3.Research progress in parathyroid hormone-related protein and diabetic nephropathy
Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2014;30(11):1009-1011
Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) and its receptor type 1 (PTH1 R) are extensively expressed in the kidney, where they are able to modulate renal function.Animal and human studies have shown that PTHrP acts as an important mediator of diabetic renal cell hypertrophy by a meehanism which involves the modulation of cell cycle regulatory proteins and TGF-β1.Furthermore,angiotensin Ⅱ (Ang Ⅱ) appears to be responsible for PTHrP upregulation in these conditions. These findings provide novel insights into the well-known protective effects of Ang Ⅱ antagonists in renal diseases, paving the wav for new therapeutic approaches.

China Pharmacy 2005;0(21):-
OBJECTIVE: To discuss the identification method of L-asparaginases prepared from E.coliASI.357 and Erwinia carotovora and the optimal enzymatic reaction conditions of potency determination.METHODS: HPLC method and isoelectric focusing electrophoresis were applied for the identification of L-asparaginase from 2 kinds of strain. The effects of category of buffer solution and pH value on enzymatic reaction of potency determination of L-asparaginase were investigated.RESULTS: HPLC chromatogram of L-asparaginases from E.coli ASI.357 was different from that from Erwinia carotovora. The retention time of the peaks were 11.0 min and 11.8 min.The isoelectric point (PI) of L-asparaginase produced from E.coliASI.357 was within 4.65~5.1 and that produced from Erwinia carotovora was within 7.1~8.20.The optimal enzymatic reaction conditions of potency determination of L-asparaginase produced from E.coliASI.35 were Tris-HCl (pH=9.0) as buffer and that produced from Erwinia carotovora was 0.2 mol?L-1 phosphate (pH=8.0) as buffer.CONCLUSION: The isoelectric point (PI) of L-asparaginases produced from 2 kinds of strain is different from each other as well as their optimal enzymatic reaction conditions of potency determination. The L-asparaginases from 2 kinds of strains should be controlled as 2 different categories.
6.Diagnosis and Exclusion of Secondary Causes of Osteoporosis
The Singapore Family Physician 2019;45(7):32-34
Osteoporosis is a major health concern and treatment of primary osteoporosis with anti-osteoporosis medications is needed to reduce fracture risk and burden. Before initiating anti-osteoporosis medications, secondary causes of osteoporosis should be considered and
satisfactorily excluded. However, it can be challenging to differentiate primary osteoporosis from secondary osteoporosis, especially in patients with paucity of symptoms or who have less common clinical presentation. Hence, practical tips like Appropriate Care Guide on
Osteoporosis forms the basis of initial secondary osteoporosis workup for primary care physicians. Snapshots of secondary osteoporosis are briefly discussed to facilitate “pattern recognition”.
7.Home Care for Schizophrenia in Beijing Rural Area
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2011;17(12):1191-1192
Objective To explore the effect of home care on schizophrenia in rural area in Beijing. Methods A comparative study has been done between 36 patients in home care and 36 patients in hospital. All of the patients were tested with Positive and Negative Symptoms Scale (PANSS) before, 4 and 8 weeks after treatment and Social Disability Screening Scale (SDSS) at 6 months after treatment. Results The PANSS scores of two groups decreased significantly after the treatment (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the effective rates between the home care group (69.4%) and the hospital group (66.7%). The SDSS scores of the home care group was significantly lower than the hospital group (P<0.01). Conclusion Home care provides an efficient approach to treat schizophrenia in rural community, and it can improve the social function of the patients.

National Journal of Andrology 2014;20(3):218-224
OBJECTIVETo investigate whether bortezomib can enhance the sensitivity of human prostate cancer (PCa) cells to natural killer (NK) cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and whether it produces the same effect on different PCa cell lines.
METHODSWe treated androgen-dependent PCa LNCaP cells and androgen-independent PCa DU145 cells with bortezomib at the concentrations of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 nmol/L for 24, 48 and 72 hours, and then detected the proliferation and apoptosis of the tumor cells by CCK-8 and Annexin V/PI, respectively.
RESULTSThe proliferation rates of the DU145 cells treated with 15, 20 and 25 nmol/L bortezomib were (82.79 +/-2.04)%, (73.59+/- 2.95)% and (74.16+/- 6. 16)% at 48 hours and (71.24+/- 5.30)%, (51.20+/- 2.91)% and (38.02+/- 2.67)% at 72 hours, and those of the LNCaP cells were (77.04+/- 7.74)% , (42.61 +/- 6.62)% and (23.85 +/-6.04)% at 48 hours and (36.45 +/-7.02)%, (14.94 +/-5.76)% and (11.65 +/-5. 87)% at 72 hours, both significantly inhibited as compared with the control group (P <0.05). At 24 hours, the apoptosis rates of the DU145 cells treated with 15, 20 and 25 nmol/L bortezomib were (14.41 +/- 1.32)% , (16.13 +/- 1.55)% and (14.48 +/- 1.42)% , and those of the LNCaP cells treated with 20 and 25 nmol/L bortezomib were (12.77 +/- 1.28)% and (14. 84 +/- 1.65)% , significantly higher than those of the control group (P <0.05) , and the DU145 cells showed an even higher sensitivity to bortezomib than the LNCaP cells. Bortezomib failed to sensitize these two cell lines to NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity in short-term assay, while long-term assay manifested that the apoptosis rates of DU145 and LNCaP cells after treated with 20 nmol/L bortezomib + NK cells were (41.83 +/- 5.06)% and (30.31 +/- 3.62)% , respectively, significantly higher
CONCLUSIONBortezomib enhances the sensitivity of than those after treated with either bortezomib or NK cells alone (P <0.05). PCa cells to NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity and adds to the effect of current cancer therapies, and it is more efficacious for androgen-independent prostate cancer.
