mRNA was 0.753?0.154 and 1.170?0.196,respectively,in patients with COPD and healthy smokers(P

Objective To investigate the effects of total flavonoids of Herba Epimedii(HEF)on the metabolism of typeⅠcollagen and the expression of cathepsin K in the bone of ovariectomized(OVX)rats. Methods Fifty-four female SD rats were allocated into 6 groups;OVX group, sham operation group,OVX rats followed by three doses of HEF(40,80 and 160 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1))and nilestriol(0.1 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1))for 12 weeks respectively.Bone mineral density(BMD)of whole body was determined by dual-energy X-ray absoptiometry. The level of cross-linked N-telopeptide of typeⅠcollagen(NTx)in the urine were determined by ELISA.The amounts of typeⅠcollagen protein and cathepsin K protein in bone tissue were detected by immunohistochemical method and Western blotting. Results Compared with OVX group, the total BMD values in the HEF treated groups were increased(all P<0.05),and the expression levels of typeⅠcollagen in three HEF treated groups rose significantly in a dose-dependent manner after 12 week, and simultaneously, both the expression of cathepsin K in bone and the level of NTx/Cr were reduced markedly(P<0.05),being most significant(P<0.01)in the group treated with the highest dose of HEF(160 mg?kg~(-1)?d~(-1)).Conclusion HEF seems to be able to elevate BMD and improve bone quality of rats via promoting synthesis and inhibiting proteolysis and absorption of typeⅠcollagen in the bone.

The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of Guizhi Fuling capsule and its active complex (consistent of 15 active compounds) on LPS-induced RAW264. 7 cells. The effect of Guizhi Fuling capsule and its active complex on cell viability in RAW264. 7 cells were determined by MTT assay. The inhibitory effect of Guizhi Fuling capsule and active complex on the releasing of IL-1β, TNF-α and PGE2 induced by LPS in RAW264. 7 cells was detected by ELISA assay. The expression of IL-1β and mPGES-1 in Guizhi Fuling capsule or active complex treated RAW264. 7 cells was examined by Western blot assay. Guizhi Fuling capsule and active complex showed no significant effect on the cell viability in RAW264. 7 cells at doses range from 12.5 to 400 mg x L(-1). Compared with LPS treated group, Guizhi Fuling capsule and active complex dose dependently reduced the releasing of IL-1β, TNF-α and PGE2 induced by LPS in RAW264. 7 cells. Moreover, the expression of IL-1β and mPGES-1 was decreased after Guizhi Fuling capsule and active complex treatment, which might contribute to the inhibitory effect of Guizhi Fuling capsule in the releasing of IL-1β, TNF-α and PGE2. This study provided the evidence that Guizhi Fuling capsule and active complex remarkably inhibited the releasing of IL-1β, TNF-α and PGE2induced by LPS in RAW264. 7 cells by reducing the expression IL-1β and mPGES-1. This study provided an experimental basis of Guizhi Fuling capsule for the treatment of inflammation and a theoretical basis for the development of effective compounds of Guizhi Fuling capsule.
