5.Measurements of teeth, dental arch and base bone in Mongolia teenages

Objective: To obtain the data of dental measurements in healthy Mongolia teenages.Methods: Normal dentognathic models were obtained by cephalometric roentgenography in 56 teenages (30 boys and 26 girls) aged 10~17 years. The width of the tooth crown, the size of the dental arch and dental base bone were measured with a vernier. The measurments were statistically analysed.Results: The tooth crown in boys was wider than that in girls( P 0.05). There was no significant difference in Bolton index and Point index between boys and girls.Conclusion: The dental measurments may be refrences for dental clinic and research.
6.Early effect of extracorporeal shockwave treatment on distraction osteogenesis of long bone in rabbits

Objective To investigate the early effect of extracorporeal shockwave(ESW) treatment on distraction osteogenesis of rabbit tibias and its mechanism. Methods 30 adult New Zealand white rabbits were used. After osteotomy of left tibias, improved Orthofix M- 100 bone fixator was applied. After 5 days, bone lengthening of 1 cm was obtained over 10 days. Randomly the animals were divided into ESW and control groups. No ESW treatment was given to the control group. The shock wave was set at 0.54 mJ/mm2 and 1000 shots each time were applied to the central areas in the ESW group. Then the animals were divided into 3 sub- groups, and were killed respectively at 45, 60 and 75 days after osteotomy. During the process, X- ray, bone mineral density (BMD) and histological examinations were conducted for every animal. 7.Antithrombotic Effect of Orientoside

OBJECTIVE:To study the antithrombotic effect of orientoside.METHODS:The effects of prophylactic oriento_side on the clotting time in vitro and the systemic clots dissolution of mice,the plasma prothrombin time(PT),the kaolin partial thromboplastin time(KPTT),the thrombin time(TT),and the platelet aggregation induced by ADP and the euglobulin lysis time (ELT)in rabbits were studied.RESULTS:As compared with the normal saline group,orientoside(1,2,and 4mg/kg)signi_ficantly prolonged the clotting time of mice in vitro,yet which had no significant influence on the systemic clots dissolution of mice;while orientoside(0.625,1.25 and 2.5 mg/kg)significantly prolonged the PT,KPTT and TT of rabbits,and significantly inhibited platelet aggregation of rabbits induced by ADP,yet which had no significant influence on the ELT of the rabbits.CONCLUSION:Orientoside can significantly inhibit the formation of thrombus.
8.Nuclear Factor Kappa B Involed in Immunologic Function of Critically Ill Newborns

Objective To observe the immunologic function of critically ill newborn and the relative function of nuclear factor kappa B(NF-?B).Methods The critically ill group contained 50 cases,and 25 cases from healthy newborns were used as control group.Blood samples were collected in each case,levels of cytokine interleukin(IL)-4,interferon(IFN)-?,tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-? and NF-?B were detected.Result Compared with control group,NF-?B of the critically ill newborn activated and the cytokine were disorder,and IL-4 and TNF-? increased,but IFN-? decreased.Conclusions Critically ill newborn exist immune functional disorder.Furthermore,NF-?B activation may be involved in the process in infants with critically illness.
